These words completely ignited Maggie's fury. Black bristles grew on both sides of her cheeks, and her fingernails turned pitch black and elongated, their dagger-like tips taking on a metallic sheen.
The deranged woman ran, even though the wound on one of her knees was still unhealed and many other injuries on her body were still bleeding. Yet, at this moment, she performed beyond her usual capacity, as if uninjured, moving swiftly.
The masked man kept firing, but Maggie, with her beast-like instincts, dodged each shot. The process was too brief, and her rage prevented her from noticing that the masked man's pistol was almost always aimed to her left.
This forced her to dodge to the right, causing her to unconsciously approach a large, leafy tree. As she passed by the tree, a flash of white light appeared in the corner of her eye.
Maggie suddenly felt her body lighten, and the world began to spin in her eyes. First, she saw the night sky with the crimson moon hanging high, then a headless body still running forward.
Finally, she saw a tall girl with short, ear-length hair, poised in a sliding slash with a long sword.
This was the last image Maggie saw in her life.
Thump.
The woman's head fell to the ground, rolling next to the female warrior, right at her feet, and met the young girl's gaze.
"Ah, don't look at me!"
The tall girl lifted her foot, kicking Maggie's head away. It hit a tombstone and rolled into the soft grass.
Bang!
Lex walked over, shot the 'princess'' head, then returned to the body and fired another shot into the heart, finally feeling relieved.
Behind the mask, he let out a sigh of relief.
He felt a slight sweat on his palms, and his tense body finally relaxed.
Following Maggie's scent and the traces she left, Lex tracked her to this cemetery while also considering how to deal with the woman.
In the previous farm, he had already witnessed Maggie's methods and abilities. He knew she could control Living Corpses, was very fast, and could quickly recover from her injuries.
Upon arriving at the cemetery, Lex saw from a distance that Maggie had indeed summoned another group of Living Corpses.
So he decided to prioritize dealing with the Living Corpses. If these things were not dealt with quickly, Maggie could use them for support, giving her a huge advantage whether fighting or fleeing.
Fortunately.
He had obtained a Sun Charms from Richard. After making arrangements with his companions, Lex directly exposed his figure and released a 'Provocation' of his mystic abilities, drawing the Living Corpses towards him.
When the Sun Charms released its Light, Maggie was temporarily blinded by the direct glare, which created an opportunity for Grizzly, who had circled to one side of the cemetery.
It was a pity that Grizzly's marksmanship was limited; he had intended to blow off the woman's head with a high-pressure steam rifle but only blew off her shoulder.
But when she hid behind the tombstone, unable to recover her vision in time, Lex used 'blood praise', almost without wasting a single bullet, to apply all the mystic abilities of the revolver to Maggie.
Finally, he even gave Maggie an enhanced bullet, creating a 'massive bleeding' effect.
Considering Maggie's danger, Lex changed his usual habit, concentrating fire output from the start and not using verbal Provocation.
It wasn't until this dangerous woman was severely wounded that Lex used his gaze, with a simple sentence, to completely burn away her sanity.
The deranged woman, as he expected, immediately made him her primary target for killing. Lex tried to stop her, and after realizing he couldn't hit her, he intentionally forced the woman to the right.
Behind that big tree was the warrior Nafi, who had followed his instructions and ambushed there early.
When Maggie passed by, Nafi struck with full force, successfully beheading her, achieving the effect of a surprise attack.
Worried that Maggie might have other tricks or that her vitality was too tenacious, Lex did not forget to follow up with a shot, putting a perfect end to tonight's hunt.
After tonight's battle, Lex once again felt the charm of teamwork. As long as the deployment was proper and there were no major Errors in the links, a complex and difficult task could be made simple.
"Haha, it's spices. Good heavens, they actually hid spices in the cemetery. The police probably won't think of this even if they rack their brains."
Grizzly, carrying a rifle and a mechanical box on his back, stood in front of the metal box full of spices, his face excited.
Mole's voice also rang out: "Boss Duke, look, we found something else."
It turned out that what Maggie had the Living Corpses dig up a second time was another box, containing gold coins and jewels.
But compared to the Sea Serpent Gang's leader, both the gold coins and jewels were far fewer.
There were probably only two to three hundred pounds in gold coins, and not many jewels, worth about a thousand pounds or so.
At this point, Mole exclaimed, "Huh?" and pulled out several contracts from the box: "Strange, why does this woman also have contracts hidden?"
"Contracts?"
Lex took them and saw that they were property transfer contracts. There were three in total; Lex didn't recognize the grantors of the first two.
But the grantor of the third one clearly stated 'Maynard's' name!
This councilor had actually transferred a company under his name to someone else. Lex quickly looked at the recipient item and couldn't help but let out a soft gasp from behind his mask.
He also knew this recipient.
It was Heimerk. Erick!
Lex immediately recalled the disaster that had occurred in Enki Town not long ago, and remembered that the 'lunatic's' diary had mentioned a man named 'Heimerk'.
Could this be the same person?
Was that 'Heimerk' in Tingen?
Was he also a member of the 'Tingen Story'?
"Boss? Boss Duke."
Nafi's voice brought Lex back to his senses. He quickly put away the three contracts. He saw the girl with deep blue eyes hand him a strangely styled bone flute.
"I found this on that woman. Earlier, I saw her blow this thing, and the corpses in the cemetery sat up. Boss Duke, could this be a magical item?"
Nafi looked curious.
Lex nodded: "Possibly. Since you found it, it's yours."
Nafi was startled: "No way, I don't want it. Just holding it now makes me feel sick."
She thrust the bone flute into Lex's hand without a word.
Mole, on the other hand, said expectantly: "Boss Duke, what should we do with the contents of this box?"
Last time, Lex monopolized the Sea Serpent Gang's property, so he naturally couldn't do that again. He casually said: "Sell the jewels, then divide all the money equally."
Mole's eyes first lit up, then he shook his head, saying with restraint: "No, I suggest we divide the money into ten shares. Each of us gets two shares, and Boss Duke, you did the most work, so you should get four shares."
Grizzly laughed: "I have no objection."
Lex's mind was completely on 'Heimerk' in the contracts, and he wasn't in the mood to 'divide the spoils,' so he nodded in agreement.
