Chapter 129 - It's all Guilliman's fault!

"By Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings, brother of the race, do you mind if I share this table with you?"

"As a brother who also has the Blood of Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings flowing in him, you wouldn't refuse me, would you?"

Alexander looked at Mephiston in front of him, a smile playing on his lips, and asked in an extremely sincere tone.

His voice carried an irresistible sincerity, and Mephiston's body visibly hesitated for a moment.

Mephiston seemed to be worried that refusing Alexander might expose him too early.

genestealer almost always regarded each other as brothers of the race and rarely refused such a small request as sharing a table.

He nodded slightly and whispered, "..Fine."

This confirmed Alexander's guess.

If it was purely to deal with the genestealer, Mephiston was here to find the Lictor that had infiltrated Baal, and he didn't want to expose his identity too early.

According to Alexander's memory, a Lictor had secretly infiltrated Baal by attaching itself to the outer hull of a Lamenters' ship.

In the future, that Lictor would use pipelines buried in the desert, in conjunction with the Ravener and genestealer, to dig into Angel Keep.

It not only destroyed Angel Keep's Void Shield array but also ruined the Blood Angels' Blood Coffin Hall where new recruits were trained. Alexander would call that Lictor the Great Devourer's Chosen.

He collected his thoughts and sat down opposite Mephiston, saying in a genuinely moving tone:

"Praise Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings! You are indeed a brother who, like me, has the Blood of Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings flowing in him, so kind as to allow me, a poor, hungry brother of the race who has just lost his brother, to share your table."

Alexander's voice was chilling, the emotion in his tone so intense it gave one goosebumps.

It was as if Mephiston had done something worthy of Alexander's lifelong gratitude.

Mephiston was clearly taken aback; even he couldn't definitively say that the gratitude in Alexander's voice was false.

"Let us praise Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings together! Devoutly praise the Blood of Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings that flows within us!" Alexander said with sincere emotion.

Mephiston's expression twisted slightly. He lowered his voice and said, "Praise Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings..."

"..Praise the Blood of Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings that flows within us." He said the latter part almost through gritted teeth.

He said it! He really said it!

Alexander couldn't help but let a smile curl at his lips.

Watching Mephiston, with a somber expression, pray to Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings, he felt a perverse pleasure, like Slaanesh tempting a pure maiden to fall.

Sanguinius couldn't help but shake his head, as if complaining that Alexander was toying with his Sons.

However, Mephiston quickly adjusted his mindset.

As an infiltrator, he must have anticipated this moment.

Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings is a false faith, with no corresponding entity in the Warp, unlike the four Chaos Gods, the remaining Aeldari gods, Gork and Mork, and the newly emerging Saint Doraemon on Baal.

Praying to Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings would not have any adverse effects.

For the Blood Angels, the Emperor, and humanity, Mephiston could even use ancient, blasphemous dark arts.

Just a prayer to a false faith was entirely acceptable to him.

"One spiced wine with human blood, roasted servant, and a headless commoner."

"All ingredients must be under twenty years old, preferably Bloodborn from Baal itself."

Alexander, sitting opposite Mephiston, turned his head and said to the restaurant owner behind him.

The owner, covered in chitinous armor and with four arms simultaneously preparing food, couldn't help but burst into laughter:

"This brother of the race is truly a joker! We're not ghouls blasted senseless by radiation!"

"The Sons of Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings cannot commit such cannibalistic blasphemy!"

"I'll make you a salt-baked fire scorpion and a glass of bloodgrass root water."

Alexander gestured to the owner, indicating it was fine.

Mephiston, sitting opposite him, had already clenched his fists, and a flicker of anger passed through his eyes.

Alexander's mockery was too sharp and precise, hitting Mephiston's sore spot directly...

But Mephiston quickly calmed down.

It was indeed precise and sharp, too precise and sharp.

If the other party hadn't known Mephiston's identity, it would have been impossible to attack Mephiston so coincidentally...

The genestealer opposite him wasn't affected by the cognitive distortion he had released?

This made Mephiston momentarily stunned. He was confident enough in his psychic abilities that even the genestealer patriarch would have difficulty seeing through it without actively focusing.

Yet this man in front of him seemed to have deliberately come to find Mephiston... Mephiston couldn't figure out how he had been exposed.

He almost wanted to immediately use his psychic powers to probe the will of the man in front of him—

Danger!!!

A sense of danger, almost tearing Mephiston's soul apart, rose from his psychic premonition, instantly interrupting Mephiston's action.

A few beads of sweat trickled down Mephiston's forehead.

