"He never opened up to me about being in any real trouble" ma Jane said.
I was ready to confront the shadows of my past and uncover the secrets that lingered and ensure that my fathers legacy is honored. I and ma jane delved deeper into the memories and suspicions surrounding his death.
"are you sure you want to go down this part child?"
"I need to know Ma Jane, especially if there's even a hint that something more sinister happened. Tell me more about vivians involvement" I stood up and slowly paced around
"Vivian has always had her own interest at heart. She's never been the one to put family first, has she?"
At this point, I felt a knot forming in my stomach "no, she hasn't,. and I can't help but wonder if she played a hand in this. There were moments after my fathers death that she seemed almost relieved. Like she was ready to step into a new life without him"
Ma jane leaned in closer "I noticed that too. It's as if she was waiting for the right moment to take control as she stood a chance to benefit from your fathers absence"
"with my father gone, she gained access to his assets, connections and lifestyle that came with being married to him. Do you think she might have anything to do with his disappearance?" I said thoughtfully
"I cant say for sure, my child. But its worth examining "
Her response sent chills down my spine. "I always felt that she never truly cared for him. It was as if their marriage was more about status than anything"
"if she saw your father as an obstacle to her ambitions, it wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility for her to take extreme measures to remove that obstacle"
At this point, I felt anger bubbling inside me "I need to find out more about her actions during that time. I cant let her get away with this if there's even a chance that she played a part in my fathers death."
My father was a man of principles. Growing up, I admired his commitement and beliefs. He had a way of making everyone around him feel valued. As I reflected on his life, I couldn't stop thinking about the mystery surrounding his disappearance and the questions that lingered were a constant reminder of my unresolved pain. I had always believed his death was an accident, but now I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to the story.
"my father deserves justice and I need to uncover the truth about what happened" I thought to myself as I walked back into the mansion.
I could also remember Vivian leaving the house in a hurry after my father left. At his funeral, they refused anyone from seeing his body in a casket
"I think there is a chance my father is still alive" I said to Ethan before I could even process the weight of my words.
I took a deep breath, trying to articulate the whirlwind of emotions and theories that had been swirling in my mind.
"i've been thinking about everything, Ethan_ the circumstances of his disappearance. What if it wasn't just an accident? What if he faked his own death? What if he was kidnapped?" I said while pacing around the room restlessly
"love.. are you sure?thats a big assumption"
"I don't know Ethan," I admitted "but I cant shake off the fact that there's more to the story. What if someone wanted to silence him and he had to go into hiding? It would explain why we never found any trace of him"
"hey, hey, hey" Ethan said as he reached out to me and pulled me to his embrace "we cant say for sure since there's no solid evidence. But if you believe this is worthg pursuing, then we'll pursue it together. You don't have to do this alone"
