I sense Audrey's body tensing against mine as Kain continues his explanation about Bennett and Lily's connection, describing how close it came to shattering completely.
The situation makes perfect sense when I consider Lily's struggle with accepting their bond. Bennett handled everything correctly by putting her emotional needs first. He understood she required space to process everything, and when she finally felt ready to embrace their relationship, he began planning for their shared future.
That future would have been absolute torment if they had remained in this territory, though I seriously doubt Polo or Thor would have permitted them to stay anyway.
Captain Norman clears his throat before speaking. "Bennett and Lily are currently waiting in an SUV just beyond the territory borders. Bennett refuses to enter the territory while Thor maintains his Alpha status."
