Chapter 120 - Locking Position

"What does it look like? A ring? A necklace? A brooch?"

Young Miss 'White Rose', sitting in chair number 3, had a different focus than everyone else.

'Lawyer' also chuckled: "An item that can only be used once, and is a random Teleport, and you still want to sell it for 300 pounds."

"What if it Teleports me to the Sea of Mist? Wouldn't I be dead for sure? This item is too dangerous."

'Novelist' quickly added: "Oh, I forgot to mention, the Teleport range is actually limited. Hmm, if it's used in Tingen, the furthest distance won't take you out of the country."

"So, the range is within the Kingdom. That does give it some value, though its use is limited. If you're willing to lower the price, I think 150 pounds would be acceptable."

'Astronomer' reached this conclusion after some contemplation.

'Novelist' hesitated: "Although it only has one use left, when you face danger, it can help you temporarily escape."

"No matter what, 150 pounds is too low."

"At least 200 pounds."

'Lawyer' sneered: "But the problem lies in the word 'random'. Even if the range is within the country, you still can't avoid 'risk'."

"You might avoid one danger, only to fall into another, greater one."

At this point, Lex cleared his throat and said: "150 pounds. If you sell it to me, I can also provide the name of a Sequence 7 Beyonder potion."

He finally thought of the price for the Sequence 7 information.

'Novelist' hesitated for a moment, then finally agreed: "Deal."

After paying 150 pounds in cash and another note with the Sequence information, Lex received a men's brooch. Its shape was a three-leaf clover, but it was incomplete, presumably due to damage, which meant it could only be used one more time.

One time is one time.

Although random Teleportation has its risks, at least, in the face of a major crisis, it can provide a temporary escape.

It's just that it's damaged and broken, so I can't wear it openly; it would affect my image.

Lex casually pinned the brooch behind his collar.

Having bought the Emperor's notebook and the Teleport brooch tonight, Lex felt the trip was worthwhile. Calculating the time, he had been out of the private room for nearly half an hour. If he didn't go back soon, Matthew and the others would probably be looking for him in the washroom.

So Lex stood up: "Gentlemen, ladies. Please forgive my early departure. I have other matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave."

'Astronomer' said cheerfully: "No problem, and Mr. Duke. If you wish to participate in the next gathering, please keep an eye on the newspaper."

"We will hold the gathering on the day Young Miss Pamela performs, so that after our gathering, we can enjoy her performance."

"So, if you see an announcement for Young Miss Pamela's performance in the newspaper next time, you can come to this room to join the gathering. We welcome gentlemen like you who actively participate and have a certain financial capacity."

"Thank you for the information, I will keep an eye out."

With that, Lex left the room.

He temporarily put off inquiring about clues for the Pyromaniac Beyonder potion formula, planning to save it for the next gathering.

However, he didn't have high hopes for obtaining Beyonder potion clues at the gathering. Based on the discussions at the gathering, even if there were Beyonder among the participants, their level was very low.

Like that 'Novelist', who didn't even know what the Spectator Pathway Sequence 8 was called. It would probably not be easy to obtain clues for the Hunter Pathway Sequence 7 Beyonder potion.

So, in the end, I still have to rely on the Tarot Club. This is the safest and highest-level mystical organization I know of.

Patting the Emperor's notebook hidden in his pocket, Lex decided to pray before the bronze mirror once he returned.

Hmm, better wait until tomorrow. What if I wake up The Fool?

Restored to his original appearance, Lex arrived at his private room. As soon as he opened the door, he saw a dark shadow fly past, and the sound of flapping wings and bird calls echoed in the room.

"I'm going to pluck all your feathers!" Bodyguard Gru was roaring in anger, even pulling out his revolver, but Matthew forcefully pushed it down.

Looking around the room, the table was overturned, fruits rolled everywhere, the carpet was soaked with wine and sticky with a few feathers. The private room was a mess, as if a great battle had taken place.

"What's going on?" Lex immediately looked at the parrot.

The latter landed on the coat rack and actually cawed like a crow, making Lex inwardly complain, 'Have you even forgotten how you used to call?'

"Sir, you're finally here."

Matthew breathed a sigh of relief, then asked nervously: "Are you alright? You've been gone for over half an hour."

"I met a friend from the Horse Riding Club and he invited me to his private room for a short while." Lex quickly made an excuse and walked in, "What happened to you all?"

Gru pointed at the parrot and said: "Sir, can we turn it into a bird meat pie? This fellow pecked me three times, three whole times, and all aimed at my backside!"

Oh, poor Gru. Lex mourned for him for 3 seconds, then said: "Leave it to me, I'll teach it a lesson. But for now, clean this place up, and then quietly enjoy the performance on stage. That's polite."

The play didn't end until 11 PM. After Lex returned to the hotel, he simply washed up and went straight to sleep.

The next day, he originally wanted to strengthen the Teleport brooch, hoping to use it a few more times. However, the mystical book informed him that damaged items could not be strengthened or Sealed, so he had to give up.

Then he prayed before the bronze mirror, and placed the Emperor's notebook seemingly casually, but actually deliberately, in front of the mirror, hoping Klein would discover it.

This prayer, still, received no response.

After breakfast, Lex received a guest.

Detective Robin.

This gentleman had dark circles under his eyes today, and his skin was dull, as if he hadn't eaten or slept well for several days.

Being a Detective is quite tough.

Lex sighed slightly and invited him to sit, also asking Matthew to bring tea and pastries.

After drinking tea and eating a pastry, Detective Robin took out a stack of documents from his bolsa: "Mr. Lex, I have found the target's location."

"His name is Sobari, though it could be an alias. He lives on a street not far from the Dock Area. It's a mixed bag of people, a paradise for wanted criminals, thieves, and robbers."

"He's very cunning. When he needs daily necessities, he never goes out to buy them himself. He always uses his 'neighbors', buying what he needs through different people each time."

"But it's precisely because of this that I was able to gather information about him through these people and pinpoint his whereabouts."

"17 Blackrock Street, 2nd floor, room 3!"
