Chapter 245 - So, Guilliman, what is the price?

Alexander knew that he was absolutely right to leave professional matters to professionals.

Guilliman was like a rigorously operating political machine, suppressing all self, emotion, and irrational parts beneath a seemingly gentle smile, meticulously striving for every human interest and avoiding every conspiracy Cegorach tried to plant.

Even the Aeldari's Laughing God could not rival Guilliman politically; Guilliman's will seemed to merge with the vast sea of documents, step by step eroding Cegorach's island of trickery.

Guilliman even demanded a temporary freeze on humanity's obligations in the agreement, citing that he had not yet been authorized to represent the entire human race.

And he, in turn, demanded that Cegorach, as the Aeldari's most independently capable deity, immediately begin fulfilling the Aeldari's obligations in the agreement.

In short, humanity would freeload off the Aeldari until Guilliman, Sanguinius, and Alexander returned to Terra.

He truly wondered what methods Guilliman used to make Cegorach agree to such an outrageous demand.

After the basic agreement was reached, Alexander, Sanguinius, and Guilliman first retreated to the Ptolemy Library on Macragge.

The agreements, drafted by Guilliman in a short time, were also sent there.

Looking at the mountain of agreements, Tigurius, the Chief Librarian and master of the Ptolemy Library, raised his head in a daze.

The Chief Librarian was no longer as spirited as before; his figure was somewhat gaunt, the hair between the cables had turned a bit white, his face showed deep fatigue, and the Psyker glow in his eyes had weakened.

Guilliman had given Tigurius two tasks.

The first was to organize all historical materials in the Ptolemy Library and unearth the true history of the Imperium over the past ten thousand years.

Humanity needed a true history to guide its future, and Guilliman himself needed it too.

The second was to seal all historical materials concerning the Second Imperium and compile new ones to fill that period.

This was the real reason for Tigurius' fatigue; filling a period of history was no easy feat.

Looking at Tigurius' ravaged face, Alexander immediately felt a pang of heartache.

He reached into his four-dimensional pocket and pushed the Aeldari historical records of the Second Imperium towards Tigurius.

"These are the Aeldari's records of the Second Imperium's history." Saying this, Alexander patted Tigurius on the shoulder: "Hope this helps you."

Tigurius looked at Alexander with a dead, dazed, and pained expression. What kind of overtime could make him show such a desperate look?

After Tigurius, like a servitor, carried away the documents, Alexander looked at Guilliman.

"This will be a comprehensive cooperation. The Aeldari will open the Black Library, the Webway, and various xenos technologies to us. At the same time, the Harlequin will also be at our disposal, becoming part of our strength.

More specifically, there will be profit sharing for each planet, joint command of the two races' armies, intelligence sharing, and the position of certain Aeldari Craftworlds and Commorragh in the cooperation between humanity and the Aeldari…"

Guilliman quickly informed Alexander of the benefits he had secured from the Aeldari, making Alexander's head spin.

"These are basic overviews; the specifics are much more complex. You can read them carefully after Tigurius finishes organizing them—"

"No thanks!"

Alexander took a step back in horror.

Guilliman was, in a sense, one of the most terrifying Primarchs; he seemed to have a unique talent for drawing others into his work, making them, within his order, become miserable tools just like him.

Alexander even suspected this was an external manifestation of Guilliman's Warp nature; even Cegorach seemed unable to escape his influence.

"Just tell me what Cegorach wants from us," Alexander asked Guilliman in return.

Gaining the help of the Laughing God and the entire Aeldari would obviously not be without a price.

Although Guilliman had deferred this price until after their return to Terra.

"I imagine you wouldn't be interested in the specific exchange of benefits either."

Guilliman thought for a moment, organized his thoughts, and said to Alexander:

"I'll only mention what's relevant to you, and what Cegorach most desires."

"First, Cegorach demands that you must send at least enough Aeldari to maintain the continuation of the Aeldari species into the four-dimensional pocket."

"Second, when the Aeldari face a potential extinction-level disaster, you must send as many Aeldari as possible into the four-dimensional pocket."

"Third, you must hunt the Incarnation of Ynnead, put the Incarnation of Ynnead into the four-dimensional pocket, and make him return to silence."

"Hmm, so what's the price?" Alexander asked, blinking in confusion.

Why was he only talking about benefits and not the price?

Putting the Aeldari into the four-dimensional pocket to sell them, wasn't that just giving him free money?

Hunting Ynnead was the same; even if Cegorach didn't say it, Alexander didn't plan to let Ynnead go.

Or rather, Ynnead didn't seem likely to let Alexander go either.

Competition in their domains, and taking away Cegorach, these were all things that hindered Ynnead's true birth.

Looking at Guilliman's expression, Alexander slightly raised his eyebrows.

"This is the price?" he couldn't help but ask.

Guilliman nodded slightly.

"Huh?" A question mark appeared above Alexander's head.

Hunting the Incarnation of Ynnead was understandable; Cegorach clearly wanted to prevent Ynnead's ascension to godhood from completely destroying the Aeldari.

Destroying Ynnead's Incarnation would cause his main will to return to complete silence, which would be safer for the Aeldari.

If truly needed, they could even try to reawaken him later.

But putting the Aeldari into the four-dimensional pocket… Damn, the Aeldari sold by the four-dimensional pocket really didn't seem to have their souls return to Slaanesh.

Could it be that in Cegorach's eyes, the four-dimensional pocket really led to the 22nd century?

Honestly, Alexander himself felt uncertain about this; where the items sold by the four-dimensional pocket went was a mystery even to Alexander.

But since Cegorach was so certain… Alexander wouldn't refuse the benefits that came his way.

"When does he plan to hunt the Incarnation of Ynnead?" Alexander asked Guilliman.

"He claims it can be any time; he will invite Ynnead to the Black Library to discuss the future of the Aeldari."

"What a simple and straightforward trick…" Alexander's mouth twitched slightly.

The Incarnation of Ynnead shouldn't be too difficult to deal with; at the beginning of his Incarnation's birth, with the cooperation of a group of people, he only managed to fight Slaanesh's Chief Greater Daemon Shalaxi Helbane; being beaten by Tzeentch's champion Ahriman in comparison didn't seem too embarrassing.

Even now that the Death Guard held four old crone swords and Ynnead's power had awakened more, he was unlikely to match a Primarch.

Alexander just wanted to try out the Curse he had just retrieved from the Black Library on Ynnead.

"You should perfect your faith as soon as possible."

Sanguinius seemed to have sensed Alexander's thoughts:

"Your current faith is too chaotic and disordered; a large amount of faith cannot flow into you and Greater Daemon, which greatly limits Greater Daemon's power."

"If you want to master the Curse in a short time, you need to use the power of faith to enhance your and Greater Daemon's power."

Alexander nodded slightly in agreement, while Guilliman frowned a little.

He had always been somewhat skeptical of things like faith, tending to believe it was just a special Psyker phenomenon.

"Oh, right."

Guilliman suddenly spoke:

"Lord Alexander, I received an application in the office just now."

"A Chapter that does not belong to me or Sanguinius wishes to meet with you."
