During the village wide party for the reopening of the chief's hut, we didn't forget little Kachel. I looked at my son and smiled in bewilderment. He really did look like a five years old in stature and size.
His brother and sister were also growing fast. Shortly after my illness, they stopped breast feeding and started eating regular food. At this point, they looked to be physically around two or three.
Speech still needed to catch up. I would say that Kachel could speak like a three year old. The twins both used Kachel's words for their fathers and me. It was adorably if it weren't for the fact that both Ocello and Uchel were disappointed that their children didn't call them dada.
I was kind of sad that he had grown so fast.
This was a world of beasts and the harsh reality is that unless a child matured fast, they wouldn't survive childhood. But that didn't mean that I couldn't celebrate them along the way.
