Chapter 85 - Parallel

Thelema Nutriscu saw the female ghost appear and voluntarily dispersed the energy in her hand.

"The people in the city... I didn't kill them."

The ghost explained softly.

"You don't need to explain that to me. I'm not interested in knowing."

Thelema walked up to the ghost and reached out her hand to touch her.

The ghost looked at her movements in confusion. She didn't understand what Thelema was trying to do, but she didn't avoid her either.

Hmm, there's the sensation of touching something!

Thelema felt her hand make contact with the ghost's body—its soul-form was icy cold, yet soft and delicate to the touch.

"Aren't you here for the citizens who died in the city?"

"I came only because I found you interesting."

Thelema grabbed the ghost's arm with both hands. The ghosts of this world were somewhat different from those of other worlds.

That cold, cool feeling—

It was really quite nice.

"Let me touch too."

Songque also reached out and touched the ghost's back.

The ghost, who had been raised with strict etiquette between men and women, didn't mind the touch from Songque and Thelema.

She could tell now.

These two were simply curious about her as a ghost!

Ordinary people, upon seeing a ghost, would run away in terror—

Not dare to touch one.

"Ladies, have you touched enough?" the ghost's voice came, cold and distant.

"Wait, I'm collecting data—just a bit more."

Songque glanced at the interface, where the analysis progress for the ghost bride had reached ninety-two percent.

Once it reached one hundred percent, she finally withdrew her hand. "Alright, thank you for your cooperation."

They had accepted a mission to collect data on souls from other worlds.

"..."

The ghost couldn't understand what they were doing.

Collecting data?

What was that supposed to mean!

If these two had been men, she would have already attacked.

"By the way, do you want to be resurrected?" Songque asked.

"I've been dead for several years. It's impossible for me to return to life."

The ghost shook her head.

"Then do you want to be resurrected?" Thelema asked.

The entire Honkai faction had been researching how to perform universal resurrection in other worlds.

At present, universal resurrection was considered successful—

Although it could only revive those who died within a reality distortion field or spirits who had retained consciousness.

The ghost paused, slightly startled. Could these two really bring her back to life?

She turned toward her family's old residence.

Even if she could be resurrected—so what?

Her loved ones were all dead.

She remained in this world only for revenge.

To kill the murderers who had wiped out her entire family on her wedding day.

But ever since her death, she had been unable to stray far from the Lu family estate.

So she had never been able to take revenge.

"Ladies, since you possess such great powers, may I ask you to help me with something?"

"Let's hear it."

"I want to go out... to take revenge."

...

Houkai Universe.

Bronya had been researching cross-parallel time-space travel for some time.

Parallel timelines were not the same as the new worlds her mother had opened.

Parallel worlds had an extremely high similarity—over 99.9%, nearly identical, differing only in minute details. Countless counterparts could be found.

The main purpose of studying parallel world traversal was to supplement the resource consumption required for opening new worlds.

Opening access to parallel timelines was far easier than creating entirely new worlds.

At this time, the Houkai Universe had already connected and partially fused with many other world-universes through dimensional gateways.

She could now channel the Honkai energy of their universe to open gateways into parallel timelines, drawing resources from them to sustain their consumption.

Infinite parallel worlds meant infinite resources—resources that could be converted into Honkai energy.

"Bronya, take a look at this."

Sirin appeared beside Bronya, bringing out a strange machine from a pocket of space.

"Where did you find that?"

Bronya glanced at the machine and instantly analyzed it.

The seemingly broken machine was, in fact, a time machine.

"Got it from an artificial intelligence called Skynet in another world. Can it travel through time?"

"In its original world, yes. But in other worlds... that, I'm not sure."

Bronya had collected a great deal of black technology from various worlds. In their original worlds, these devices were extremely advanced, but once brought to other realms, they often became little more than junk—or sometimes underwent strange transformations.

Sirin didn't pay much attention to this particular time machine. An artificial intelligence that was nearly defeated by humans had created it—if it didn't work, so be it!

"By the way, Bronya, do you know what this thing behind me is?"

Sirin released the violet halo on her back. It rotated slowly, forming a luminous ring that radiated behind her.

Bronya stared at Sirin's violet halo for a moment before speaking. "It's probably some kind of idealistic or faith-based energy—a manifestation of your own power interacting with belief energy."

"You'd better be careful with those idealistic energies. Absorbing too much might start to affect your consciousness."

Though she preferred machines, Bronya also had a good grasp of metaphysical energies. The thing on her sister's back was likely a form of faith energy.

"This thing can affect my consciousness?"

Sirin reached behind her, grabbed the violet halo, and, under Bronya's astonished gaze, pulled it to the front.

"..."

Bronya was stunned. That halo could be detached?

"What's wrong?" Sirin tilted her head when she saw Bronya's bewildered expression.

"Nothing—just a little surprised."

Bronya quickly understood the situation. In one of the special worlds, humans had started to worship Sirin. The faith energy from those worlds was channeling through interdimensional pathways, gathering around her.

But Sirin herself rejected those energies. Her sister despised humanity and disdained their feeble power. Over time, that faith energy mingled with Sirin's own, forming this radiant halo.

In terms of composition, over eighty percent of the halo's energy came from Sirin herself.

"As long as you don't absorb it, it won't affect you," Bronya said.

She herself had received faith energy too, but like Kiana Kaslana, she consolidated and redirected it elsewhere. In her view, such idealistic power—derived from human belief—was toxic.

It subtly eroded a being's consciousness. The more one relied on it, the more it influenced their mind.

When such energy completely replaced an individual's essence, losing it afterward would mean that individual's disappearance.

They already had their own Honkai energy. There was no need to depend on this kind of idealistic force.

"Good. This thing is actually quite handy."

Sirin threw the violet halo like a frisbee. Controlling it, she sliced entire planets cleanly in half.

"My dear sister~ you must be really bored!"

"Uh..."

Seeing Bronya's expression—clearly on the verge of smacking her—Sirin quietly stopped her destructive play.

The planets of the Houkai Universe had no life, but many served as experimental grounds.

Seriously!

Bronya casually restored the damaged planet, then said to Sirin, "Our Honkai energy problem has been solved. There are countless worlds out there—why don't you go explore them?"

"I already did."

Sirin toyed with the now-shrunken violet halo. Most of the worlds' inhabitants were still busy playing with mud, throwing stones, or boiling water—utterly boring.

"Then go find Mom! Stop bothering me."

Bronya knew her sister's personality well. Except for a very few people, Sirin was essentially a recluse who rarely interacted with anyone else.
