Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 Unexpected Kiss

Overhaul: "So you failed on the mission."

He pressed, turning his attention to Kiyozawa with genuine curiosity despite what happened earlier.

Overhaul: "What happened during the meeting?"

Kiyozawa remained silent, his jaw clenched tightly as he avoided making eye contact - clearly reluctant to share details of his failure in front of Overhaul.

Kiyozawa: "They attacked first."

He began, his voice low and measured as he finally spoke up.

Kiyozawa: "I killed a man and a girl..."

He paused, his face contorting with guilt and uncertainty.

Kiyozawa: "I'm not sure if I killed the other guy."

He looked up at Overhaul briefly before continuing quickly.

Kiyozawa: "I said my name only - not yours. So if you're thinking they might come after you...they won't."

His words hung heavily in the air - admitting his violent actions.

Overhaul: "Well at least you got rid of some competition."

He remarked unexpectedly, almost sounding impressed by Kiyozawa's ruthless actions. There was something almost unsettling about how quickly he seemed to accept and even praise Kiyozawa's violent deeds - it showed just how alike they were in some twisted way despite their different upbringings.

Zentaro stepped back into the room and noticed this immediate bonding over murder with growing concern.

Zentaro: "Overhaul."

He warned sharply.

Zentaro: "This isn't something to joke about."

Overhaul fell silent as Zentaro entered the room, his earlier enthusiasm for Kiyozawa's violent tendencies immediately replaced with cautious obedience. He knew better than to continue that line of conversation in front of Zentaro.

Zentaro's stern expression made it clear he wasn't pleased with Overhaul's approval of murder as a solution to problems. Zentaro turned his attention to Overhaul expectantly, waiting for him to follow through on his earlier promise to heal the boss.

Zentaro: "Well? Get on with it then."

Overhaul sighed heavily as he began to heal his unconscious father, using his quirk to mend the broken bones and repair the internal damage. However, as the boss stirred awake, his eyes fluttering open, Zentaro suddenly stepped forward and placed a hand on his forehead. A soft glow emanated from his palm, and the boss's expression went blank - his memories of the recent events seemingly erased. Overhaul stared in shock at this unexpected development, his mind racing with possibilities. What was Zentaro planning?

Overhaul: "..."

Zentaro: "You're working for the Angels of Slaughter now, Chisaki."

He stated calmly, turning to face Overhaul with an air of authority. His tone made it clear that this was not a request or suggestion, but an order - one that Overhaul could not refuse given the power dynamics between them.

Zentaro eyes bore into Overhaul's, silently conveying the unspoken threat: disobey and face the consequence.

Zentaro: "Understood?"

He added curtly.

Overhaul: "Yes..."

He replied softly, his voice lacking its usual confidence and power. The single word held a mix of resignation and understanding - he knew better than to argue with Zentaro.

Overhaul lowered his head slightly in acknowledgement, accepting his new role under Zentaro's authority without protest. The shift in power dynamics was palpable; Overhaul was now firmly under Zentaro's control within the Angels of Slaughter hierarchy.

(Next day).

The next morning, Kiyozawa woke up early and immediately checked his phone, hoping to see a response from Amaya. However, his screen remained disappointingly blank - no messages from her awaited him. A small frown tugged at the corners of his mouth as he set the device aside, wondering if something had happened to prevent her from replying or if she was simply ignoring him intentionally.

(In his mind).

"Amaya..."

As he sat there, his mind wandered back to the intense events of the League of Villains meeting. He remembered the chaos, the sudden attacks, and his own brutal response - the lives he had taken in a flash of violence. His thoughts then shifted to that moment when he intervened on Overhaul's behalf against Zentaro's anger...

"Why did l step in?"

Recalling how protective he had been despite their complicated relationship.

(Out of his mind).

(Meanwhile outside of the Angels Of Slaughter Base).

Overhaul: "Stupid old man."

He muttered under his breath, his mind replaying the events of the previous day. He remembered the deal he had struck with Zentaro - a deal that now bound him more tightly to the Angels Of Slaughter Yakuza Boss control. However, there was a small silver lining; his boss didn't remember yesterday's events thanks to Zentaro wiping his memory. Overhaul found himself oddly grateful for that fact despite everything else happening around him.

Amaya: "Kiyozawa..."

She called out softly, her voice gentle despite the serious expression on her face. She approached him, her eyes lingering on his red eyes. Even though it's Overhaul who still has the red eye contacts. Wearing to maintain his disguise as Kiyozawa.

