Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

DAVINA

What are the chances your one-night stand stranger will end up being your husband's step-brother? Zero, according to Chelsea, but give it to the moon goddess at her able attempt to punish me!

My marriage is fucked even before it started. What if Trey decides to reveal the truth to his brother?! Everyone will think I'm a slut, my parents, and Pack will face the cruelest form of shame for ages to come.

Should I just confess the truth to Calvin?

Are you stupid, Davina?!

My wolf blared. My confession would only make things worse. But I have to salvage my marriage; I can't let it fail. If not for anything but my Pack at the very least. My best chance is to meet Trey and make sure he keeps our meeting a secret.

Will he agree?

He has to! I'm his brother's wife!

But is this what we want, though? Davina, we felt that spark again. I miss him.

For goodness' sake, my heart is about to blow, yet my wolf is whining about some spark!

Don't you miss him too? I know you do.

Oh, shut up!

"Babe, are you alright?" Calvin's voice tousled me from my nightmarish world of thoughts. Here we were at the center of the ballroom, dancing to the tunes of the orchestra while our guests watched.

"Y-yeah…" I stuttered, barely able to muster a smile that didn't reveal my brewing anxiety. "I guess the stress is finally starting to eat at me."

He pecked me, "the night's almost over, my love. After this dance, we can run away."

I grinned.

He's watching us!

My grin slowly lost its allure, and I restlessly scanned the room in search of Trey. I've been avoiding him like a plague since we met at the cathedral, but who am I deceiving? We are still bound to meet at the family dinner either way. There he was, alone at the corner of the room: no one wanted to stay around him. Is he that bad?

He smirked at me, briefly flashing me his golden yellow eyes. My heart skipped, it was clear as the ocean that his intentions for me are not pure. I briskly focused on Calvin.

"We've been together for a long time, Calvin. Why didn't you tell me about your brother?"

Calvin's smile lost its sparkle immediately. "Our relationship is complicated. It's a whole baggage delving into the matter."

"Cal, I'm your wife. I deserve to know."

He exhaled deeply, worry gleaming in his eyes.

"Did he…do something bad?"

Another sigh escaped his breath before he nodded. No surprise why my wolf immediately felt a sense of danger when I first met him.

"Trey was born cursed."

My eyes exclaimed.

"He has Lycan's Rage."

"What?!" I gasped. "I've heard it's a very rare and deadly disease."

"When he was younger, he killed seven of our Pack members, ripped them to shreds. If he shifts into his wolf, he'll lose control and become murderous. He can't differentiate between friend and foe. He'll just keep attacking as his thirst for blood is endless."

My jaw dropped. "Is there no cure?"

He shook his head. "He's stuck with the curse for the rest of his life. And that's why I'm the Alpha, not him."

Fuck! I slept with a monster. Now I finally understand why our Pack members hate him.

"Many people misunderstand him. They think he's a monster, but he was just born unlucky. If his mother's blood hadn't been infected, his life would have been so much better. He has a good heart, you'll find out soon enough."

Good heart? Everything about him screams danger.

The music came to an end, and the crowd anchored us with a cheerful applause.

He's gone!

And indeed he was, I couldn't find him or pick up a trail of his scent. Yet why did it terrify me? Where did he disappear to? What's he up to?! I need to find him and make sure he doesn't spill a word.

He's outside! .

"Cal, I'll be right back. I need to use the restroom," I lied, and he hummed before I strode out of the ballroom and only to be welcomed by an empty hallway. Where did he disappear to again? I went back and forth, checking each room in the hallway, but no trace of him. I sighed and headed to the restroom.

"Get a hold of yourself, Davina," I cupped my palms around my cheeks as I stood before the large mirror above the array of wash basins.

"Take deep breaths…"

The door suddenly opened, and my eyes widened to their very limits. I forgot how to draw my breath instantly as fear shook me to my very core.

"Trey…" my lips trembled.

He locked the door behind him and turned off the light switch by the door. The only glow that illuminated the room was his golden yellow eyes.

I took a step back on impulse, "What are you doing here? This is the women's restroom."

"Does it look like I care?" his devilish baritone rocked the room. Before I could phantom my next words, he reached me in a blink. His hand curled around my waist, pulling me close to him so my chest collided against his.

My body came alive with those familiar wild sparks, but this time they were worse.

"Let go of me, Trey!" I tried to push him away, but he growled as his grip grew tighter.

"Does Calvin know? That three nights ago, your sweet moans happily filled my room?"

"Trey, please…" I grunted, "What happened that night was a mistake!"

He scoffed, "Are you sure about that?" The back of his index and middle finger lined to my cheek, and slowly trailed down to my neck, the same spot he gave me a hickey.

"Trey…" I hushed, unable to quell the tingles spreading from his touch.

He leaned in and licked the spot with his tongue. A silent moan slipped, I couldn't resist but helplessly surrendered to his warm touch. This is wrong, I'm married to Calvin now!

"You missed me…" he whispered in my ear, and my eyes sealed shut as he fondled my bosom.

"No…I don't…"

"You say that, but your body is betraying you…"

"Calvin is your brother!" I moaned.

He lifted my chin so he could lock gazes with me. "But you don't love him, do you?"

"I do…"

He spanked my butt. "Another lie."

I winced, yet every atom of my body loved it.

"Does he excite you like I do?"

"Yes."

He spanked me again.

"Does he?"

"Yes!" I lied again just to get another spanking from him. This time he hit me even harder that I couldn't stop myself from letting another moan slip through.

"You're loving this, huh?" he said with a dark smile.

"Yes!"

He spanked me again, and my legs started to tremble. "Trey, we shouldn't be doing this."

"I don't know what you've done to me, Davina," he pressed his thumb against my lips, "Every fiber of my body wants you, and I know you want the same thing too."

"B-but—" he shushed me.

"I won't tell Calvin our little secret, only on one condition."

My heart beat spiked. Why did he feel like he was about to make a devilish demand?

"I don't care about your marriage, but you will continue to be my woman."

"Trey…" I gasped.

He smirked. "Don't act like you don't want it. You can't reject me, can you?"

Davina…

Even my wolf was buying into his charm, but I won't fall! This is cheating. I can't be disloyal to Calvin; he loves me, he treats me right!

But this is a small price to pay! I want him, Davina.

He freed me from his grasp, and it felt like I had just lost a core part of me.

"You have until midnight to make your choice," he said and eased out of the bathroom. Tears ripped through my eyelids.

What will it be, Davina?
