Danica's face tightened in disbelief and humiliation. She stared at Gideon as though he had spoken a foreign language. Even Summer was stunned. She thought Gideon would blame her and took Danica's side. But instead, he was silencing Danica. What had happened to him?
"You are telling me to calm down?" Danica fumed, face turning red. "Don't you understand the gravity of the situation? Because of him, we've been running around like lunatics. I thought I lost him. I was terrified—sick to my stomach. It's all because that brat went away with a stranger."
Noel shrank further behind Summer.
Danica's fury only intensified at the sight. "What do you expect me to do? Smile and clap?" she snapped. "If I don't discipline him, he will repeat this. What if next time he follows someone dangerous? What if I actually lose him? You think this is a game?"
Her face contorted in anger and wounded pride as she looked back at Gideon. "Despite knowing everything, you are silencing me."
