Chapter 51 - Me? Learn Sage Mode?!

By now, even Kakashi had to admit it —

each of the three jutsu Arata had mastered could serve as a top-tier trump card for any jōnin.

But what made it terrifying was this:

Arata's versions weren't just stronger — they were in a different league.

Especially Chidori Spear and Chidori Senbon — their combined range, speed, and piercing force had elevated them to true S-rank techniques, and even among S-ranks, their destructive power stood at the top.

Ordinary S-rank jutsu couldn't even compare.

Kakashi sighed, shaking his head slightly.

"You really are something else. Even most jōnin couldn't manage one of those without running dry. I couldn't either, honestly."

He wasn't exaggerating.

Arata's chakra wasn't normal — it was infused with natural energy, yet not exactly the same as Sage chakra.

There was something deeper to it.

Unlike normal chakra, Arata's chakra carried a faint awareness, a will — like it was alive.

Every time he condensed chakra into matter, it pulsed with a subtle life force.

Much like the legendary Wood Release of the First Hokage.

Only Arata himself didn't realize it.

And neither did Kakashi fully understand what he was seeing.

Arata exhaled lightly.

"Honestly, using those two techniques puts a lot of strain on me. With my current chakra, I could probably only use them twice more."

Kakashi blinked.

"Wait — you mean you can use five S-rank jutsu in a single day?"

He looked genuinely stunned.

By all logic, Arata's chakra should've been exhausted long ago.

He'd just fired off three jutsu, all of which exceeded the destructive level of Raikiri.

Yet he still had enough left for two more?

That wasn't just impressive — it was inhuman.

Kakashi narrowed his eye thoughtfully.

"So… your chakra's already surpassed mine, hasn't it?"

He remembered vividly — only a few days ago, Arata's chakra reserves had been below his own.

Even considering his unique nature, this kind of growth was abnormal.

Arata paused, sensing inwardly before answering plainly,

"Yeah. I think I might have a bit more than you now, sensei."

Kakashi stared at him for a moment, utterly speechless.

"How… how did your chakra increase that fast?"

Arata tilted his head slightly.

"Maybe I had more inside me than I realized. Something hidden got unlocked, I guess."

Kakashi thought about it, and that explanation made sense.

There was something mysterious dwelling inside Arata's body — something he had sensed since the beginning.

"Mind if I take a look with my Sharingan?" Kakashi asked.

He wasn't being nosy — he was worried.

If Arata's chakra was expanding too fast, his body might not withstand it.

Arata nodded easily.

He had nothing to hide.

Kakashi lifted his headband, revealing the crimson Sharingan.

The tomoe spun once — and then froze.

For a long second, he simply stared.

"This… this is insane," he whispered. "Your chakra… it's enormous. Almost equal to Naruto's."

That was saying a lot.

Naruto's chakra wasn't only his own — it was mixed with the Nine-Tails'.

Even with most of the beast's power sealed, the Fourth Hokage's Eight Trigrams Seal constantly leaked and refined that chakra into Naruto's system, making his reserves absurdly high for his age.

And yet Arata's base chakra — purely his own — was now on that level.

Roughly twice Kakashi's amount.

And just a few days ago, he'd been merely at a normal jōnin's level.

Now, even after firing off three S-rank techniques, he still had reserves left.

If he hadn't spent that chakra…

Kakashi realized with a shiver — Arata's full reserves might even surpass Naruto's unassisted chakra entirely.

That wasn't jōnin-level anymore.

That was Kage-level.

At twelve years old.

But the more Kakashi saw, the more worried he became.

"If your chakra keeps growing at this rate," he said carefully, "your body might not be able to handle it. Chakra isn't free — the body has to contain it."

He frowned, watching Arata's calm expression.

"Tell me honestly — do you feel anything strange? Pain, exhaustion, pressure?"

Arata smiled faintly.

"No. I think it's because of that night… when my chakra went berserk. My body must've adapted. I feel stronger since then."

Kakashi nodded slowly. That explanation fit.

He had always suspected that the outburst that night had triggered something within Arata's body — awakening a dormant power.

Such phenomena weren't unheard of in the shinobi world.

Unique bloodlines, special constitutions… there were many mysteries out there.

But even so, this level of change was rare. Almost mythical.

Kakashi folded his arms.

"Still, I can't ignore it. If your chakra keeps expanding like this, you'll need a way to balance it. Otherwise, your body will collapse under the pressure."

He looked thoughtful for a moment, then nodded decisively.

"If there's a chance, I'll talk to Jiraiya-sama. Maybe he can take you to train in Sage Mode. Learning it might help you control your chakra completely."

Arata blinked, startled.

"...Jiraiya-sama?"

Kakashi chuckled softly.

He thought Arata was unfamiliar with the name.

"Ah, right. You've probably heard me mention him before, but let me explain again."

He straightened, his tone becoming respectful.

"Jiraiya-sama is one of the legendary Three Sannin of Konoha — alongside Orochimaru and Lady Tsunade. During the Second Great Ninja War, they earned that title fighting the Hidden Rain. Each of them possesses power on par with the Hokage."

"He's also the student of the Third Hokage — and the teacher of the Fourth Hokage."

"More importantly," Kakashi added with a faint smile, "he's a master of Sage Arts — real Sage Mode."

Arata listened quietly.

He already knew of Jiraiya's feats — but hearing them from Kakashi made it feel heavier, more real.

Kakashi continued,

"The Third once mentioned that your body might be something extraordinary — maybe even a naturally attuned Sage Body. That means your chakra's nature could already be close to Sage chakra."

"If that's true… then learning Sage Mode might let you master that power completely — without hurting yourself."

Arata blinked, his thoughts spinning.

Me? Learning Sage Mode?

It sounded unreal.

He wasn't Naruto, or Jiraiya's student — he was just another shinobi, still new to the world beyond the Academy.

But the way Kakashi said it…

He wasn't joking.

And deep down, Arata knew one thing —

if it could help him control the wild force inside his body…

then maybe, just maybe…

He'd truly step onto the path of a Sage.
