Summer dragged herself home, her steps heavy and spirit low. She collapsed onto the sofa, and her bag slipped from her hand, hitting the floor with a dull thud.
"Summer?" Holy hurried over, alarmed. "Are you alright?"
"What's wrong?" Chloe stepped out of her room after hearing the noise. The moment she saw Summer's pale, exhausted face, her concern deepened. "Are you feeling light-headed? Where is your medicine?"
She bent down, picked up the bag, and began rummaging through it.
"I'm fine," Summer said weakly. "Just tired."
Holy released a helpless sigh. "You should've rested for a few days, but you didn't listen and went back to work. Stop being so stubborn. Take at least a week off before you even think about starting to work."
A week?
Gideon was planning to return to his hometown in a week. Summer had promised to go with him. At first, it had been about revenge for Hope, but now things were different.
She had to find her son.
