The Norn Emissaries and Norn Assimilators became blurs, transforming into streaks of afterimages across the desert in front of Angel Keep.
The defensive lasers behind the Void Shield converged into beams, forming azure blades that shot towards the three giant beasts.
However, the Norn Emissaries and Norn Assimilators displayed a speed completely unbefitting their size; they easily flickered between the lasers.
And while the artillery and heavy bolter fire unleashed by the Angel Keep defenders occasionally hit the three giant beasts, it was utterly negligible against the psychic shields raised by the Norn Emissaries.
Psychic sparks erupted from the massive brain tissue beneath the chitinous coronet of a Norn Emissary, and two scorching psychic lances tore through the battlefield's smoke, piercing directly into the Void Shield.
For a moment, ripples surged across the Void Shield, as torrents of heat from the Empyrean exploded against the violet Void Shield.
On the city walls, the mortals behind the Void Shield screamed in terror. The Void Shield continuously shook, looking like a bubble about to burst.
"Don't panic! This is a technical power discharge! The Void Shield won't collapse!" Lager, sensing the wavering morale, quickly roared at the top of his lungs.
As a gang hooligan who survived the Lower Nest, Lager understood better than anyone what people feared—
Boom!!!!
The ground suddenly trembled, and a giant, snake-like head abruptly rose from outside the Void Shield, its viper-like tongue Damning.
Taking advantage of the Void Shield being rippled by the psychic lances, obscuring the defenders' vision, two Norn Emissaries forcefully teleported the enormous Norn Assimilator in front of the Void Shield using powerful psychic energy.
"Concentrate fire!!!" Dante roared, and instantly, all of Angel Keep's firepower was unleashed upon the Norn Assimilator.
But the giant beast ignored it, relying on its massive body and thick carapace to withstand the continuous barrage of fire.
The sharp spikes on the Norn Assimilator's chest transformed into tentacles and stabbed out, easily penetrating the Void Shield. These sharp, spiked tentacles suddenly sprayed out streams of dark green pus.
This highly potent toxic solution, carefully concocted by the Tyranids, splattered onto the city walls. In an instant, even the Astartes' power armor dissolved. Sanguinius' bloodsons wailed, their flesh spreading and festering, even their bones turning into pus.
The entire city wall of Angel Keep was disintegrating. The Norn Assimilator pierced the Void Shield with its claws, slowly drilling into it.
The Void Shield was essentially a Warp force field, not a physical shield, capable of absorbing heat, redirecting kinetic energy, and annihilating artillery fire.
Any creature could pass through the Void Shield, but in the process of passing through, most of its kinetic energy would be absorbed by the Void Shield.
However, this type of attack from the Norn Assimilator was precisely what the Void Shield found difficult to defend against.
In an instant, the front line began to collapse, and the two Norn Emissaries also reached the front line.
Dante let out a sigh of sorrow. No wonder, in Alexander's description, the Norn Emissaries and Norn Assimilators were the most terrifying units.
Just three of them had almost defeated the entire defense line of Angel Keep.
"Overload the Void Shield!" Dante gave the command without hesitation.
Streams of hot light erupted from the Void Shield's energy core, injecting far more than the normal amount of energy into the Void Shield.
In an instant, the entire Void Shield became a dazzling light bubble, almost no longer transparent. The Norn Assimilator, caught within it, was almost swallowed by the light.
Cracking and popping sounds erupted, as if reality itself was wailing.
Then, the entire Void Shield disintegrated under the overloaded energy, exploding into a torrent of Warp energy, and the resulting shockwave directly stirred up a sandstorm near Angel Keep.
The Norn Assimilator let out a mournful cry. Such intense Warp power was released that it, caught in the middle of the Void Shield, was almost torn apart. Its shattered body crashed heavily onto the city wall, collapsing a section of it. Toxic fluid continuously flowed from its severely wounded body, forming a bubbling pit of poison on the ground.
Many mortals and Astartes were either crushed by the Norn Assimilator or covered by the poison.
But regardless, this giant beast had lost its combat capability. Only the remaining two would not be so easy to deal with.
The Norn Emissaries roared, unleashing streams of psychic pulses that bombarded the damaged city walls, shaking the entire Angel Keep.
The Tyranids also began to move again, surging into Angel Keep, following closely behind the Norn Emissaries.
