"Caught a pervert." Shen He could only pull out his bank card and hand it to the waiter. "Include all the clothes that were just packed. Does this kind of thing happen often? I mean, encountering perverts."
"Of course, sir." The waiter took the bank card and couldn't help but complain, "This is a high-end boutique, and a single piece of clothing costs several thousand."
"With such a large flow of people here, thieves dare to run amok?" Shen He raised an eyebrow. "Didn't that person just get caught quickly?"
"It's only recently." Perhaps seeing Shen He's generosity, the waiter said a few more words, "In the past, people would cover their faces, grab a few items and run, and no one would chase them. They'd disappear into the alleys, and the police wouldn't be able to do anything. But recently, there have been a lot of people who enjoy helping others. My younger brother, who is in high school, even spent money to buy a set of tights, and he shouts every day about going out to be a Guardian."
Shen He didn't say much.
He looked at the people outside the door who were subduing the pervert to return the clothes. Indeed, each of them had an excited smile on their faces, as if they had done something remarkable.
There was also a Vigilante Enthusiast wearing a tight suit inside, who was excitedly taking photos with the pervert.
After he puts this photo online, it will probably attract more imitators.
This was something Shen He hadn't anticipated, but it could be seen as a positive aspect given by the Guardians.
"Let's go." Shen He, carrying a large bag of purchases, held out his arm for Jeanne to take. "Let's continue shopping."
They had only bought underwear so far, and there was still a lot to buy.
Jeanne gently pinched the inside of Shen He's arm, leaning in close to whisper in his ear, "Don't do that again later."
"Alright." Shen He nodded with a smile, "I'll let you wear them for me to see later."
"You're such a child."
Jeanne pouted slightly to express her dissatisfaction, but ultimately lost to Shen He's gaze, her face flushing as she tacitly agreed.
In the time that followed, they didn't encounter anything similar again.
He'd heard from some shopkeepers that the existence of Guardians had caused many people to flee to other areas.
This, in turn, led to an increase in crime in those other areas during this period.
Shen He kept this information in mind.
From what he had seen and heard, the Guardians were indeed subtly changing people's lives.
At noon, Shen He and Jeanne went to a café.
Shen He didn't actually like coffee very much. As a beverage that was hard to swallow without cream or sugar, he found it inferior to the refreshing fragrance of tea.
But Jeanne seemed to enjoy it.
"It's really peaceful."
Jeanne took a sip of her coffee, a mix of sweet and bitter, and couldn't help but sigh.
"Indeed," Shen He agreed, nodding. "Regardless of the crises brewing behind the scenes, this is still, after all, a world of outward peace."
"That's not quite right," Jeanne shook her head, murmuring softly, "Even in the war-torn era I came from, one could still see glimpses of peace."
Shen He looked at his lover.
Her current expression was rare, a mix of nostalgia and affection.
"What are you thinking about?" Shen He asked, curious.
"Ah." Seemingly realizing her Master was staring, Jeanne lowered her head, embarrassed. "I was just... just thinking that, no matter the era, one can always perceive warmth within humanity."
"Warmth, huh?" Shen He smiled and shook his head.
This is indeed the answer of a saint. Only warm people can see warm things. Some people only feel that this cold and cruel world is always targeting them.
However, humanity as a whole seems to yearn for order and warmth.
Shen He watched the children not far away chasing and playing with Guardian figurines, and thought about what he had seen today, also feeling somewhat emotional.
Heroes are not omnipotent gods; the things they can do are actually not that many.
But as an existence that people yearn for, they stir the hearts of ordinary people.
The entire human society needs heroes.
Now, it was Jeanne's turn to stare intently at Shen He, who was lost in thought.
Perhaps she herself hadn't realized it, but her eyes were filled with an astonishing radiance.
The Master is definitely growing.
Perhaps Jeanne herself was drawn to this growth, which is why she kept getting closer.
By the time Jeanne and Shen He arrived at the company, it was already evening.
The two of them had been out all day, so naturally, everyone gave them a proper scolding. Not only was Violet incredibly aggrieved, but even Ryougi Shiki had a cold expression, though even she didn't know why she was angry.
Fortunately, after Shen He realized the situation was bad, he brought back plenty of gifts.
Exquisite ornaments for Violet, a beautiful kimono for Ryougi Shiki, and even high-end cat food for Senka, the little kitty.
That's right, the white Persian cat Ryougi Shiki raised was named Senka (Flower), which always made Shen He think of a certain sister-complex girl.
However, the gains from this trip weren't just about shopping.
Shen He had a project in mind, and he'd even thought of a name for it.
