Some people walk through life believing they have the right to look down on everyone else.
I never chose the childhood that was handed to me, but I refused to let it poison how I treated others. I never bought into the idea that the world owed me compensation because my father turned out to be a complete bastard.
Everyone has rough days where they might snap or act out of character, but treating someone like dirt because of their position or status is absolutely ridiculous. Acting like the universe should bow down and serve you because of whatever twisted logic you've created is even worse.
"Can we sit in on that meeting?" I whisper to Chaim, desperate to hear what Elder Mace will try to justify and hoping to discover if other Elders share his warped perspective.
"Absolutely, even if I have to force the issue. I want Elders who actually represent the Shifters in our Kingdom, not ones who decide what information people deserve based on their own prejudices."
