Neville looked around in wonder, feeling as if the entire world had changed after his nap.
Everything before his eyes seemed more vibrant. He could even see the individual feathers on the birds flying freely outside the window.
What did Professor Jack do? Why is my eyesight so much better?
Is this the thing he was talking about? It doesn't seem like much besides better vision!
Hermione looked curiously at Neville's strange eyes. How did a nap cause his eyes to develop a problem?
They were odd, with that comma-shaped mark slowly rotating. Could this be the thing Professor Jack mentioned?
"Neville, your eyes?"
Neville froze. His eyes? What was wrong with them?
Jack took out a mirror and handed it to him.
Only then did Neville see the abnormality for himself: blood-red pupils with rotating tomoe.
He looked at Professor Jack in a panic. How could he go outside like this!
"Professor Jack, there's something wrong with my eyes! What do I do? Can they go back to normal? I can't even leave the room like this!"
Jack nearly choked on his own spit. He looked at Neville with exasperation.
The Sharingan, something most in the ninja world would kill for, had become a burden in this boy's mind.
"Relax, they'll return to normal shortly. They only look like this right after the procedure. If you want them to appear again in the future, you'll have to learn how to activate them yourself."
Neville breathed a sigh of relief. Good, they can change back.
He had no idea how Professor Jack had transformed his eyes like this. It was incredible.
Hermione stared intently at Neville's Sharingan, but she couldn't see what was so powerful about it.
Rather than guess, it was better to ask directly. She said to Neville, "Neville, do you feel any different?"
Neville shook his head, confused. "I just feel my eyesight is a bit better. Nothing else feels different. Could there have been a mistake?"
No sooner had the words left his mouth than Professor Jack delivered a sharp knock to Neville's head, making him yelp and clutch his skull.
"What did you think this was? An instant ticket to power? Dream on! If you expect rewards without effort, you will never become strong."
"While your eyes are still active, try them out!" Jack then looked at Hermione. "Cast the Doppelganger Charm. Let Neville try to distinguish the real one."
Both Hermione and Neville were stunned. Could he really tell?
They both knew the charm. If it wasn't a clone they'd made themselves, they couldn't even tell their own apart.
They were identical!
Despite his confusion, Neville closed his eyes. Hermione, meanwhile, began the incantation.
Two Hermiones now stood side-by-side, completely identical in appearance, expression, and clothing.
Neville opened his eyes and stared at the two Hermiones, utterly baffled.
How could anyone possibly tell? If you could, what would be the point of the Doppelganger Charm?
He scrutinized both girls but honestly couldn't see a difference. He looked to Professor Jack for help.
Jack ignored his pleading gaze and simply said, "Look closer!"
Left with no choice, Neville fixed his gaze intently on the two Hermiones. Slowly, the one on the left began to seem... different.
Hermione noticed the tomoe in Neville's eyes seemed to be spinning faster. She thought she was seeing things at first, but the rotation only accelerated. Just as she was growing puzzled—
"The Hermione on the left is the clone?"
Neville asked uncertainly. The one on the left looked somewhat illusory to him, as if composed of something else.
Hermione was shocked. He'd actually figured it out!
How was that possible? Even the professors couldn't distinguish a Doppelganger from the real caster!
"How could you tell?" she asked.
Neville shook his head. "I don't know. I just looked closely and saw they were different. The clone and the real one aren't the same."
Different? Hermione turned to look at her clone. They looked exactly the same!
It must be because of his eyes, she thought, glancing back at the spinning tomoe in Neville's eyes.
By now, the rotation speed of the tomoe in Neville's eyes had returned to normal, as if the previous acceleration had been an illusion.
Then, the red color in Neville's eyes began to fade, and the tomoe slowly vanished.
"Hey! Neville, your eyes are back to normal!"
Neville picked up the mirror and confirmed that the red hue and the tomoe in his pupils had disappeared, returning to their usual appearance.
"The Sharingan grants you powerful abilities like perception, replication, and hypnotism. This is only its initial form. It grows stronger from here."
"Its capabilities are for you to discover yourself. Do not tarnish the reputation of the Sharingan."
"Remember, not everyone who possesses the Sharingan is strong, but almost all the strong ones possess it."
"I hope you will become the latter."
So the eyes are called the Sharingan?
The mark of a true powerhouse!
I, Neville Longbottom, will make the Sharingan famous throughout the wizarding world!
Neville bowed deeply to Professor Jack. "Thank you, Professor Jack! I, Neville Longbottom, swear on the honor of the Longbottom family that I will not disappoint you!"
Jack nodded. Go for it, kid.
I hope your past sufferings become the fuel for your future progress.
"Go on now. Go and study your Sharingan."