You Are Also a Superhero.
"I've noticed that the number of 'Vigilante Enthusiasts' imitating Guardians is increasing," Shen He said, opening a company meeting. "This social phenomenon is actually somewhat dangerous. Even Guardians need training before they can take action, let alone ordinary people. We must guide this social phenomenon towards the correct concept before potential accidents occur. The Guardian representative for this project will be Spider-Man."
This was a project Shen He had been thinking about while walking around during the day.
His biggest concern was that some ordinary people, overestimating their abilities and being overly bold, would run around doing things that posed a threat. Once something went wrong, the public opinion would undoubtedly have a negative impact on the image of the Guardians.
Therefore, launching such a project in advance, using rewards to guide those ordinary people to do small things, would first express the attitude of the Virtual Reality Company, occupy the high ground of public opinion, and gain some favor.
That way, even if something went wrong, the impact would be limited.
And Spider-Man was the only Guardian who would even help an old lady cross the street.
The virtual reality company was practically Shen He's personal domain. With a single order, the entire company mobilized, initiating the specific procedures for the projects he envisioned.
Shen He, for his part, was also busy learning how to be a leader.
Managing a company of this size wasn't something you could just wing. The disagreements among subordinates alone were enough to give most leaders a headache.
Time always flew by when you had something to do.
But no matter how busy he was, Shen He didn't neglect his family.
On the day Nunnally's leg cast was removed, he canceled his work and went to the castle. A large group of Servants were already there.
It was worth noting that Lelouch had started to reek of bloodlust.
"Keep your Killing intent in check, don't scare your sister," Shen He instructed.
"I don't know how," Lelouch's face paled.
Perhaps only matters concerning Nunnally could make him this flustered.
Lately, he had been playing a game of wits with his sister, Cornelia, the imperial second princess who had replaced Euphemia as the governor of Area 11. He used videos related to Euphemia to provoke this sister-complex princess, greatly boosting the prestige of the Black Knights. He had even personally killed quite a few people, so some changes were only natural.
"I'll teach you a method," Shen He handed over a photo of Nunnally. "Stare at this and recite Nunnally's name a hundred times, and you should be fine."
"Thank you," Lelouch gratefully accepted it, then suddenly realized something was wrong. "Master, why do you have a photo of Nunnally?"
But Shen He had already entered the ward, holding Senka.
A crowd of people were gathered inside. Even Accelerator was there, though Misaka Mikoto had dragged him along.
"Nunnally, I've come to see you," Shen He placed the Senka to the side and sat on the chair beside the bed.
"Thank you, Brother Shen He." Nunnally smiled sweetly, but her eyes kept glancing towards the door.
"Lelouch is here too." Shen He reached out and ruffled her hair, chuckling. "But that guy is a little nervous; he's panting at the door right now."
"Actually, it's not necessary to be so formal," Nunnally said, a little embarrassed. "I could already stand with a cane before, and Dr. Toad said it was no problem."
Probably because Shen He and the others kept calling him Dr. Toad, Nunnally thought that was Medeghui's name.
But Medeghui didn't mind these things; originally, the words Medeghui were just a codename given to him by others.
He walked over at this moment, first using an instrument to check Nunnally's legs, and nodded. "Indeed, the bandages can be removed, but some rehabilitation will still be needed."
As if hearing the voices inside, Lelouch suddenly became anxious and pushed the door open.
"Nunnally, I did it, big brother did it."
Because there were no chairs, Lelouch knelt beside the bed, reaching out to hold Nunnally's hand.
The promise he had made in the past, to make Nunnally stand up again, was finally about to be realized.
In a short while, Nunnally would be able to live happily like a normal girl, in a brand-new world.
"Yes, Nunnally never doubted Onii-sama."
Nunnally looked at her brother, her smile becoming even sweeter.
However, Shen He keenly noticed that there seemed to be a hint of sadness in that smile.
This caused him to raise his eyebrows slightly, looking suspiciously at Euphemia, but she was also now showing a look of excitement and happiness.
"Alright, alright, don't all crowd in here." Dr. Toad waved his hand.
In situations like this, the doctor takes precedence. Even Shen He stepped aside quickly. Everyone watched quietly as the bandages on Nunnally's leg were slowly unwound, revealing a section of smooth, white calf.
Although it looked too thin compared to the others, it radiated a healthy glow.
Nunnally's face flushed slightly from so many people staring at her leg. However, when she wiggled her toes and cautiously stepped onto the ground, feeling the sensation, everyone around her cheered. She herself was filled with joy.
Compared to standing on her own again, being cared for by so many people seemed to be the greater source of her happiness.
