The Guardians spread across our territory like shadows, their voices carrying through mind-links to every pack member. The command was simple yet urgent: gather at the pack house immediately. Border patrol would continue under their watch while we handled more pressing matters.
"Rebecca, are you certain Ward should witness this?" Uncle Patton's voice cut through the tension that had settled over us like morning fog.
She paused, her hand instinctively moving to her rounded belly. The gesture spoke of protective instincts that ran deeper than conscious thought.
"He already carries fragments of truth about his mother's death," I interjected, watching her carefully. "Being present might offer him the closure he desperately needs. Understanding the full picture could help him heal."
