Chapter 1 - Chapter One — Adam’s Cake

Chapter One — Adam's Cake

In the year 2013, amid a world unraveling at its seams, a boy named Adam Carmine was born.

He came into an age of fear—an era where humanity had drowned beneath the shadows of the Seven Sorcerers, those who once dreamed of building a new world upon the ruins of the old.

Out of the chaos, the Arab nations united, forging one army to defend their people from the catastrophes—and another, to hunt down the "Cursed Mutations" spreading across the earth.

Years slipped by.

By 2030, Adam had turned seventeen.

At school, he met a girl named Ella—a figure so pale and luminous, she seemed to have stepped out of a world untouched by darkness.

After class, they would walk together under the silent sky of the city, laughing softly, their joy defying the fear that lingered in the streets.

With each passing day, something fragile yet powerful bloomed between them.

A year later, they went to different universities.

Adam chose to study astrophysics, drawn by a hunger to understand the stars—the mysteries of black holes, the unseen rhythm of the cosmos.

Though distance separated them, their bond did not fade.

Every night, Ella would write him a single message:

"I'll see you in the next light."

Three years later, at the age of twenty, they graduated together.

That was when Adam finally found the courage to speak the words he had buried deep inside.

He stood before her, his hands trembling slightly, a nervous smile tugging at his lips.

— Ella, he said, will you let me share this universe with you?

She looked down, her cheeks flushed, and whispered:

— As long as we're under the same sky… yes.

In 2034, they married. Soon after, they were blessed with twins—Lina and Shinji.

Life settled into something warm and familiar: the laughter of children, the hum of quiet evenings, the scent of tea and rain.

That same year, Adam began his first job as a high school physics teacher.

On his first morning, he entered the classroom with a confident smile.

— Good morning, he said. I'm your new teacher, Adam. I'm twenty-one years old—and today, we begin our journey through physics.

The students rose to greet him, then sat, watching him curiously.

— Before we start, Adam asked, can anyone tell me what physics is?

One student raised a hand.

— It's the science of mass and volume, he said.

Another added, It's the study of matter and its forms.

Adam laughed softly.

— You're both right… but physics is far more than that. It's the language of the unknown—the equations that govern everything, from black holes… to white ones.

A student chuckled mockingly.

— White holes? Never heard of such nonsense!

Adam paused, smiling faintly.

— In physics, there's no such thing as nonsense—only what hasn't been discovered yet.

The room fell silent.

The laughter faded.

Wonder filled the students' eyes.

That evening, Adam returned home and lay with his head resting on Ella's lap, telling her—like an excited child—about his first day at work.

He didn't know that the light of that evening would be the last peaceful glow he would ever see