Dante let out a sigh, his Chainsword igniting.
Such a giant beast should at least require a Knight Household as Dante's aid to fight against.
But now, all Dante could rely on was his Chainsword and the Archangel's fury.
In Dante's eyes, the figure of one of the Norn Emissaries gradually merged with Horus—
A silver longsword arced through the air, pure feathers scattered on the ground, and white light shimmered like dawn.
For a moment, Dante almost thought Sanguinius stood beside him, but when he looked up, he saw a golden mask.
Sanguinius descended above Angel Keep.
"Finally!" But before Dante could get excited, the scene below surpassed his imagination.
He had witnessed Sanguinius' descent several times before, but this was the first time he had seen a sight like this.
People were dying, and the Tyranids roared as they rushed through the breaches in the city walls into Angel Keep. In an instant, the entire area near the city wall became a killing zone.
Lager and the other Ashford people around him unleashed fire from their lasguns. However, once the distance was close enough, the speed at which mortals pulled the trigger simply couldn't keep up with the Tyranids.
Lager watched with his own eyes as the bodies of Ashford people were torn apart by the Tyranids, and saw the Lexio troops swallowed by the Tyranids tide.
A Lexio elder pulled the pin on a suicide grenade before being engulfed by the Tyranids tide, and the nomads followed him, launching a suicidal attack.
Their sacrifice temporarily bought other mortal forces a little time to retreat.
But it was far from enough; the Tyranids quickly surrounded them.
Lager's squad and One-Eye's squad were scattered, and Lager didn't even know if he was still alive.
A Hormagaunt leaped up, easily tearing apart an Ashford person very close to Lager.
That Ashford person used to be a worker in Verdian city and had beaten Lager outside One-Eye's bar.
Lager gripped his lasgun and pulled the trigger at the Hormagaunt, but the Tyranids was so fast that before he could pull the trigger, the Hormagaunt was already in front of him.
A biological blade swung down, and Lager almost saw death approaching him.
Finally, it was...
The sound of a blade cutting through the air rang out. A slender blade Lager had never seen before, wreathed in fire, flashed past, easily severing the Hormagaunt's biological blade and cutting through its body.
The sword lay across Lager's front, its blade elegantly curved, carved with peculiar runes, beautiful and sharp.
"This sword is called Cleddyf Draig."
The owner of the sword seemed to speak, and yet said nothing, but Lager vaguely heard a voice:
"In a dead language, its meaning is Dragon Sword."
Lager held his breath, watching the scene before him.
A skeletal figure in armor stood before him, fending off the Tyranids.
And all around him, many warrior-like figures, like the dead, appeared out of thin air.
Dreadnoughts with purple markings and the double-headed eagle insignia, berserkers in crimson Terminator power armor, warriors in unpainted power armor wielding massive power swords, shadows with raven helmets holding sniper rifles, Librarians with power axes and draped in scrolls.
They were all wreathed in fire, burning on the battlefield. Dark armor covered their pale skeletons, and flames erupted from the bodies of the dead, circling above their pure skulls.
The Human Emperor blew the horn of war, and the dead returned from the past to fight for humanity once more.
The Emperor's Cursed Legion descended upon the battlefield of Baal.
Angron's Blood Axe split open the power armor of a Blood Knight. The corpses in silver and red power armor piled up into mountains of bodies and seas of blood at Angron's feet.
Only seven or eight warriors still followed Yor, panting heavily as they faced Angron's wrath.
But Angron felt the will of the Blood God. On Baal, ripples were stirring in the Warp.
A powerful Warp entity was about to gain a physical body in the material universe, and Sanguinius would return in this process.
It was only a little bit away. He had to reach Baal Prime as quickly as possible to sow the Blood God's wrath before Sanguinius' resurrection.
No more time could be wasted on Baal II.
Angron fiercely flapped his wings, almost ready to fly into the void.
"No!" Yor roared, his Chainsword whistling as it struck at Angron, shouting, "Fight me, Angron!!"
Angron cast a look of amusement and mockery at Yor. In almost a blink of an eye, his whip lashed Yor fiercely, and the silver-red power armor exploded and broke apart.
"Look at the face under your helmet. You haven't been human for a long time. You were born to serve the Blood God."
Angron let out a sharp sneer, then began to flap his dark fleshy wings, saying,
"You and I should be together. Submit to me, Yor!"
