Chapter 1 - One-Sided Love: An Emotional Story

Arjun had always been an ordinary boy with an extraordinary heart. He taught at a small coaching institute in Delhi—maths and logic were his world, but deep inside him lived a truth that had silently shaped his life for years: his one-sided love.

And that love had a name—Meera.

---

1. The First Meeting

Meera had come to the institute for new admission. Arjun was standing near the reception, distributing copies. That was the first time his eyes fell on Meera—her gentle smile, her large expressive eyes, and a strange innocence that made Arjun freeze for a moment.

Meera pushed the form toward him and asked,

"Sir, how do I fill this block?"

Arjun replied, "Write your previous academic details here."

Just a small exchange. But for Arjun, it became something much bigger.

That night, he stayed awake on the terrace. The wind was blowing, but he felt a strange warmth inside. He asked himself, "Is this what people call love at first sight?"

And then he smiled to himself.

For him, love had never been this easy.

---

2. Closeness Within Distance

Meera was a good student—smart, polite, and quick to learn. She often stayed back for doubts, and Arjun always tried to steady his heartbeat.

Sometimes Meera would say,

"Sir, today's class was a bit complicated, but your examples made it clear."

Arjun would simply nod, "Okay, I'll make it easier from now on."

But inside him a voice emerged:

"If only you knew that talking to you is the easiest part of my day."

He never expressed it.

He had not been given love; losing even what he had was scarier.

3. A Love That Spoke Only Inside the Heart

Time passed. Meera's friendship with Arjun grew, but only as much as a student and teacher could have.

Arjun noticed every small thing—Meera's likes, her favorite pen, her morning tiffin in class, the soft sound of her laughter.

When Meera was happy, Arjun felt his whole world light up.

When she came sad, Arjun became restless, but all he could ask was,

"Everything okay?"

Never more.

Never less.

Only as much as the limited right he had—just a very small one.

Arjun never found the courage to confess his feelings.

Because in Meera's eyes, there was respect for him—but not love.

And Arjun feared that expressing his heart might even take that respect away.

---

4. The Day Everything Changed

One evening, Meera suddenly said,

"Sir, I want to tell you something."

Something shook inside Arjun.

He asked softly, "Yes, go on."

Meera said,

"I like someone… and I think he likes me too."

Arjun's hands turned cold.

His heart seemed to stop for a moment.

But his face carried the same calmness,

"Oh… who is it?"

Meera shyly took a name—a junior teacher at the institute, cheerful, talkative, confident.

Arjun tried to reduce the pain rising inside him, but all his heart could whisper was,

"I just want you to stay happy."

Meera thanked him and left.

After she walked out, Arjun sat on his chair for several minutes—silent, motionless, with his eyes closed.

Every second felt like a heavy stone pressing on his heart.

---

5. The Decision to Stay Silent

Arjun somehow controlled the storm rising inside his chest.

He knew Meera's heart beat for someone else.

He tried turning his love into her happiness, but each attempt wounded his heart a little more.

That night felt painfully long.

Sitting on the terrace, Arjun asked himself, "Why did this happen? Was I not enough?"

But his heart answered,

"Love isn't received by measuring… it is received by destiny."

---

6. Goodbye

A few months later, Meera left the coaching. Her course had ended.

Before leaving, she met Arjun one last time.

"Sir, I learned so much because of your teaching. Thank you for everything."

Arjun smiled,

"Take care."

Just that.

He had no right to say anything more.

Meera turned and walked away.

Arjun's eyes followed her until she disappeared completely.

And then…

It felt as though a part of his world had suddenly gone empty.

---

7. Life After

Arjun continued the same—teaching, explaining, smiling.

People never realized how broken he was inside.

Sometimes he would see Meera's name in the class register and memories would resurface.

But he never tried to contact her.

He didn't want to become a burden or disturbance in her life.

Time passed.

Love remained buried inside—like a silent weight.

---

8. A Confession… That Was Never Sent

One night Arjun wrote in his diary:

"Meera,

you will probably never know how much I loved you.

From your laughter to your smallest habits, everything became a part of my heart.

But your happiness mattered more to me than my desire, so I stepped away from your path.

If you ever read these pages—know that somewhere in this world, there was someone who loved you truly, even if it was one-sided."

He never sent that page.

Arjun tore it out and kept it safe—like a memory, like a wound.

---

9. The End, Which Was Actually a Beginning

Love never ends.

It simply changes form.

Arjun's love changed—from wanting to have someone, to praying for someone's happiness.

For him, one-sided love was not a burden but an experience that made him deeper, softer, wiser.

And every evening when he sits alone on the terrace, Meera's smile comes before his eyes.

The same smile…

the one he kept in his heart but never allowed to reach his lips.