He recalled everything that had just happened and quickly determined that the man in front of him was definitely not a genestealer.

This man must be wearing a fake face! And the acting and playful mockery he had just displayed...

Holy cow, a spy!

Mephiston immediately suspected the Lord of Change.

This was because a Great daemon of the Lord of Change had recently tried to incite civil war among the Sons of Sanguinius, but it had fortunately been stopped by him and Rafen, a warrior of the Sixth Company.

But Mephiston quickly realized something was wrong...

If it were a Great daemon of the Lord of Change, it would at least hide itself more deeply.

His mockery just now, perhaps the surrounding genestealer wouldn't realize, but as a Blood Angel, Mephiston would definitely realize that this was mocking himself and his blood brothers.

Who drinks blood and who is a cannibal? Mephiston would know, wouldn't he?

Was the person opposite him reminding Mephiston of his own identity?

Mephiston suddenly understood, vaguely realizing who the person in front of him was.

As a Blood Angel Librarian, he already knew that Saint Doraemon and Alexander of Ashford were the same person.

And he also knew that Alexander possessed the unique ability to change his appearance, so he quickly realized the identity of the person in front of him.

This made Mephiston feel a chill. This candidate for three positions in the Warp was so coincidentally sitting in front of him...

Why was he here? What did he come for? Did he have any connection with the genestealer?

Mephiston's disguise had no effect. Mephiston's gaze towards Alexander couldn't help but show vigilance.

But according to Ashford's experience, there should be an antagonistic relationship between this person and the Tyranid.

Alexander watched Mephiston's expression change several times in a few seconds, from anger to calmness, from suspicion to vigilance, and finally, his gaze towards Alexander even held some awe.

This made Alexander speechless. Wasn't he just joking with him?

He often joked with Sanguinius like this, and look, he wasn't angry now, was he?

One should know that Sanguinius might even become his father.

Never mind, at least he realized Alexander's identity and, for now, knew that Alexander had no ill will towards him.

Alexander was really curious how Mephiston knew the Lictor's location.

According to the normal timeline, he shouldn't have known...

"brother of the race, from whence do you come, how do you come, and whither do you go?" Alexander carefully chose his words.

There were too many GSC around, so he couldn't ask directly. And what Alexander was more worried about was whether the Blood God's gaze was watching them.

Carelessly revealing too much information might allow the Blood God to discover his true purpose.

"Huh?" Mephiston blinked in confusion, but the confusion lasted only a moment before he understood the meaning of Alexander's words.

"I came from a desert that was once a grassland. A rider brought me here to see the living saint Sanguilius."

As expected, he came for the Lictor... Wait, grassland? Rider?

Alexander, catching the keywords, suddenly understood. It was Jaghatai Khan. Khan had told Mephiston about the Lictor's existence.

Khan! You haven't abandoned your old friend!

As for why Khan came...

Alexander guessed it was because of that time he brushed past Khan in the Webway when he opened the anywhere door.

Khan might have noticed Sanguinius beside Alexander at that time.

Alexander paused for a moment.

If that were the case, Khan might have also told Mephiston about this...

Which means Mephiston might know that Sanguinius could potentially be resurrected.

Alexander and Mephiston's gazes sharply intersected.

This was a topic that absolutely could not be discussed!

The Blood God always watched Baal. If Alexander or Mephiston directly spoke about this matter, it was likely that a Great daemon would smash into this genestealer stronghold the next moment.

However, if Sanguinius' resurrection couldn't be discussed, Robert Guilliman's resurrection seemed to be fair game?

Alexander considered his words, then grinned and said:

"I believe Robert Guilliman has betrayed humanity and sided with the Tyranid."

"Huh?" Mephiston was stunned by Alexander's inexplicable statement.

"First, Robert Guilliman is very good at mass production of troops, and the Tyranid are also very good at mass production of troops."

"Second, Guilliman is always on his way to reinforce Terra, and the main force of the Tyranid is always on its way."

"Then, as we all know, the reason the Tyranid came to the galaxy is likely because Robert Guilliman lit the Pharos Beacon. This is crucial."

"Finally, the decisive evidence is that just as the Tyranid were about to descend on Baal, Robert Guilliman just happened to be returning. Isn't that too much of a coincidence?"

"Because he knew that the soon-to-be resurrected Sanguinius of the Scythe Wings would be his greatest obstacle to harming humanity!"

"It was Guilliman who instructed the Tyranid to invade Baal to clear obstacles for him!"

"Huh???" Mephiston was full of question marks.
