"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!" Rodney muttered, dodging the hail of bullets flying from all sides. He couldn't understand how this gang of bandits managed to keep up a steady fire without reloading.
"Earth Element: Earth Wall!" Rodney shouted, quickly placing his hands on the wall and slamming his palms into the ground.
A wall of hard clay rose up from beneath his feet, reflecting another volley of bullets.
"Water Release: Ripping Stream!" Rodney unleashed a powerful stream of water from the ground, washing away most of his opponents like dirt from a toilet.
Only a few people remained, including Mister 8. He chuckled, looking at the destruction of his subordinates:
- What a loss! You shouldn't have let your hands get away with it.
Noticing Rodney peeking out from behind the wall, Mr. 8 commanded:
— To the shelling!
A deafening roar came from the cannon barrels.
— The artillery barrage is ready!
— Curl's cannon, fire!
Bang-bang-bang!
Bullets the size of human heads flew out of the barrels. Rodney slammed his fist into the wall, meeting the projectiles head-on, causing a powerful explosion.
Using his incredible speed, Rodney instantly appeared in front of Mr. 8 and plunged the knife into his neck.
Mr. 8 collapsed limply to the ground.
At that moment, Rodney noticed the pirate hunters approaching. He smiled and said:
— Shadow Clone Technique!
Bang-bang-bang!
Three exact copies of Rodney materialized out of thin air and charged at the approaching crowd.
He fought them like a tiger against a pack of wolves, like the legendary Madara Uchiha, single-handedly facing off against a hundred thousand strong coalition ninja army.
Having gathered the enemies in a group, Rodney slapped Mr. 8 to bring him to his senses and asked:
— Barack Works?
"You know?" Mr. 8 was stunned.
"Of course! This time my target is you, to get rid of you," Rodney smiled. "Tell me where Barrack Works is, or send a few more people here so I can take care of them."
Pressing his thumb to Mr. 8's chin, Rodney continued:
- Think carefully, your life is hanging by a thread.
"Who the hell are you? What's your goal?" Mister 8 asked.
"Are you talking to me?" Rodney laughed. "I'm Joestar J. Rodney. Just know that I will destroy Barak Works, and then... Decide quickly! Or I'll kill you!"
Squeezing Mr. 8's neck with his chakra, Rodney added:
"I... Your intelligence is simply terrible. The warrant for your arrest was revoked long ago."
Crocus walked up to them, crossing his arms over his chest, and grinned:
- In this state, you won't get much information from him.
Rodney replied:
- I'll make him talk.
He decided not to use his Sharingan for now. He had his own plans, and it didn't bother him.
Mr. 8 looked at the stunned pirate hunters surrounding them. These men were actually members of the organization Barak Works. They were recruiting rookie pirates, tricking them into building a city.
Mr. 8 sighed and said:
"Barrack Works is in Alabasta, but I don't know the exact location. You can try to find it there. That's all I can say."
He and Princess Vivi infiltrated Barrack Works to find out the truth, but found nothing conclusive.
"This man before me is a pirate hunter, but I don't know if I can trust him. I'll let him meet with Barak Works, and perhaps the truth about all this will be revealed."
Unaware of Mister 8's true intentions, Rodney showed little interest. If he weren't a kind man, he would have killed him right there. These men were only interested in collecting the pirates' bounty, so it was better to expose them and prevent them from harming ordinary citizens.
"Okay, you're no longer useful," Rodney squeezed Mr. 8's neck, causing him to pass out.
- And that's all?
"Of course not," Rodney felt through Mr. 8's pockets, found what he was looking for, and smiled. "I found it."
In his hand was a Log Pose, which he calmly placed on Mister 8.
The compass stored the magnetic power of Alabasta and always pointed to its location, never changing.
"It's Log Pos. How did you know he had it... have you seen it before?" Crocus asked curiously.
Rodney replied:
"Not exactly. It was more of a guess that someone from Barak Works might have a Log Pose, so I decided to check if he had one."
He admitted there was an element of excitement in it, and as it turned out, he was right.
Throwing the compass aside, Rodney said:
- Old man, let's go.
