CHAPTER FIVE
Nyx's POV.
"Is this some stupid joke?" I ask, frowning tightly.
Evander pulls his phone from his pants, "You'll answer that question when the cops get here."
My veins thrum with rage, I clench my jaws, watching Evander pace back and forth, waiting for the call to connect.
He thinks he can get me arrested for nothing? Well, good luck to him.
I move towards him, pushing his device out of his hands. His face flares up with shock and then turns into anger.
"How dare you?!"
"The question here should be how dare you!" I snap.
Evander points an index finger in my face, and I brush it away.
"You'll pay for damaging my device, and for harassing my friend. Next time, you'll think twice before messing with Evander Cross," He growls.
But I'm not scared in the slightest.
If nothing, I actually love the audacity of this man. It's how he thinks everyone should bow to him for me.
"Yes, get her arrested. I can't believe she tried to forcefully have her way with me," Jeremy's voice comes from behind, his voice feigning disappointment.
My face splits with irritation, "You bigoted piece of shit! You think you can ask me to suck you off and then come play pretend?"
Jeremy shakes his head, crossing his arms as he joins Evander and I at the center of the room.
"You can try to switch the tables because there's a third party. But both of us know you were trying to get the position of a managing director so bad, that you decided to offer yourself."
Evander clicks his tongue, his hands balling into fists.
"Jeremy, pass your phone. I'll get the cops here to take care of her. That'll teach her to prioritize her morals."
I can't make sense of anything, it feels like the more these men open their mouths to speak, the more confusing it gets.
"Ugh! You two are airheads, it makes sense that you're best of friends. But I dare you to call the police," I cross my arms, straightening my stance.
"Way ahead of you," Jeremy fires back, handing his phone to Evander.
Anxiety twists my insides even though I'm standing on business.
These men have money.
They will tell the cops the exact same dirty story and I'll be the one at loss in the end.
Jeremy grins at me, and I flash him a furious look, rolling my eyes and that's when I catch a glimpse of a shiny object at the top edge of the room.
A camera.
"Now, that's what I call a comeback," the voice in my head cheers as I move towards Evander.
"Yeah, good afternoon, this is Evander Cr–"
I pull his arm, stopping him from talking.
His brows furrow with irritation but he smiles as he returns to speaking into the phone.
"Yeah, can I call you back? Great." He says, dropping the phone from his ears.
He yanks his hand free from my grip, dusting his suit like he's getting dirt off it. See, it's this thing he does that makes me want to wrap my hands around him and choke him with my scent.
"If you dare to touch me one more–"
"Shut up and listen to me." Evander exchanges glances with Jeremy but neither of them utter a word.
My hands stretch to where the camera is placed, "If you're going to arrest me, you'll first have to see the footage of what happened before you came in."
Jeremy steps forward, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
I smirk, "It's now nonsense because I'm trying to prove my innocence? How's it my fault that your perverted ass didn't think to get rid of the camera before asking me to suck you off?" I shake my head, almost laughing at the dumb loophole he created for himself.
Evander narrows his gaze, "I trust Jeremy. And I don't need to see whatever's on that footage."
I lean a hip on the table, feeling relaxed,"Tell that to the cops and see who they arrest."
Jeremy turns to Evander, his face flushing with fear, "Man, I can't with this lady. Let's just have the security throw her out."
Evander hums, staring surreptitiously at Jeremy, "You were ready to get her arrested a few minutes ago. What changed?"
Jeremy swallows, resting a hand on Evander's shoulder, "She's really not worth the stress. If I hear her bicker one more time, I'd lose it."
Evander nods subtly, like he's agreeing and oh, how that makes me want to pull his head off!
They both turn to me, hands fixed in their pants.
"We'll pretend this never happened. Leave this place right now," Evander orders, and that has me snorting.
He really thinks he can order me? Crazy.
I lift my weight off the table, tucking my hair behind my ear, "Nice resolution. But I'm not leaving here until the footage is played for us to see."
If Jeremy thinks he's succeeded, then he's sadly mistaken.
Jeremy moves towards me, standing at only three inches from me, his chest heaving, "What part of get the fuck out don't you understand?"
"And what part of play the fucking video don't you get?" I howl.
Evander drives a hand over his temple, casting me a haughty look.
"Jeremy, trust me, you're going to be here all day if you don't listen to her. Just play the video," He states.
He learns fast, I like that.
"Come with me." Jeremy says to Evander and they both head for the door, leaving me to tag along behind them.
Jeremy leads us to a sleek, dark tech room with different sizes of monitor screens on display.
He hunches over, his hands flying over the keyboard and then the video from his office starts playing.
Jeremy fast-forwards the video, trying to manipulate what we are seeing and hearing but the sentence, "All you have to do is suck me off" was heard loud and clear.
Evander stares at the screen confused, and Jeremy immediately turns it off before it embarrasses him any further.
"That right there, is the piece of shit you call a friend! I hissed.
Evander doesn't utter a word to Jeremy, his face is flushed with disappointment.
He presses his palm over his lips, closing his eyes as if trying to muster the words.
Then his eyes darts to me, "On behalf of Jeremy, I apologize for–"
"Zip it! I don't want to hear it." I shun him as we head out of the room.
His brows arch but he doesn't speak, Jeremy on the other hand, stayed behind in the room.
"Don't act so cocky now, I'm literally apologizing for his mistake," Evander mutters.
I snicker as an idea pops in my mind, "I didn't ask you to. Besides, I want something else."
Evander frowns, "I'm not kissing you again."
I roll my eyes, pushing him slightly, "Nice offer, but I want something bigger."
Evander swallows, taking a deep breath, "What is it?"
My cheeks rise into a smile as I move closer to him, biting my lips.
