Chapter 65 - 65

Loki was the first to reach the end of the Bifrost, fully powering it on and setting Jotunheim as the target destination.

The Bifrost not only serves as a teleportation device but also as a superweapon capable of destroying planets. When fully activated, the Bifrost could annihilate Jotunheim and exterminate its Frost Giants.

Loki, desperate for Odin's approval, had become completely unhinged. Despite knowing he was of Frost Giant descent, he was still willing to slaughter the entire race, a testament to his ruthless nature.

The fully activated Bifrost unleashed a terrifying, rainbow-colored beam of energy directly at Jotunheim. Without their king's command, the Frost Giants were already disorganized, and after such a violent attack, they scattered in all directions.

In an instant, countless Frost Giants were killed or injured, and Jotunheim was filled with screams, cries of pain, and roars of anger. They would never know that the one responsible for all this was a descendant of their own kind...

After Loki had done all this, Thor, riding Mjolnir, finally arrived. It was unclear why Loki, on horseback, had been faster than Thor flying.

"Loki, what have you done?" Thor demanded, looking at the ice-sealed Bifrost and the Loki standing there.

"What have I done? I've done what you should have done! I've ended the millennia-long war between Asgard and Jotunheim. I did this to prove that I am more fit to be the king of Asgard than you are!"

Loki's face was contorted with madness as he roared his reply to Thor's accusation.

"No, you can't do this! You'll destroy Jotunheim! You'll slaughter the entire Frost Giant race! We cannot become butchers who annihilate a species!"

After his banishment to Earth, Thor had matured significantly. He finally understood the meaning of his father Odin's words: a true king never initiates war.

Endless wars never have true winners; they only plunge one's people into endless cycles of killing and being killed.

"Haha, after a trip to Midgard, you've become so cowardly. Where is the Thor who used to rush into enemy territory at the slightest provocation, eager to start a war?"

"Now you're lecturing me? What caused such a drastic change in you? Oh, I understand. It's that woman you met on Midgard, Jane, isn't it? It seems after this, I'll have to pay her a personal visit!"

Loki's expression shifted. For some reason, his brother changing for a mere mortal made him feel a pang of jealousy. O(∩_∩)O

"I will stop you, Loki!" Thor said, abandoning further talk and preparing to act. The simpleton didn't realize Loki had been talking so much just to buy time.

With the Bifrost frozen and operating at full power, the energy was accumulating rapidly. In a little more time, it would be impossible to stop it.

As Thor prepared to strike, his body began to crackle with silver lightning, his aura continuously rising. The current Thor was far, far more powerful than before.

With his aura at its peak, Thor charged at Loki, Mjolnir in hand. Loki, not to be outdone, held his spear with both hands, ready to meet Thor head-on.

Unfortunately, Loki was instantly sent flying by a single hammer blow from Thor. This was despite him wielding Odin's artifact, the Gungnir. He couldn't even withstand one attack from Thor in this state.

"Is this the power of Asgardian divine blood?" Loki was astonished, his eyes wide with disbelief as he looked at Thor's lightning-wreathed form.

He had imagined that Thor would at best fight him to a draw, or perhaps be slightly stronger, allowing him to stall until the Bifrost destroyed Jotunheim.

But the strength Thor was displaying now was beyond his ability to contend with. How was he supposed to buy time?

..."Father, why have you come?" Loki, having been knocked back and landed, suddenly looked serious, staring behind Thor and speaking with utmost reverence.

The simple-minded Thor was startled and quickly turned around to look behind him, only to immediately regret it.

The moment Thor turned his head, a cunning smile appeared on Loki's face. Wielding the Gungnir, he unleashed his strongest attack: a beam of light directly at Thor's back.

Thor, sensing danger, had no time to dodge and was sent flying by the dazzling yellow beam, landing on the glass-like surface of the Bifrost.

Having suffered such a heavy blow, Thor was seriously injured. His chest churned with surging blood, and it took him a long time to calm down. This was still because Loki was far from unleashing the true power of the Gungnir.

Loki, having landed a successful hit, wouldn't let such a good opportunity pass. He quickly rushed towards the fallen Thor, preparing to strike him while he was down. (Perhaps "press the advantage" would be better ^_^)

Energy attacks require one's own divine power to be unleashed. That last strike was Loki's full-power output, and of course, it had a cooldown. He couldn't use it again in a short period, so he could only engage Thor in close combat.

Thor, lying on the ground, scrambled to his feet and hastily parried Loki's rapidly thrusting spear.

Because Loki had the advantage of the first strike, Thor was forced into a defensive position, unable to counterattack.

However, Thor's gaze was fixed on the Bifrost. A massive amount of energy was continuously converging there, and the immense energy was impacting Jotunheim. If he delayed any longer, he truly wouldn't be able to shut down the Bifrost.

Anxious, Thor cast aside his reluctance to harm Loki. He channeled his divine power with all his might, raised Mjolnir, and summoned a lightning bolt as thick as a barrel, striking Loki's body with full force.

Loki was directly blasted away by the violent attack, like a kite with a broken string. The direction he fell was precisely towards the edge of the Bifrost.

Just as Loki was about to fall beneath the Bifrost, he reached out his right hand and grabbed the edge of the bridge.

"Quick, save me! Your attack was too powerful; I'm seriously injured and about to lose my grip."

Loki pleaded with Thor on the bridge, his face etched with pitiful sorrow.

"Loki, you won't trick me again! I won't fall for your schemes anymore!"

"I'm really not lying this time, brother! I can't hold on! Come and pull me up!"

Seeing Thor's disbelief and his intention to walk towards the Bifrost, Loki cried out anxiously, even calling Thor "brother."

Thor's movement abruptly stopped. This time, it didn't seem like Loki's trick, but Thor was still hesitant, unsure whether to go and help.

"Brother, I don't blame you. This is all my own doing."

Loki seemed to lose all strength, slowly letting go of the Bifrost's edge and falling into the abyss below the bridge.

"No!!!" Thor didn't hesitate, lunging forward to try and grab Loki's hand, but he was a step too late and missed. He could only lie on the bridge, watching Loki's falling figure, whose eyes looked up at him weakly, as if to say, "It's not your fault."

Watching Loki disappear from sight, Thor's face was filled with rage, regret, and self-reproach! Tears welled up in his eyes. Why hadn't he acted sooner? Then his brother Loki wouldn't have died...

And so, Thor was immersed in regret for several minutes, unable to pull himself out of it. When he came to his senses, he bravely held back his tears and looked at the Bifrost, which was now filled with immense energy and could no longer be shut down.

"Jane, forgive me! I have to do this."

"Brother, forgive me! I cannot let you be the one who slaughters an entire race!"

Thor stood up, transforming his grief into strength. Countless lightning bolts surged around him, and his aura became even stronger than before.

With his aura at its peak, Thor raised Mjolnir in his right hand and slammed it down onto the Bifrost with all his might. He intended to destroy the Bifrost, to destroy Asgard's path to the Nine Realms.

"No!!!"