"It hasn't been that long. Besides, there's still wine in the tavern. Let's take it with us," Crocus suggested.
Although they were both quite strong, they couldn't carry much. They only managed to move half the wine from the warehouse. Rodney hoisted Crocus onto his shoulders, while Crocus supported a large wooden platform laden with wine barrels. Thus they reached Laboon.
They stored the wine in Labun's body and continued their journey.
After several days of sailing, when night fell, Labun stopped in front of the island where they planned to spend the night.
As they landed on the island, Rodney took a deep breath, inhaling the scent of sulfur that filled the air.
"There are volcanoes on this island. That's why the smell of sulfur is so strong," Crocus remarked, removing the gun from his shoulder.
"In that case, it must be Little Garden. The presence of volcanoes explains the strong smell," Rodney commented, covering his nose.
He surveyed the surrounding area, noting forest trees reminiscent of those of the Jurassic period, particularly spinosa, as well as other unusual plants.
"Don't worry, you'll get used to it as you breathe it in and out," Crocus noted.
"Now let's see what prey we can find. Laboon needs to eat, and we might as well get something to eat too." Rodney waved his hand and headed into the jungle.
"Okay, I'll go light a fire," Crocus decided and went to collect dry branches.
Rodney plunged into the jungle as the sky darkened and yellow sunlight filtered through gaps in the leaves, reducing visibility.
He stopped and looked up, noticing a saber-toothed tiger perched on a crooked tree trunk, staring at him. Its long teeth resembled sharp knives, easily capable of piercing his flesh.
"This is the first time I've seen a saber-toothed tiger. And it's still alive," Rodney mused.
Due to the vastness of the sea, the islands within it developed differently and had no connection.
The islands of the world were strikingly different from one another. Some had already reached the heights of civilization, while others remained frozen in a primeval past. Many of them were inhabited by creatures found nowhere else, as if they had stepped out of the pages of ancient legends.
On one such island, where the climate and isolation created unique conditions, extinct species found refuge. Dinosaurs roamed the jungle, and saber-toothed tigers, though fearsome, weren't considered the top of the food chain.
Rodney, having found himself on this island, had already become familiar with the local fauna. He glanced at the saber-toothed tiger, which blocked his path with an annoyed snarl. "Get lost!" Rodney barked, releasing a strange force that created a powerful air wave that sent the predator reeling.
Climbing a tree, Rodney peered into the distance. His gaze fell on a brontosaurus grazing on the leaves of a cycad, a plant reminiscent of the Jurassic period. The island was teeming with diverse and unusual flora. The brontosauruses, like a herd of giant elephants, peacefully browsed the leaves in groups. An elder stood out in one of them—with numerous scars, fierce eyes, and impressive strength.
"It's up to you," Rodney whispered, clenching his fists.
In the blink of an eye, he was in front of the elder, as if teleported. "Natural Energy Fist!" Rodney roared, unleashing a powerful blow on the brontosaurus. It collapsed to the ground like a mountain. "Do you want to die?" Rodney asked, looking at the other brontosauruses.
The animals, overcome with fear, shook their heads and ran in different directions.
"Well, the old man and I will take the thighs, and Laboon will eat the rest," Rodney muttered. Laboon, a creature with a huge appetite, will make short work of the rest of the carcass.
Deal with the body of a brontosaurus... one, two, three...
Dragging this creature around with his strange power was hard and tiring.
Boom-boom-boom!
Rodney was walking through the jungle when the sky lit up with thunder. "Will it rain?" he whispered, looking up at the sky.
Suddenly, a gigantic armored figure appeared before him, holding a sharp axe and a round shield, blocking out the sun. He spotted the prone brontosaurus and Rodney dragging its massive body. "Human?" the giant boomed like thunder. "Humans have come here again? Human, do you have any wine?"
"Yes, do you want to?" Rodney asked.
The giant laughed, the sound shaking the air. "Kabababa! Okay! I'll help you. Climb onto my arm."
"Okay!" Rodney replied, jumping onto the giant's arm. He pointed in the direction. "Let's go there."
"Let's go!" the giant responded, lifting the brontosaurus and heading in the indicated direction.
