After the chaotic situation, the whole family slowly gathered inside the house, sitting in the hall. The doctor arrived soon after and began treating Rumi, Melody, and Ethan. He checked their injuries carefully, applied medicine, and wrapped bandages around the wounds.
"There's no major issue," the doctor finally said in a calm voice. "They've been through shock and minor injuries. I'll give tablets for a few days. With proper rest, they'll all recover."
Perun stood quietly nearby, waiting until the doctor finished. Once the doctor stepped outside, Perun followed him out.
Inside the hall, Rumi's parents couldn't hold back anymore.
"What exactly happened?" her father asked, his voice heavy with worry.
Melody took a deep breath and said, "When the masked men took us, they locked all of us inside an old mansion. They were beating Mom and Ethan. I couldn't stay quiet, so I shouted from the closed room… and then they did the same to me."
Her voice trembled. "They were about to cut my finger… but Perun came at the right time. He saved all of us."
Ethan quickly added, his eyes shining, "He was like a superhero!"
Rumi looked at Perun with a mix of surprise and curiosity. "At that place… they were talking about a bodyguard," she said slowly. "But aren't you a driver?"
Perun avoided eye contact. He hesitated, not knowing what to say.
Melody immediately stepped in. "I told you he was a driver because I didn't want you all to panic. If I had said the truth, everyone would've thought we were in danger."
Before the conversation could go any further, Rumi's mother interrupted gently, folding the topic halfway. "Enough talking. You all must be hungry. I've made food."
They all sat at the dining table, sitting across from one another, quietly staring, the tension still hanging in the air.
Rumi's father broke the silence. "Let's eat fast. Food tastes best when it's hot."
Perun started eating, but his mind was restless. This news will definitely reach the mayor, he thought.
On the other side of the city, Vaelor sat at Eagle Eye, again eating roasted bread with two eggs—burned, just like last time. It tasted terrible.
He was in a pitiful mood, but one thought kept pushing him forward. I need to tell Truman about Edin's house.
Later, Vaelor met Truman outside Augustin's office.
"We missed something," Vaelor said seriously.
"What is it?" Truman asked.
"When the boss told us to retreat tomorrow, I had a bad feeling," Vaelor continued. "So I went back and met Sister Allena again. I asked for Edin's address."
Truman listened carefully.
"It's on Maridona Street," Vaelor said. "And Nancy lives on the same street."
Truman frowned. "It could be a coincidence. Edin died of lung cancer. That's why the police didn't investigate his house much."
"There's more," Vaelor said firmly. "They both died on the same day. How can all of this be a coincidence?"
After a pause, Truman nodded. "So… we visit the place."
"Yes," Vaelor replied.
That night, they reached Maridona Street—Building J, third floor. The door was locked.
"Keep an eye on the stairs," Truman said. "If someone comes, give me a signal."
Truman pulled out a small green pouch from his pocket. From it, he took out a thin metal stick. He leaned close to the doorknob and carefully rotated it inside the lock.
After a few tries—click.
The door opened.
They entered quietly.
Vaelor rushed toward the bedroom.
"Hey," Truman whispered. "Don't you think we should check the hall first?"
Vaelor returned, pretending to search the hall casually.
Then they moved to the bedroom.
Vaelor knowingly act shocked to see on the wall.
On the wall was a poster of a girl. In the corner, written in messy handwriting, were the words:
"I love you, Nancy."
Truman stared at it in shock.
Vaelor walked to the fridge and opened it. Inside were two human fingers. Though he already knew it, he pretended to be horrified.
Truman took out white gloves, wore them, and carefully placed the fingers into a transparent evidence pouch. Vaelor took down the poster.
They went straight to Augustin's office and reported everything.
Augustin listened carefully and then nodded. "Good work. Both of you."
Truman added, "It was all because of Vaelor."
Augustin looked at Vaelor with appreciation and praised him.
But inside Vaelor's mind, something dark remained unresolved.
There's still something we haven't discovered, he thought.
They're both serial killers… and both of them are connected to Nancy.
The next morning, the news spread across the city.
On television, Mr. Elane appeared on the screen, standing before multiple microphones.
"According to our latest update," he announced, "the serial killer case has finally been solved. Carter Han was murdered by his own friend, Edin, who was also involved in the serial killings. Later that same night, Edin was admitted to the hospital, where he died due to lung cancer. This case was successfully solved by the Eagle Eye Special Investigation Unit."
In a dimly lit room, a tall man with a massive physique sat silently, staring at the television mounted on the wall. He wore a green uniform and a police cap pulled low over his eyes. His name was Reinard Ron.
His jaw tightened as the news ended. He tapped his fingers hard against his knees, frustration clear on his face.
"This time… you win, Augustin," he muttered. "But you won't forever."
Soon after, another major headline flashed across the screens.
"MAYOR'S FAMILY KIDNAPPED — NOW SAFE"
The news spread rapidly throughout all of Norus. People whispered, speculated.
This news also reached Michael Cooper.Fury burned in his eyes.
Without wasting time, he got into his white-and-black luxury car. Two bodyguards followed and took their seats. The car sped through the streets, stopping in front of Rumi's house.
Michael entered the house with anger written all over his face.
"Why are you came here?" he snapped at Rumi. "Because of you staying here, our kids were put in danger!"
Before Rumi could respond, Melody stepped forward, standing beside her mother.
"This is not her fault," Melody said firmly. "And we're safe now. That's what matters."
Michael clenched his fists, trying to control himself.
"You should go home," he said coldly.
Rumi shook her head. "No. Not today. Not after what happened. You always deal with problems after they explode and the kids suffer. This time, you deal with your problems first."
Michael fell silent. He truly understood the situation.
He sighed deeply and turned toward Perun. "Take care of all of them for now. I'll come back after a week. After that, everyone will come with me including Rumi you, and your parents."
Just then, Michael's phone rang.
He answered it, stepped outside, and left the house shortly after, his car disappearing down the road.
Later that evening, in a quiet restaurant, several people sat around a large table.
Vaelor, Truman.
A man with green hair and sharp green eyes, wearing a yellowish coat.
Another man with slightly dark skin, dressed in white suit.
And at the head of the table—Augustin. They were all members of Eagle Eye.
Augustin leaned back in his chair, relaxed for once. "Today's my treat," he said. "Order whatever you want."
Vaelor didn't hesitate. "Noodles," he said immediately. "I've been hungry since morning."
