Chapter 28 - Aftermath
The room was quiet after they had left.
Rosabel helped Idalia with her injuries as usual. She didn't ask her any questions, and no words were spoken.
First, she had made sure that Arik was alright. Though not injured, he seemed shaken about what he had experienced. Idalia felt even worse when she realised how much of this violence he was being made to experience lately. She didn't let him go until he stopped crying and was now asleep.

Her Arik.
In trying to take the next step and do the right thing, she was putting the very one she was here to protect in harm's way.
Her hand trembled around him even as she laid him on the bed. Clean, fed, and asleep.

Rosabel did everything and Idalia was more than grateful for that.
