Kael's POV
"Leave! Get out!"
Aria's screams hit me harder than any fist had.
She was shaking, her eyes full of tears yet no one dropped, she looked completely broken by me, she looked fustrated.
I almost blew it right there, I wanted to move across the room and pull her back into my arms.
I wanted her to believe me, believe the new me but she wasn't ready to give in even tho I knew a part of her still wanted what we shared, I could feel her wolf but not properly, the bond was still there but wasn't strong enough for me to tell how she felt.
Looking at the scene, I had to go before I ruined everything.
"I'm going," I managed to talk keeping my voice low.
"But listen. I am not letting you go again. Ever. You can hate me. You can fight me. I don't care. It will take time for you to forgive me, but I would rather wait here forever than let you walk out that door. You're mine and always be mine."
I didn't look back. I walked to the heavy oak door and shut it, hearing the lock click. I leaned my head on the cool wood for a second, just breathing.
Okay.
Now focusing on the hard part, dealing with the pack and getting my son settled properly.
I pushed off the door and started walking through the hall. I was already feeling the Alpha calm settle back into my shoulders until I heard a sharp voice, a very violent and sharp one.
"Kael!"
I looked down the stairs. It was my idiot twin, Kian, charging anc pacing through the living room like a bull.
"You sick piece of shit! What did you do? Where's Aria?!" Kian was on me before I could even blink, grabbing my collar.
His face was pure crazy, eyes wider than it had ever been. "Where is she, Kael? You let her go right now! Free her!"
I just looked at him. Pathetic. Always so easy to rile up.
I didn't waste any energy. I grabbed his wrist and twisted it hard. He cried out, letting go of me like my skin like it was fire.
I shoved him backward and he stumbled, hitting the back of the velvet sofa with a loud thump.
"Get off my property, brother," I snarled, adjusting my collar.
"You're trespassing." He scrambled up, holding his wrist and staring up the stairs toward Aria's room.
"She's not yours! She's my responsibility, and you terrified her! You can't just take people. You're still the same low-life."
"I am the Alpha!" I roared, stepping forward.
I was tired of his whining. I backhanded him hard across the face.
The sound was loud it called attention in the pack. Kian hit the ground, his mouth instantly bloody. "You are nothing but a disappointment, a jealous runt who never wanted me to succeed, waiting for my down fall always! So you have been settling for her watching her from the bushes? She belongs here, with her mate and her son, not out in the woods or even with you!"
He didn't listen. He pushed himself up, wiping the blood off his lip. He lunged past me, desperate, focusing only on the hallway.
"I'm getting her!"
He never made it.
Two of my best warriors, who were on patrol duty near the great room, were suddenly on him.
They grabbed Kian from behind and pinned his arms back against his shoulders.
"Please Take him out! I don't need chaos" I commanded. "If he comes back, lock him up. I'm sick of looking at his face."
They started dragging him toward the massive front doors.
Kian was fighting, kicking, yelling my name, shouting warnings about how I was going to lose everything. It didn't matter. He was just noise.
All I wanted was to get my kingdom and life together with my mate and pack.
Aria's pov
I was still pressed against the wall, trying to make sense of what Kael had just told me.
"I would rather wait here forever than let you walk out that door"
All of a sudden I heard the loud crash and tell that made me jump.
It sounded like a fight
A deadly one
I couldn't get out the room because it was locked so I couldn't even check what was going one.
My heart started pounding against my ribs and I pressed hard against the door trying to get an idea of what had been going on.
"You are nothing but a disappointment, a jealous runt who never wanted me to succeed brother"
Brother? Oh, moon goddess. It was Kian.
He probably came for me. He actually came here, knowing what Kael would do. He's going to get hurt because of me!
I panicked pacing around the locked door, my hands shaking towards the knob, wishing I could be out there helping him.
Then, I heard another voice. It was soft and different, but it sent a shiver down my body.
It sounded familiar, like my sister's.
It was indeed hers, Seraphina. Kael's Luna. My step sister.
"What is all this mess? Why is Kael anf Kian fighting?"
All of a sudden the noise downstairs stopped completely after that.
You could even hear a pin drop.
Then, Seraphina's voice came, slow and steady
"Wait. Is that Aria's scent up there? I could smell her wolf"
I backed away from the door quickly in fear breathing heavily as my knees became weak all of a sudden.
I looked wildly around the room. The only windows were huge enough to escape but the down side?, they were so far off the ground, at least two stories, I could literally lose my life jumping off and what about my son? I can't die leaving my son in this cruel pack especially not with Kael and Seraphina.
I slid down the wall until I was curled up, pushing my head against it, there was no way ou, I was trapped not only emotionally but physically.
