Chapter 472 - Martial Law

What are my thoughts?

My thoughts are, could you please go fight that 'Iron-Blooded Knight,' and while you're at it, retrieve 'clarence's gate,' and ideally, bring it back for me to report, that would be perfect.

Lex reined in his scattered thoughts, lowered his head, and said, "Your Excellency, Admiral, I am but a humble Lieutenant. Even though I am somewhat knowledgeable about this matter, due to my limited insight, I feel it improper to speak, lest I mislead Your Excellency."

Amyrius said with no expression on his face, "No matter, I will judge for myself. Feel free to speak."

Since the other party had said as much, Lex could not persist in silence, otherwise, it would be disrespectful to the Navy Commander.

He cleared his throat and said, "If it were me, I would first clarify the objective. Begging your pardon, but even with Your Excellency Admiral joining us now, it would be difficult for us to directly prevent the Feysac's naval assembly from the front."

"Therefore, our objective should be to seize the Teleport item in the Feysac's possession. To achieve this goal, we should first gather intelligence to ascertain who currently holds that item."

"Once we know who possesses this item, we should devise a way to lure him out, then have Your Excellency Admiral make a move and seize it in one go."

"As long as they lose that item, the naval forces the Feysac have assembled here will become meaningless."

Amyrius nodded slightly, "That's similar to what I was thinking. So, what if we can't seize that item in time?"

Lex simply let his thoughts run wild, pacing around the warehouse, contemplating, and then said, "Then we should prepare early."

"If, in the end, we still cannot prevent the Feysac's navy from attacking Pritz Harbor, then we should assemble our forces early to meet them, and at the same time, find ways to weaken their combat effectiveness."

"For example, we can spread rumors. The Feysac people believe in the God of War, so we can point out that this is an unjust war, and this war will not receive the God of War's approval."

"In short, whatever the enemy cares about most, we will attack them from that angle, weakening them mentally and in terms of morale."

"Additionally, speaking of spreading rumors, we can be even bolder and spread rumors to the Intis Republic and Lenburg. Spread rumors that the Feysac will use a Teleport item to attack their territories."

"If I were a ruler of Lenburg or the Intis Republic, once I received such news, regardless of its truth, I would take action, after all, no one treats war as a game."

"In this way, Feysac will feel pressure. When they commit all their forces to our Kingdom, they will have to consider whether their border regions, vulnerable during this period of military emptiness, will become a delicious piece of fat in the eyes of other countries."

Lex spoke eloquently, and after finishing, he quickly said, "These are just some of my immature thoughts, which have made Your Excellency laugh. My knowledge is shallow, and if there's anything I've said incorrectly, I hope Your Excellency Admiral will be magnanimous."

Amyrius nodded impassively, neither confirming nor denying.

He said calmly, "My people and I are not suitable for going out to gather intelligence. Therefore, the task of confirming who holds that Teleport item will be entrusted to you."

"Once the holder is confirmed, as you said, find a way to lure him out, and I will seize it. After succeeding, quickly relocate."

Lex dared not disobey the order, lowering his head and saying, "I will do my best."

"Then you may go. If you have any news, just tell Mark."

"Understood."

Seeing that there was nothing else, Lex exited the warehouse and left the dock.

After the door closed, in the warehouse, Amyrius's lips curled slightly, "This Lieutenant has many ideas. His suggestion of spreading rumors is very interesting, especially the last point, dragging other kingdoms into it, which has significant strategic meaning."

"I will inform Military Intelligence Section 9; they should be able to quickly spread rumors in Lenburg and the Intis Republic, creating pressure for Feysac."

"As for rumors affecting the morale of the Feysac navy here, I think your 'Black Sail' should be able to handle that, right?"

Mark lowered his head and respectfully said, "I will inform the higher-ups to have people quickly spread targeted rumors in that temporary base to weaken their morale in advance."

Amyrius hummed, "Let's do that."

On his way back to the Town, Lex seriously considered his upcoming work.

He first thought that he was currently a Sequence 7 Pyromaniac in the 'Black Sail' and in the information held by the Loen Kingdom.

This meant that in the upcoming actions, he could not display abilities exceeding Sequence 7. Even if he needed to assist Amyrius in battle, he could only display the abilities of a 'Pyromaniac,' while reducing the use of magical items, especially those two High Rank items.

Next, he carefully considered how to collect the necessary intelligence.

He felt he could focus his target on His Excellency Shevic, as the Major at the base had mentioned hearing that Shevic possessed 'clarence's gate.'

As a Demigod, Shevic was likely not in that temporary base, as the base was visibly crude, and every Demigod was a prominent figure.

Unless they needed to conceal their whereabouts, like Amyrius at this moment, otherwise, they probably couldn't tolerate a crude living environment.

Thus, the probability of Shevic living in the Town greatly increased.

Grand Town and even the entire Sonia Island were under the rule of the Feysac. If Shevic lived in the Town, then this Demigod would certainly live in the best house.

Which house would be the best in the Town?

"Perhaps the Mayor will give me the answer I need."

When Lex returned to the Town, he already had a rough plan. Next was to refine the details and take actual action.

He quickly returned to the inn, and before going upstairs, he was stopped by two tall Feysac police officers.

"Starting today, non-residents of this Town are not allowed to stay in the Town. You have, hmm, about two hours to pack your things before evening."

"After evening, if we still see you in the Town, you will be arrested on charges of espionage, do you understand!"

Facing the aggressive Feysac police, Lex quickly agreed, then hurried upstairs to his room.

The two Feysac police officers did not leave. They ordered the inn owner to provide a guest list, then made the same statement to every guest.

Back in his room, Lex said in a low voice, "It seems Sonia Island is going to be placed under martial law. Good thing I have 'Thousand-Faced Traveler,' otherwise, even the investigation work would be difficult to carry out."

He quickly took out a candle, set up an altar, summoned the 'spirit world treasure chest,' adjusted and accessed magical items, to ensure that the upcoming actions could proceed smoothly.
