Spider stood in the middle of the empty training hall with his hands behind his back. His smile was bigger than usual.
Shota stood in front of him, trying to look serious while secretly hoping this final lesson would be amazing.
Two months of pain, poison, and no naps had to be worth something.
Spider spread his arms dramatically. "Now for the final lesson. I will teach you my personal jutsu, just like I promised."
Shota crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. "It better be good. I suffered for two whole months. I deserve something amazing."
Spider puffed out his chest. "The jutsu comes in various stages. The first stage is called Secret Art: Spider Netand the second stage is called Ninja Art: Spider Web. There is one final stage which I will demonstrate to you."
Shota stared at him for a long second. "Very original, sensei. Did you think about that name all by yourself, or did a spider whisper it in your ear while you were sleeping?"
Spider's proud face fell. "Hey! I worked years on this! Lady Chiyo called me an idiot every day while I trained it. She said the name was stupid too. You are just like her!"
Shota tried not to laugh. He failed a little.
Spider cleared his throat and continued. "Anyway, the simple version or the first stage of the jutsu lets you sense people in complete darkness. That is how I found you when the lights were off on your first day. And it would be very helpful for people like you and me who have no capability at sensing people. You would be able to use it to sense people in a short range whether it is dark or not."
Shota suddenly remembered something. "Wait. Could I not just push chakra into my eyes to see in the dark? Like night vision?"
Spider looked at him like he had suggested jumping into a volcano. "Are you stupid? Where did you even hear that? Never do it. Your eyes would explode. Even the best medical ninja cannot fix exploded eyes. Promise me you will never try. Your dojutsu is very important to the village....and well so are you."
Spider added the last part embarassed.
Shota felt cold sweat on his back. All those fanfiction stories and cultivation novels about glowing eyes were lies. He thought that he could have a divine sight or mage sight but it looks like that was not a healthy option. Good thing he never tested it.
Spider relaxed when Shota nodded quickly. "Good. Now pay attention."
He lifted one hand. "This jutsu uses chakra strings. Yes, I am not a puppeteer, but my control is excellent. Lady Chiyo took me as a student because my talent with chakra strings were special from the start. I could create hundreds of them and control them easily."
Shota listened Spider praise himself carefully and then showcase the jutsu.
He moved his fingers. Invisible threads shot out and stuck to the walls, floor, and ceiling. In seconds the whole room was covered in a giant web that Shota could barely see.
Shota couldn't see these threads. Spider put more chakra into these threads so they become visible as blue chakra threads to the naked eye.
Shota could see that while there were hundreds of threads spread throughout the room. Spider only had a single chakra threads connected to his finger.
Spider continued. "With this, If you disturb any thread, I would get the feedback and know where you are. This is the first stage of my creation."
Spider said, "Now for the second stage of this jutsu."
He left one bigger web made of Chakra threads on the floor invisible to Shota, connected by a single thread to his finger. "Take two steps forward."
Shota stepped forward. The moment his foot touched the web, it flashed bright blue. Strings wrapped around his legs and arms faster than he could blink. He tried to move, but the web held him tight.
Spider fed more chakra into the strings. They became solid and strong. Shota struggled but could not break free.
Spider smiled. "See? Trapped."
Shota stopped struggling. "Very cool, sensei. Can you let me go now?"
Spider snapped his fingers. The web vanished, and Shota fell on his butt.
Spider helped him up. "That was how you can trap people using this jutsu."
He formed new strings. This time they glowed faint green and looked sharp. He flicked one finger. A single string sliced the stone floor like butter.
Shota's eyes went wide.
"Nature transformation with Chakra Strings" Spider said proudly. "You mix wind chakra into the strings. They become visible since they are made of an elemental chakra and sharp, but they cut anything. This is the final step. It is called Ninja Art: Spider Reaper Threads."
Shota's mind raced with ideas. He could see various uses of all these jutsus and how he can create more jutsus from just this demonstration.
Spider watched his face and laughed. "Do not get excited yet. Adding nature transformation to strings is extremely hard. And it would also require a very high degree of shape transformation. Not to mention a higher level of chakra control and concentration. Most people never manage it. I call the full version S-rank difficulty. But people say you have talent, so maybe you will learn faster if ever."
Shota wanted to shout that he had no idea what talent they were talking about, but he kept quiet.
'I never should have used Rasengan after seeing Minato use it. Now I am some talented prodigy in their eyes. Well, now their perception would be shattered so it should be fine.' Shota thought
Spider put his hands in his pockets. "Your basic ANBU training is finished. Starting next week you will get real missions. One mission per week. The rest of the days you train."
Shota smiled inside.
'That is way less missions than others. I guess they took my lazy nature in account.'
Spider saw the smile and shook his head. "Enjoy your rest while you still can, Raven."
His voice sounded dark and serious. Shota felt a chill run down his spine.
