Chapter 3 - Chapter 3—Choosing the Race and Trait.

Chapter 3—Choosing the Race and Trait.

Ganesh glanced at the nothingness with a scowl. His brows arched high, "Even a dying oldman would speak faster. Couldn't he say it before? He perished before we earthlings could even understand what we are facing."

'Agh! Whatever, let's move on and be careful in the new life.' He decided firmly.

Gzz!

He jumped up in shock all of a sudden as— [ Ding! Choose your starting race and one trait! ]

[ Caution! The higher the race, the lower the level trait available, and vice versa! ]

A red shimmering panel popped up in front of him.

He grinned in excitement as he couldn't wait to reincarnate.

'I just hope they are making the right decisions,' he mused while rubbing his chin as he remembered his family and friends.

"Go ahead, show me the race types and the traits," He patiently waited for the new panel to pop up.

Time passed slowly until three minutes later….

"Hey! Is anyone here? System? Panel?" He yelled. He didn't know why the new menu about traits and races wasn't popping up.

Silence!

He glanced around for almost five minutes, but met only with ear-buzzing irritation!

'There seems to be no sign of intelligent life anywhere,' he then probed the panel, expecting to find the easy solution.

He fiddled with the panel, expecting it to have a help option, swiping it up, down, left, right, but nothing worked, so he tapped on the 'Race' word.

[ Ding! Opening the options of starting races! ]

'So, I just have to click on the word, Pff,' he wiped his non-existent sweat, he felt he would be stuck in nothingness for eternity for a moment.

[ —Dragon—

The most powerful and ancient race. The race with the most potential; they can become the strongest, even while being lazy bums— just sleeping and eating.

—Elf—

The nature-loving race, born directly from the world tree. They are blessed with the world tree, inheriting the massive affinity to nature magic. They possess vast mana reserves

—Human—

The most balanced race, they neither excel in anything nor are powerless in anything. They possess the most paths of all races to grow.

—Goblin—

A race with the most creativity towards machinery, but they lack the will to overcome laziness and their lust. They can become powerful enough to rival dragons if they overcome their lust and laziness.

…..

…..]

"The list goes on; just how many races exist?" He checked a few race descriptions and tried to come down to the bottom, but it went on and on seemingly with no end.

'Let's check with the dragon first,' he thought, and tapped on it.

[ Ding! You selected Dragon as your starting race. ]

[ Opening the appropriate traits. ]

[ Ding!

—Residual Memory {Common}—

A single skill will be randomly carried to the next loop that isn't a racial skill nor a class skill.

—Residual Temporal Might {Common}—

+0.1% increase in base strength at the start of each new loop compared to the previous loop, and the cycle continues.

…..

…. ]

"Tch, only 0.1% increase—if base strength is 1 in the first loop, in the second loop base strength is 1.1; third loop is 1.1011, so-on or a random skill which is not related to race or class, meaning if I learned dragon breath in one loop, it won't carry to the new loop," he muttered annoyingly.

He'd known that the dragon wouldn't get a good trait due to the panel's warning, but he had a little expectation that he might hit a jackpot and get a good trait. So that he might have a dragon life, but he wasn't lucky.

'I need to think carefully, dragon is indeed powerful, but this is a loop; starting with a powerful race might seem good, but the end is what matters. I need a powerful trait to grow with each loop. So…..I will go with the lesser race and a powerful trait,' he mused carefully.

He placed himself in multiple situations to check whether his decision would be correct.

He, after spending a few minutes on thoughts, clicked the ← option on traits, getting back to the races list.

[ Races….

—Dragon—

…]

He glanced around the menu, as he couldn't check every race; there were millions of them.

He found the ☰ at the top. Upon clicking it, a list opened.

[ —Apex Races—

—Core Races—

—Lesser Races— ]

He tapped on the Lesser races, as a new panel popped up.

[ Ding! Opening lesser races

—Goblin—…

—Kobold—

A cowardly race that won't hesitate to abandon their friends in the threat of battle. They have been accustomed to being slaves instead of fighting back.

—Red Ant—

An Arthropoda family member, which has discipline, loyalty. They won't hesitate to die in battle for their queen. They mostly die in battle or after mating with the queen.

—Fire Ant—

—Undead Skeleton—

….]

'No, everything seems bad, I don't want to be an ant that serves the queen and dies right away after that, nor an ugly green goblin who cannot control its lust.' He mused with irritation, wondering whether he should go with the dragon even if he would get a weak trait.

At least he could sleep on gold coins as a dragon and throw flames from his mouth.

'Wait, how can I forget about that race..' His eyes shone as he remembered the recent trend of the new lowly race, which was shown to become powerful as dragons and even surpass them.

He typed slime in the 🔍 after tapping it.

[ Ding!

Found Slime!

—Slime—

A race with the viscous body; they are one of the weakest races, even weaker than Kobolds. They are eaten as food by the majority of races. They are lazy bums who spend days in the sunlight. They are the only race that eats the trash and cleans the world! ]

"Tch! Trash cleaner, huh!" he clicked his tongue, but he felt it was way better than other races like goblins, ants, and kobolds.

[ Ding! Opening the matching traits! ]

[ —Eternal memory {Mythic}—

Carry 25% of masteries, non-class skills, and non-racial skills to the next loop, while locking the same tier of masteries. ]

'Whoa! A mythic level,' he grinned as he felt he'd taken a correct decision.

He then checked on more traits.

[ —Superior Adaptive Evolution {Mythic}—

Gain 25% resistance to what killed you in the current loop to the next loop, and +1% if killed by the same thing repeatedly in the next loop, and +1 continues.

—Superior Temporal Strength {Mythic}—

+25% increase in base strength at the start of the new loop compared to the previous loop, and the cycle continues.

—Superior Temporal Mana {Mythic}—

+25% increase in base wisdom at the start of the new loop compared to the previous loop, and the cycle continues….. ]

He scrolled through the list for almost an hour to check whether he would find another good trait.

'All are at the Mythical level, which one should I choose?' He mused, itching to carry them all, but he knew that he could only have one trait.

After some time, 'I will go with Eternalmemory,' he took a deep breath as he clicked on it.

[ Ding! You have chosen —Slime— as your race and —Eternal Memory {Mythic}— as your trait! ]

[ Proceed with it?

—Y— Or— N—]

'Not bad, it would allow some people to go back if they clicked in a hurry,' he grinned, feeling that his sis might make that mistake.

'Yes, let's start the life of the trash cleaner,' he clicked —Y— as a new shimmering panel popped up in front of him.

[ Ding! Confirming the timeline!

—Timeline 78521452224.1 is beginning! ]

[ Reincarnating the earthling! ]

He felt a blinding light in his eyes, then he felt a firm ground beneath him.

The first cycle had begun!
