Chapter 6 - Birth of a psycho

Darius glanced at the cup for a moment then he drank all its content. He had expected the tea to be a little bit bitter but it was sweet.

He could feel the old man gaze on him but he couldn't see the old man's gaze to talk of his eyes.

"i did not expect you to drink it but as I said, it's not poisoned," the old man said with a chuckle.

Darius stared at the old man warily, "I brought the money,"

He immediately brought out a pouch containing the amount that they agreed on.

"You can keep it, I don't want that anymore," the old man said with a grunt. Darius frowned, why was the man in front of him being difficult.

They had both agreed on a hundred silver coins so why was he changing his mind now.

"Do you want more money because we obviously agreed on one hundred silver coins," Darius said in frustration.

The man opposite him did not reply instead he brought out a mini red notebook and a pair of glasses.

"i don't want money anymore,"

"So what do you want," Darius asked with an eyebrow raised.

"i want your empathy'' the old man replied.

"i don't get you, you want me to shpw you empathy?" Darius asked as she raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"No I want you to trade your emotion to me, your ability to feel empathy in exchange for just this book…the glasses is a little something I thought I could give you too," the old man explained with a chuckle.

Goosebumps appeared all Darius body, something about the way the sentence the man uttered felt eerie. His heart told him to run away while his guts told him to stay.

Darius smiled, he immediately brushed off the sense of fear that he felt.

He immediately deduced this old man was a scammer, after all, he doubted the old man would be unable to take his ability to feel empathy.

"Okay," Darius replied after thinking for a long time.

"Move closer to me," the old man said, Darius immediately moved closer as the old man.

The Man put his pinky finger on Darius head, the moment the man put his finger on Darius's head, Darius felt like something got drawn out of him.

The old man then gave Darius the book and the glasses then he stood up.

Darius stared into an empty space, he neither noticed when the old man gave him the book nor when old man stood up. He felt like something within him was missing.

He should be worried but why was he not worried in the slightest.

"You would be a nice replacement for him," the old man said with a chuckle. Darius stood up.

"What do you mean by that," Darius asked as he calmly put the book and glasses into his coat.

The old man didn't reply rather he laughed, before Darius could open his mouth, the old man disappeared right in front of him.

Darius scoffed in disbelief, he had a lot to ask the old man. For some reason he felt empty and cold. He wanted to ask, had the man really took away his ability to feel empathy?

Before Darius could think further, someone collided with him making him tumble on the floor.

Darius spat out a little blood on the ground, he had an injury in his mouth due to the collision.

In anger, Darius stood up, he was unaware of the fact that the bunny mask he had tied to his face had dropped on the floor. The person in questioned who had bumped into him also stood up.

"Watch where you little-

"Darius?" the voice called in a tone filled with shock and surprise.

Darius frowned at the person who stood opposite of him, the person wore a black ugly mask. Judging by the person's voice, the guy was a male.

"it's me, Dain," the person said removing the mask. True to his words, it was the red head who he met at the clinic.

Darius glared at Dain, the only reason why he wasn't punching him the hell out of him was, one; he was a null, two; Dain took him to the clinic, three; it would be uncivilized to do so.

As if sensing that darius was angry, dain apologised.

"I'm so sorry about that, I was chased by a few men, you wouldn't believe that they wonted to kill me,"

To be honest, Darius didn't give a damn about Dain's situation but he owed Dain a favor so it bad if he held a grudge over a little accident.

Darius was still mad but he forced a smile to his lips, it wouldn't bring any benefit if he continued to frown his face all day. Sighing, he took the bunny mask from the floor and wore it.

"It's okay, next time just be careful," Darius replied with an emotionless voice.

Dain nodded. Dain stared at Darius for a moment, he had no idea what to say. He wanted to ask what Darius was doing here but he decided against it.

"did you receive any letter from the school," Dain asked.

Darius who was intending to leave paused, he stared at Dain in thought. He knew nothing about Lunatris, wouldn't it be better if he stuck with someone who knew a thing or two.

"Yes, what about you?"

"I got the letter too," Dain replied with a grunt.

"Do you know anything about the second entrance exam," Darius asked.

Dain stared at Darius for a moment, "Follow me, I'll tell you on the way,"

"Where are you going?" Darius asked as he followed Dain. Darius wanted nothing more than to go back home and inspect the book that old man had given to him but he had no choice but to follow Dain since he knew nothing about the second entrance exam.