Amaya: "Just so you know."

She continued calmly.

Amaya: Killing those innocent people wasn't good. I don't know why you resort to violence."

Her words were straightforward and honest, showing her true nature - she didn't approve of unnecessary killing or violence.

Amaya: "Kiyozawa... I love you!"

She declared suddenly, her cheeks flushed pink with embarrassment and emotion. She stepped closer to him, her hands reaching out to gently grasp his arms.

Amaya: "But I just want you to stop doing violence and be with me."

She added sincerely, her heart laid bare before him. Overhaul's eyes widened in shock behind the red contacts - Amaya had just confessed her feelings to him, believing him to be Kiyozawa.

Overhaul stood frozen in shock as Amaya slapped him across the face - a sudden and unexpected gesture that left him reeling both physically and emotionally. Her words echoed in his mind: *"Kiyozawa I love you!"* She confessed her feelings to Kiyozawa - or rather, Overhaul pretending to be Kiyozawa - without realizing she was pouring her heart out to someone else entirely. Overhaul's eyes widened behind those red contacts; this was not how things were supposed to go according to plan whatsoever..

Overhaul: "Amaya..."

He whispered softly.

Amaya's lips pressed gently against Overhaul's, unaware that she was actually kissing a Yakuza family alliance comrade disguised as her future boyfriend. Overhaul's surprise quickly gave way to instinct - he kissed her back softly, momentarily lost in the tenderness of the moment. But their intimate display was suddenly interrupted by the sound of shattered glass - Kiyozawa had broken his phone in jealous rage watching them kiss, realizing Amaya was confessing her love to someone who looked like him but wasn't truly him.

Amaya pulled away from the kiss, startled as she looked back and saw Kiyozawa standing there - his face contorted with tears of heartbreak and anger.

Amaya: "Kiyo-"

Before she could even finish saying his name, he abruptly took off into the sky using his black wings with astonishing speed, fleeing from the scene without another word or glance back. Amaya was left standing alone, confusion and shock written all over her face as she watched Kiyozawa disappear into the distance.

Overhaul: "You kissed me instead."

He remarked with a smirk, his voice laced with amusement and something else he quickly suppressed. He watched Amaya's reaction closely - she had just accidentally confessed her love to him while thinking he was Kiyozawa. She had also just witnessed Kiyozawa storm off in jealous rage after seeing them share a brief romantic moment together. Overhaul couldn't help but find the situation incredibly ironic and funny on multiple levels.

Overhaul: "Seems like he got jealous."

He added mockingly.

Overhaul: "Poor little angel."

Amaya: "Shut up."

She snapped back at Overhaul, her face flushed with embarrassment and annoyance. She hated how he was mocking Kiyozawa's jealousy - it made her feel even worse about the entire situation. She had just kissed the wrong person, confessed her love to the wrong boy, and now Kiyozawa thought she liked Overhaul instead of him. It was a complete disaster.

Amaya: "You're not even him."

She muttered bitterly under her breath.

Overhaul: "You did kiss me."

He repeated smugly, his smirk growing wider as he intentionally leaned forward slightly to provoke Amaya further. In response, she suddenly pulled out a small knife hidden in her dress and threw it at him - but deliberately missed by inches to make her point clear without actually harming him. The knife embedded itself harmlessly into the wall behind Overhaul instead. His smirk faded instantly upon realizing she was serious about shutting him up by any means necessary if he kept teasing her about the kiss or Kiyozawa's jealousy.

Amaya: "I have to find him."

She exclaimed, her voice filled with desperation as she took off running in the direction Kiyozawa had disappeared. In her haste, she didn't notice that Ruby ran outside with her. Ruby's leash had gotten wrapped around Overhaul's ankle when the excited dog lunged forward to chase after Amaya. Suddenly finding himself being dragged along by a giant pug on steroids, Overhaul let out an undignified yelp of surprise.

Overhaul: "What the—"

Ruby, her huge nose twitching excitedly as she caught Kiyozawa's scent in the air, bounded forward eagerly, leash still tightly wrapped around Overhaul's ankle. With each powerful leap she took, Overhaul was jerked along behind her like an unwanted accessory. Amaya, focused solely on finding Kiyozawa, barely noticed Overhaul's predicament as she chased after the determined pug. She simply followed Ruby's lead, oblivious to the fact that she was inadvertently dragging Overhaul along for the ride.
