Chapter 101 - Potential Stock

The liquid in Lex's glass almost spilled. He put down the glass and looked directly into Richard's eyes: "You know what Path I'm on, and what Rank I am now?"

At this moment, Old Parker placed a glass of wine in front of the musician.

Richard took the glass, smiled, and shook his head: "I'm not sure."

Lex finished the remaining wine in his glass and tapped the bar, saying: "That drink is on me."

Then he turned and left.

Richard was stunned for a moment. He didn't even bother to drink his wine, putting down the glass and quickly catching up to walk beside Lex.

"Although I don't know what Path you're on, or what Rank you are, I do know about a gathering, a Beyonder gathering."

"It's about to be held, and I can recommend you to go. There, you can get clues for a magical potion, or anything else you might need."

Lex stopped, a smile in his eyes: "Now we can talk about that letter."

Richard chuckled: "You're really something, you got me to show my hand in just a few moves."

Lex said unmoved: "You must have more than just this one card up your sleeve, right?"

The musician shrugged, pointing to a quiet corner near the window: "Shall we talk over there?"

Moving to the window, Richard took out a letter and said: "Please deliver this letter to Helen Macpherson, who lives on Green Emerald Street in the North District. Yes, it's the businesswoman you once protected."

Lex looked at him warily and said: "What is she to you?"

Richard raised his hand and smoothed the golden strands of hair on his forehead: "An ex-girlfriend. We were once deeply in love, but you know, after the passion fades, it often becomes bland."

"Also, our visions for the future were different. I yearned for poetry and distant places, while she preferred to stay in Tingen. So, we had no choice but to part ways."

An ex-girlfriend? This gossip came a bit unexpectedly.

Lex looked at the delicate envelope: "Then this letter?"

Richard sighed: "Although we broke up, I still care about her. I know she's in trouble, so through a friend of a friend, I hinted for her to come here for help."

"I know she hasn't moved on from that relationship, and she even wants to get revenge on me."

"So I decided to write her a letter, hoping it can help her step out of my shadow."

Tsk tsk, when it comes to shamelessness, you're much better than me.

Lex cleared his throat: "Why do you need me to deliver the letter?"

Richard's lips curved slightly: "Because you are a true gentleman. That night, you didn't accept Helen's enthusiastic invitation."

"You might not know, but she saw my shadow in you. She wants to get revenge on me, ah, how cute."

Damn it!

You were watching us?

Lex almost couldn't sit still, and his gaze towards Richard changed.

The musician said somewhat awkwardly: "It's not that I don't trust you; I was just worried about her, so I was protecting her in secret. But that also allowed me to see your noble character, which is why I believe you are the best person to deliver the letter."

Lex stood up and straightened his clothes: "Mr. Richard, although you are older than me, that doesn't mean you can treat me like a child."

Richard cleared his throat and said: "Actually, you could phrase it differently, for example, that you are younger than me, instead of reminding me of the fact that I am older."

"Besides, I'm not treating you like a child."

Lex let out a light chuckle: "Not treating me like a child? Then do you think I'd believe such a clumsy excuse?"

"You ask me to deliver a letter, and in return, you provide a Beyonder channel. It sounds almost as if you're specifically giving me this channel."

"This makes me a little worried; I'm concerned there might be a trap involved."

Richard scratched his hair: "You're more troublesome than I imagined, but this also confirms my earlier thought: you're worth investing in."

"Have you ever bought stocks? If you find a stock with appreciation potential, you naturally buy it when it's still at a low price."

"Through my observations over this period, I think you are that stock with potential."

Richard smiled and spread his hands: "You should know that people like us always have this kind of trouble or that. So, it doesn't hurt to know more capable friends."

"You're right, my excuse was indeed too clumsy. My original plan was to subtly give you some benefits, so that when I'm in trouble and ask for your help, you'll lend a hand."

Why didn't you just say that directly instead of beating around the bush so much?

However, Lex was willing to accept Richard's reason.

He was also happy to know friends like Richard. He believed Richard's Rank should be higher than his own; he just didn't know what Path of Beyonder Richard was on.

Lex sat back down: "What about Ms. Helen?"

Richard smiled a little awkwardly: "She is indeed my ex-girlfriend, and I do indeed want to give her this letter."

"Alright then."

Lex took the envelope: "But now I want to know, when and where will the Beyonder gathering be held?"

"On the evening of the 20th of this month, in the VIP lounge of the Red Maple Theater. There will be a performance at the theater then," Richard said quite straightforwardly this time.

Lex shook the envelope: "Then Ms. Helen will receive this letter tomorrow."

With that, Lex bid farewell and left.

After he left, Richard smiled with a hint of smugness: "Though you're a tough one, you still fell for my trick. I've seen your original appearance, and you resemble me a bit."

"When Helen sees you again, she should transfer her feelings for me onto you. That way, I can completely extricate myself."

That morning, Lex found an excuse to send away his butler and bodyguard, then, using the same appearance he had when he previously visited Helen, he arrived at Green Emerald Street in the North District again.

Pulling the doorbell, Lex waited for a moment and then saw the door open.

This time, it wasn't the housekeeper who opened the door, but Helen herself.

"It's you?"

Seeing the surprised expression on Helen's face, Lex felt a bit uncomfortable, thinking he should quickly give her the letter and run.

"Please, come in quickly."

Helen enthusiastically invited Lex in and walked ahead: "Why have you come?"

"I'm delivering something for a friend."

As he was speaking, Lex suddenly saw his right hand rise, about to reach for a certain part of the graceful lady in front of him that would cause a misunderstanding!

Lex was startled and quickly stopped it with his other hand.

Is this, the 'playboy' tag taking effect? Hmm, I can use this tag to determine the other party's identity.

However, that was useless.

"What is it?" Helen, who had entered the living room, turned around.

Lex noticed that her eye sockets were a bit dark; she seemed to have not slept well recently.

At this moment, his Spiritual Vision was suddenly triggered. Lex was startled, then immediately activated his Spiritual Vision.

He suddenly saw a shadow in front of Helen. A humanoid black shadow, very close to Helen. The shadow raised its hand, and Lex saw a pale, corpse-spotted arm.

It stretched out from the black shadow, reaching towards Helen's shoulder.