Yor fell to the ground, the pain from his chest uncontrollable. Angron's whip was so sharp that even an Astartes' superhuman body bled profusely beneath it.
He remembered what Alexander had said when he handed him the sacred relic at his waist on Baal Prime.
"Me and Mephiston are going to deal with Ka'Bandha. If we fail, Ka'Bandha should be thrown into Baal Prime's orbit. You are responsible for holding him back."
Yor's fingers lightly touched the cloth-wrapped sacred relic at his waist. The relic felt faintly warm, and it was this relic that prevented Yor from succumbing to the wrath unleashed by Angron.
"It was supposed to be Ka'Bandha, but why is it Angron?" Yor cursed, struggling to stand up.
The cloth at his waist fell away, revealing a dull toy sword clutched tightly in Yor's hand.
"Angron." Yor looked up, staring intently at Angron's face: "In the name of wrath. In the name of the wrath Sanguinius gave me. You shall not leave!"
Yor raised the toy sword at Angron. Doing so might be meaningless, but Yor could only hope this sacred relic would give him strength now.
Screech—
To Yor and Angron's astonished gazes, Sanguinius' power flashed across the toy sword.
The short sword then ignited, and thunderous golden light erupted from it.
"Denkōmaru charging: 15%"
A strange prompt suddenly flashed in the four-dimensional pocket. Alexander glanced at it, paused for a brief moment, then realized it must be referring to the Denkōmaru he had given to Yor.
"I did it." Sanguinius nodded slightly to Alexander, saying.
In Alexander's vision, his figure was gradually becoming clearer, as if a ball of light was gaining a body in the material universe.
But Alexander didn't pay much attention. He still had an extremely dangerous opponent waiting for him.
The Chainsword named bloodson roared, whistling towards Alexander with unstoppable momentum, like the blood-filled maw of a predator swallowing air.
This great axe was once used by Angron, forged from adamantium, with blades made from the teeth of a mica dragon's lower jaw, and a hilt wrapped in the flayed skin of weaklings personally killed by Khârn. It could easily tear flesh without activating its power device.
A weapon once used by a Primarch was large for Khârn's build, but Khârn seemed completely unaffected by the weapon's mass, moving with a speed beyond mortal comprehension.
He was almost the fastest Astartes warrior Alexander had ever seen, much faster than Yor, and faster than Dante, let alone other Astartes warriors.
He was Khorne's mortal champion, blessed by the Blood God.
The iron chains wrapped around Khârn's arm rattled. To Khârn's surprise, Alexander lightly blocked his bloodson with a toy sword.
Khârn immediately launched his next attack. Balancing on one leg, he spun his body, striking heavily at Alexander's head with the axe's blunt side as a hammer.
Alexander's Denkōmaru sharply blocked Khârn's attack, but Khârn quickly realized that close combat was useless against Alexander.
A plasma pistol aimed at Alexander's head.
But Alexander's figure suddenly flashed, almost disappearing from his original spot in the blink of an eye.
Khârn, following his combat instincts, turned and pulled the trigger of the plasma pistol in his hand.
However, this plasma pistol, which had accompanied Khârn for many years, inexplicably jammed. He felt his weapon resisting.
Before Khârn could be surprised, the Superpower Hat on Alexander's head suddenly pointed at Khârn.
A powerful telekinetic force directly slammed into Khârn's chest, but Khârn withstood the telekinetic blow.
Then, Khârn used his wrath-filled will to override the machine spirit in the plasma pistol, and scorching plasma fire roared towards Alexander.
Bang!!! Bang!!! Bang!!!
Scorching plasma light exploded on Alexander's body. Although its power was significantly reduced compared to normal, the intensity of plasma flames, if it hit—
Alexander's figure instantly appeared in front of Khârn.
His skin and flesh were blasted open by the plasma, yet no blood flowed out, only clumps of charred clay flew around.
And beneath the clay, a layer of silver metal was exposed. This silver power armor was scorched with black marks by the plasma, but it wasn't truly damaged.
"Abominable Intelligence? Or something else?"
Khârn growled, his bloodson arcing through the air, striking at Alexander's head.
Alexander quickly stuffed the Denkōmaru into his four-dimensional pocket, then picked up the mechanizer.
Then he simply extended his finger towards Khârn.
