Chapter 153 - Detective Henry

When the morning sun crept onto Lex's face, he turned over, opened his eyes, and saw the clear blue sky outside the window.

Today was the first day of September, the weather was good, and the autumn chill in Tingen was growing stronger.

Moreover, having obtained the complete Pyromaniac formula last night, the first day of the new month gave Lex a feeling full of hope.

He got up with great motivation, washed, changed into formal wear, and came to the living room.

Matthew had already prepared breakfast, and Lex leisurely enjoyed it while casually flipping through the newspaper.

Just then, he saw Gru come out, yawning. Matthew quietly told him, "Mr. Gru came back very late last night, seemingly to cooperate with the Police Station in dealing with that attack."

Lex remembered the young man who died in the dark alley, and his good morning mood dimmed considerably. He called Gru over, "How was the situation handled last night?"

"It's been taken care of," Gru nodded in response.

Lex leaned back in his chair, "Do you know the identity of the deceased?"

"Moin Leggett, a novelist. While I was assisting with the investigation at the Police Station, it seemed a police officer had already visited the deceased's residence."

"They found a manuscript that was about to be published in this gentleman's home. An editor from the Tingen newspaper also came to the Police Station last night and identified the deceased."

"From their conversation, that editor seemed to think highly of this writer, what a pity. Now that he's dead, that work probably won't be published."

Gru's stomach rumbled at this point.

Lex smiled, "Go eat first, Matthew, you too."

He thought for a moment, then said to Gru, "Do you know that editor? If so, go to the newspaper office later to find him and tell him that I am willing to help the deceased publish his book."

That might have been his last wish in this life.

In the afternoon, Lex first went to the Evil Dragon Bar. Of course, he went as 'Duke', but after a round of browsing, he only managed to buy 'Crimson Flower Nectar' in the underground market.

Then he went to the Elk Bar, but not by himself; he entrusted Mr. Parker, but only managed to get 'Water of Tranquility' and 'Solidified Magma', all of which were auxiliary materials.

"I still need two main materials and one auxiliary Material. It seems I can only try my luck at the Tarot Club."

Lex put the collected materials into a box and couldn't help but sigh, "I wonder if there's a magical item similar to a 'portable pocket', so I can store and retrieve whatever I need at any time, without worrying about losing it."

At this moment, the butler's voice sounded outside the bedroom, "Sir, dinner is ready."

After dinner, Lex entered his bedroom early, rested for a while, and then left the hotel.

He arrived near the safe house and saw a man pacing at the entrance. The man was wearing a pure black formal suit, with a matching vest and white shirt inside.

His facial features were sharp, and his eyebrows were clearly defined like a sharp sword. He seemed to notice Lex's gaze and looked over.

Then, he approached voluntarily.

Lex frowned slightly, first thinking of pretending to be a passerby and leaving in a hurry, but then immediately thought, 'Why not see what he wants to do first?'

And, who is he?

"Sir."

The man with deep blue eyes pointed to the safe house door and said, "You must live nearby, right? I saw you slow down when you got here, and your gaze was directed at these townhouses, as if you're very familiar with this place."

What keen observation skills.

"Do you need help?" Lex neither affirmed nor denied, but directly posed a question.

The man with deep blue eyes nodded, "I have something to give to the owner of that house, but he doesn't seem to be back yet. If you are his neighbor, do you know when he will be home?"

Something?

What thing?

Lex looked at the mailbox, "Perhaps it can solve your problem."

The man looked back, then immediately shook his head, "No, this thing is very important, I must hand it to him personally."

"Then I can't help you," Lex said, preparing to leave. Before he could figure out the man's true nature, he didn't want to casually interact with a stranger.

The man with deep blue eyes sighed, "Then I'll just have to come back tomorrow."

He passed by Lex and whispered, "Robin, that fellow, what exactly was he investigating to lose his life?"

He spoke very softly; if Lex's hearing hadn't been exceptional, he wouldn't have heard it at all.

Robin?

Detective Robin? He's dead?

"Wait."

Lex called out to the man in front of him, "The Robin you just mentioned, he wouldn't be the Detective from Awwa County, would he?"

The blue-eyed man turned his head and re-examined Lex.

A moment later.

In the living room, Lex held two cups of black tea and placed them on the table, "There's only ordinary black tea at home, I hope you don't mind."

"So, who are you?"

The blue-eyed man picked up the teacup, took a small sip, and calmly said, "My name is Henry, and I'm Robin's colleague."

Detective Henry?

The one Mr. Liz introduced to me?

Lex nodded, "I just heard you say that Mr. Robin had an accident?"

"It wasn't an accident, it was murder, I'm certain of it!" Henry said with conviction, "I know him too well, he would never do something as foolish as hanging himself!"

Lex's heart sank.

Hanging!

Sandy hanged himself, and now Robin, who was investigating him.

This Detective is right, this must be a murder!

"Earlier, I received a letter from Mr. Robin. He told me he had an urgent matter to return home for, and he canceled my commission."

Lex picked up his teacup, "Now it seems that wasn't the case. Can you tell me what exactly happened?"

Henry, also a Detective, sighed softly, "Actually, I don't know much either. Just three days ago, Robin suddenly came to find me. He gave me something and told me he was returning to Awwa County."

"If I received a letter from him from Awwa County, I was to destroy what he gave me. If not, I was to bring it here and give it to the owner of this house."

"However, the very next day, I received news that he had hanged himself at home, leaving a suicide note saying he despaired of this world and had no attachment to life."

Henry said through gritted teeth, "That's absolutely impossible! This guy told me last week that he just needed to work one more year, and then he could go back to Awwa County to open his own Detective agency. He had already planned out his life, how could he suddenly despair and commit suicide!"

The Detective looked at Lex, "Tell me, what was he investigating? The commission he didn't finish, I'll finish it for him!"

Lex looked at him seriously, "Mr. Henry, have you looked at the thing Robin gave you?"

Henry shook his head decisively, "No, he emphasized that I shouldn't open it."

Lex nodded slightly, "Then, please give me the item. As for this matter, it ends here."

"I don't want anyone else to be hurt or even lose their life because of this."

"I also hope you won't be impulsive, and think more about your family, your children, and the people you love."

Henry stared at him intently, remaining silent for a long time.
