What exactly was he playing at?
Just like that, he turned away from her and only stopped when he got to his chair. He looked through some of the books on the table and began to speak.
"You can't feed the child milk for a week. You will have one to give and you will have to rely on other means."
That distracted her for a moment.
That was good. He was talking about her son and he was speaking a lot about him in a way that signified that he was alive.
That was good enough for her. For now. She wanted to ask questions but she tried not to. Scared that he wouldn't respond to her. Not only that but that he would just stop speaking to her about her son and leave.
"Why?" She has asked before she could even stop herself.

"The poison. We need to monitor it and ensure it doesn't get to the child."
