Caleb's POV
At first, I despised her. The mere thought of her name sent sharp waves of agony coursing through my chest. I despised how she refused to return what I felt for her, how she wouldn't even attempt to try. I despised how she treated me like nothing more than a plaything for her desires.
I despised her completely, but gradually, I started to see through her walls.
That was the moment I realized how dangerously easy it would be to lose myself to her.
"Do you have any idea what you do to people?" I whispered, restraining myself from reaching out to touch her again. My hand still burned from where our skin had connected, tingling with the memory of her warmth.
Those perfect lips of hers parted, but no sound emerged. She simply gazed up at me, stunned and silent. The space between us crackled with all the words we had never spoken, or perhaps words we should never dare to voice.
But we had moved far beyond the point of watching our tongues.
