Chapter 539 - Thank You

A figure emerged from the Captain's Cabin. This was a very beautiful lady, wearing a veil hat with ribbons, the hat's style was quite exaggerated and exceptionally ornate.

Beneath the veil hat was a face with delicate features and gracefully curled eyelashes.

The elegant and noble woman, dressed in a complex dark purple court gown and holding a gold-inlaid feathered court fan, walked onto the deck. If not for her translucent figure, if not for her pale, bloodless complexion, if not for the eerie green Light emanating from within her.

Then, this lady would be an absolutely delightful beauty.

"Good evening, Ms. Mania," Lex said, taking off his top hat and smiling as he greeted the figure on the deck.

However, the lady raised her head, her eyes were pitch black, and the dense malice within them almost materialized, overflowing from her eye sockets.

In response to Lex's greeting, she opened her mouth and let out a silent shriek.

Resentful Shriek!

Lex, who had dealt with her once before, had already lightly tapped 'Devil May Cry' as soon as Mania raised her head, allowing it to release a warm aura. This was Sun Halo, and its appearance timely offset part of the damage from Mania's shriek, causing Lex's scalp to tingle and his body to tense, but not to lose control or feel a chill throughout his body.

"Wait, Ms. Mania..." Lex was about to explain his purpose, when he suddenly felt a chill in his heart. He quickly dodged behind Levto.

The Marionette had already put on a set of shiny full body armor, and at this moment, several sparks splattered on his armor, as if it had been grazed by an invisible blade.

That was the result of a 'Wind Blade' strike.

"Ms. Mania, I came here this time..." Lex, from behind the Marionette, tried to explain the situation, but suddenly felt a chill at his back. Mania had already flashed beside him, so he had to dodge to the side, avoiding Mania's hand reaching for his heart.

On one side of the deck, Kardashian leaned against the ship's rail, showing no intention of intervening.

Because Lex had 'Devil May Cry' in his hand, a demigod item that restrained Specters and Wraiths, Kardashian chose to watch the show from the side.

Next, Lex personally experienced Mania's 'hospitality'. The lady kept flashing, so fast that sometimes several figures would appear on the deck simultaneously.

And with each flash, she would get extremely close to Lex, then 'enthusiastically' unleash abilities like 'Wind Blade', 'Wind Pressure Slam', 'Fireball', and 'Ice Lance'.

Despite facing only one target, Lex felt like he was being ganged up on, and Mania's attacks were so frequent that Lex didn't even have a chance to speak.

After using Paper Doll Substitute to dodge an 'Ice Lance', Lex finally caught a window of opportunity and lightly pushed Devil May Cry. Suddenly, circles upon circles of dense, golden flames, imbued with a sacred aura, appeared around him.

They silently spread around Lex, covering the deck in an instant.

This was Light of Fire, which not only forced Mania back but also made Kardashian frown and jump onto the ship's rail to avoid the sacred flames.

Seizing this opportunity, Lex quickly shouted, "Ms. Mania, please listen to me, I have found your child!"

"Child?"

The malice in Mania's eyes lessened slightly, then her pitch-black eye sockets gradually changed, revealing whites and a pair of deep green pupils.

"You found my child?" The woman, seemingly having regained her sanity, asked again.

Lex then breathed a slight sigh of relief, cautiously dispelled the Light of Fire, and then took out two test tubes, "In here, I believe one of them is the Bloodline of your descendant."

He threw the two test tubes over.

Just as they were about to fall, the test tubes floated in mid-air, as if held by invisible hands, or supported by unseen wind.

Mania's figure flickered, appearing next to the test tubes. The Bloodline inside the test tubes was drawn out by an invisible force, floating in mid-air, and sparkling with the Light of black star.

The lady closed her eyes, as if sensing something. A moment later, she opened her eyes and stared at Hardy's Bloodline, saying, "It's him. Although not very strong, I can feel that this is his Qi."

"My child, how is he now? Has he... has he grown up?"

Seeing the lady's hopeful expression, Lex truly couldn't bear to tell her the truth, but still said, "Madam, perhaps you don't know, but more than two hundred years have passed since you were alive."

Mania's figure blurred slightly, and her voice trembled, "More than two hundred years have passed? That means my child, he..."

Lex nodded gently, "I am very sorry, your child is no longer in this world. However, he grew up healthy. He was adopted by your maid, Britney. He grew up like other children, became an adult, started his own family, and had his own children. His Bloodline was continued."

Lex then took out the diary he had obtained from Hardy, "This is his diary. Perhaps through it, you can learn about your child."

"Diary." Mania's gaze immediately fell on the diary in Lex's hand. The diary floated up by itself and came to Mania's side.

Mania's hands became somewhat substantial. She held the diary and opened it.

'March 4th, damn it, I woke up in the basement again...'

On the deck, Mania silently read the diary. She occasionally let out a knowing smile, and sometimes felt a little sad.

Lex did not disturb her, standing quietly to the side, waiting for her to finish reading the diary.

After a long while, Mania reluctantly closed the diary and then looked at Lex, "Thank you, stranger. Thank you for bringing me news of my child, and this diary."

Lex smiled, "His Bloodline has continued. Your descendants live in Tingen City, Loen. If you want to see them..."

"No need," Mania pressed the diary to her chest, "There's no need anymore. I know that child survived, I know he grew up healthy, I know he had a girl he liked, I know he started a family, I know he looked for me..."

"That's enough, it's enough."

"Although he didn't embark on an extraordinary Dao, living a full life as an ordinary person and having experienced ordinary happiness, I am already very comforted."

"So, I have no regrets, and no need to persist any longer."

Mania looked at Lex, "Stranger, you have done so much for me. How should I thank you?"

"How about this, I will give you the black star. It is a magical item itself, and it can sail freely on the Sea. No matter how harsh the place, it cannot prevent it from entering or leaving."

Lex clenched his fist and coughed lightly, smiling, "Ms. Mania, if possible, I would rather have clues about Rosell's Secret Treasure. I heard that you have information in that regard?"
