Chapter 1 - 1

Hi, I'm Ayla and let me tell you how I ended up here!

"Ah! Thank goodness it's you," were the words she heard as soon as she woke up

Head pounding trying to figure out what was happening.

" I hope this doesn't change things between us, I mean you are my best friend and I won't want that to change" he spoke further breaking her heart into pieces

"Ayla?"

"Yes, I heard you friends, nothing to change, got it," she got up from the bed and gathered her clothes from the floor.

Her shirt was torn right in the middle and her pants were no were in sight.

"How rought was last night" she muttered to herself, holding her shirt trying to figure out what to do with it.

"Here where this" he gave her his shirt not daring to meet her eyes

She turned her back to him not letting him see the tears that were already threatening to fall, she wore his shirt and her torn underwear and ran out of there before letting the tears pour down.

She got home, passed her dad in the hallway and slammed into her room and shut the door

"Hey, pumpkin what's wrong" Mr Martins, Ayla dad asked after a series of desperate knocks.

"Dad I'm fine" she lied in between sobs.

"No, you're not, you didn't even comeback last night, open the door I'm coming in.

"I said I'm fine, stop prying" she shouted!

"Don't yell at me, young lady. If you want to wallow in self pity then be my guest" he stormed out of there but in contrast he was worried.

Mr Martins, a handsome middle aged man who looked far younger than his age was a single father. His wife had died years prior in a car crash. After that incident he was very protective of his daughter, Ayla. They weren't rich or anything but they were comfortable, he worked as an accountant in some tech start-up and alya was very smart so she had a scholarship to the best school in the country, Ivy royals.

"I don't know what to do Elouise, if you were here you'll know what to do, you always do" He held her picture to his chest and just stayed there remembering old times.

"Gr.....Gr.....Gr...."she hit the snooze button on her alarm and went back to sleep,

Gr...Gr...Gr..., her alarm rang again more vibrant this time.

" I swear you are after my life" she muttered half awake.

She groigely went to take her bath and get ready. She went downstairs fully ready to go to school.

"Hey, pumpkin breakfast almost ready just waiting for the toast"

She could barely contain her laughter "Dad, is that a pink apron"

" Yes, so who said pink is only meant for girls, it makes me look manly" he did a little twirl looking more silly than before.

She slowly descended from the stairs"Manly" now fully laughing.

He gave her a full turn, " Yes, manly" flexing his muscles "now eat your food you don't want to be late, but Kyle isn't here yet so you might have to wait a bit"

Her mood instantly turned sour as she heard his name" Dad, I was thinking, I don't want to follow Kyle to school again" she said a little hesitant.

" Why what happened?" He and Ayla had been inseparable since birth and all of a sudden she throws this on him.

"Nothing, I just want to start being,..." She struggled for words.

"Hmmm?" He nuged her to continue.

"Independent, I want to be independent" she breath a sigh of relief finding the right word.

He looked at her suspiciously " Is this about yesterday, and why you were crying, did he do something to you, don't think I didn't see what you wore".

" No dad, relax it's nothing when I come back we'll talk about that okay" already at the door.

"Wait, you need to eat first" her dad called back at her.

She turned and raised an apple, her father gave a light nod.

"Love you, dad" and ran out of there. "I pray I don't miss the bus" she whispered as she sprinted to the bus station, luckily for her the bus hadn't gone yet.

"Where to?" The bus driver asked, "I haven't seen that uniform around here".

"Ivy royals" she answered glowing with pride.

"Fancy pants, this bus doesn't get there" he spoke coldly to her

"Wait, what? Where do I go if the bus doesn't take me there".

" I don't know mars maybe mars, if you can't sit just get out of there" .

Feeling angry but desperate she got on the bus but all the seats were already taken.

"What's miss fancy pants doing here, lost your way to your Lamborghini, huh".

A series of laughter erupted in the bus, she could feel everyone harsh glare on her, her lips pressed thin choosing not to cause any trouble, she quietly went to the back and stood in a small space there.

She still heard snide comments about her but she was use to those .

The bus moved soon after that and the comments stopped, mostly.

Ivy royals, a school known for it's etiquette and prestige located in the richest part of New York City. It wasn't just a school it was The school. Sons and daughters of Queens, kings, presidents, business Moguls, politicians, empires, Hollywood stars, National champions, A-list celebrities all came here. It had a yearly acceptance rate of 2%. It is only the richest of the rich that got here. Parents also send their kids here for opportunities, expanding connections. One shot with the right connection and you'll be set for life. Every year it has an annual scholarship program to encourage the masses and show their fake benevolence and fell good about their selves.

And last three years that student was Ayla Martains.

Ayla got down from the bus at the last bus stop and started figuring her way. With the gps with her she was able to locate her school but it was on private property and a big school so she had to walk about 5kilometers to get there

Feeling tired but having no other choice she started walking into the school. A car passed throwing an empty juice box at her.

"Hey nerd pick up the trash, I mean you guys are the same, get it you're trash, get it" he gave a dry joke, his friends at the back laughed, out of fear. They needed to impress him or else, that just how things work around here.

"I think she got it Steve" the other guy said, looking at her in pure disgust "ciao"

She swalked past the juice box felling empty, empty as the box is, she kicked the box, all her bottled up frustration came pouring out. She wiped her tears and continued her journey. She looked up the hill still a long way to go, she sight.

"All this would have been better if you weren't so stubborn" a voice inside her echoed

She pushed the thought aside and started acending up the hill.
