The previous evening had drained us all emotionally as my Brothers finally opened up about their childhood experiences.
Once they retreated to their rooms, the rest of us gathered to strategize our approach for the upcoming trial. We scheduled our initial consultation with Elder Dwayne and his Father, seeking their perspective on which other Elders we could trust.
"I'm still struggling to comprehend how your Mother could dismiss her own Sons like that, and how their Father simply went along with her decisions. What were they feeling when they shared their story?" Atticus inquires.
I pause, weighing my words carefully. While I'm uncertain whether it's appropriate for me to reveal their private emotions, I feel compelled to share what I witnessed. The anguish radiating from them was overwhelming, and their bewilderment at receiving genuine attention from us was equally heartbreaking.
