The sky over New York had turned that weird, bruised purple, the kind that made the city feel like it was holding its breath. Kendella stared out the window of the Delacroix estate, one hand pressed against the glass, the other fiddling with the strap of her coat. She was thinking about Jae-Hyun, of course. Because how could she not? He was now officially living in the east wing of her house. Her mother had practically handed him the keys, but Kendella was pretending like it annoyed her.
"Why is he so⌠him?" she muttered under her breath. She didn't mean it in a good way, or maybe she did, but she wasn't going to admit it.
