Chapter 61 - First Hunt

Sacks of flour were thrown out by Lex, but he didn't throw them all at the Devil Infant that had chased him through the door. He threw them haphazardly, which made the little devil's instinct to predict danger useless.

At one point, it even inexplicably crashed into a flying bag of flour, fell to the ground, and had its face covered in a thick layer of flour.

In a flash, all the flour in the bakery was thrown by Lex, and the entire bakery was filled with gray-white powder. The Devil Infant got up, and in its anger, it raised its hand, wanting to throw a fireball at Lex.

But Lex lunged forward, not with a gun, but with his fists.

He threw a punch at his opponent's wrinkled face.

His danger premonition worked, and the Devil Infant ducked to avoid it, but this action interrupted its intention to throw a fireball.

Next, Lex pressed close and punched fiercely, giving it no chance to use fireballs.

At first, the Devil Infant could dodge, but after avoiding a few punches, it tried to retreat again, only to hit the wall with its back.

The bakery had limited space, and it was finally cornered by Lex. In its moment of surprise, it took a knee to the stomach from Lex.

It gasped and dry-heaved, then took another punch to the face. Next, its horn was grabbed and lifted by Lex, who then delivered a powerful punch to the little devil's stomach.

At this moment, Lex was wearing Shadow Gauntlets.

At this moment, the light in the bakery was dim.

The gauntlets' ability triggered, and the surrounding shadows boiled, pulling out an arm from the void, covered in strange patterns and symbols of some symbolic meaning.

This arm clenched its fist and smashed hard and heavily into the Devil Infant's wrinkled face, sending it bouncing off the wall like a rubber ball.

Before it could fall, a second fist swept across, hitting it and pushing it to one side. Then more fists rained down. By this time, the little devil's danger premonition had gone off the charts, but premonition and avoidance were two different things.

Under the dense strikes of the 'Shadow Combo', even with a premonition, it was difficult for it to avoid so many attacks.

It bounced back and forth like a rubber ball between the attacks of the Shadow Fist. This assault, combined with the little devil's own movements, made the already swirling powder in the bakery dance even more vigorously.

Taking advantage of the little devil being continuously hit by the Shadow Fist, Lex turned and ran. He opened a window, jumped onto the sill, and was about to leap out.

Suddenly, a phrase full of foul meaning echoed from the room behind him. Lex froze abruptly, his heart feeling as if it were squeezed by an invisible hand. The intense pain made him fall towards the window.

As he fell, he saw that the 'Shadow Combo' in the room had ended. The little devil, bruised and swollen from the beating, raised its hand, and a faint blue light sparked in its chubby palm.

In an instant, his vision was blocked by the bakery wall. The moment he hit the ground, Lex endured the heart-wrenching pain as if it would burst, forcefully twisting his body to move as far away from the building as possible.

He had only rolled a little when a blaze suddenly erupted in the bakery, and with a loud bang, a violent explosion occurred inside the room.

Flames shot out from the windows and all other openings to the outside, and glass shards were blasted onto the street with a crash.

Lex's back was covered in fragments, but with this violent explosion, the pain in his heart actually eased and gradually disappeared.

Lex, panting, got up and felt a warmth on his face. He wiped it with his hand, only to realize he had a nosebleed.

Looking ahead, after the fierce explosion, even the brick-and-stone bakery was now on the verge of collapse. Soon, the roof above the bakery collapsed, extinguishing the flames inside but raising a cloud of dust.

Lex fanned his hands, clearing the choking dust, and saw a falling rock roll down, then the little devil poked out its head and an arm.

It was on the verge of death from the explosion but still not dead; its tenacious vitality was astonishing.

Lex re-holstered his Golden Revolver and stepped forward.

The little devil could only open one eye now. Seeing Lex approach, it struggled to raise its hand, unsure if it was asking for help or trying to release a fireball.

Suddenly, a foot stomped down, firmly pinning its hand onto the pile of rubble.

Lex stood on it like that, his arm hanging down, the Golden Revolver pressed against the little devil's forehead.

The little devil opened its mouth as if to say something, but was rudely interrupted by a gunshot. The bullet tore open its skull, revealing its black brain inside.

Lex quickly fired, sending all the remaining bullets in the cylinder into the Devil Infant's head. Watching its head fall limply, Lex then stepped back.

"Next life, remember to study hard. If you had studied, you would know not to light a fire in a small room full of powder; it will kill you."

After glancing at the corpse, Lex put away his revolver and quickly left.

He had already heard footsteps approaching.

Returning home, sneaking back into his bedroom, Lex threw all his clothes, weapons, and mask into the secret compartment of the wardrobe.

He then went to the washroom to clean up the bloodstains before lying spread-eagled on the bed. He clearly felt that the residual potion had been completely digested.

After today's battle, he finally confirmed that the digestion of the potion, in addition to being related to his daily acting, also depended heavily on the feedback from his prey.

They were injured in his traps, and killed in his traps, all of which would provide feedback to him, accelerating the digestion of the potion.

On Mermaid Road, using the limited space of the bakery's baking room, he not only restricted the Devil Infant's movement but also created a large amount of powder.

The 'Shadow Combo' at the time, in addition to attacking the opponent, also served to restrain and further spread the powder.

Flour is a combustible powder, and when it is dispersed in the air and its concentration is sufficient, it will explode if ignited.

And in a nearly sealed space like a bakery, the power of the explosion would be even greater!

Limited space, Shadow Combo, combustible powder... Using that bakery, Lex temporarily set up three traps, severely wounding his opponent in one fell swoop.

Only then could he easily finish it off with his revolver and bullets.

At this moment, Lex's fingers trembled slightly. Not from fear, but from excitement.

This was his first time hunting a monster with his own abilities, and this monster was not simple.

This was an important milestone for him after entering the mysterious world!

Only at this moment did Lex feel that he finally looked a bit like a 'Hunter'.

After lying on the bed for a while, Lex heard a faint cry, seemingly his youngest brother Joe crying.
