"I am Grover Caine, the planetary governor of this planet," he said in a deep voice, still with some of the arrogance of an Imperial noble, but much more restrained.
"I am planetary general Albert von Klaus," the general beside him quickly followed, his gaze still warily sweeping over the surrounding Servo-Automatons.
"Justice Department Executive Officer Marcus Drake," the head of the Adeptus Arbites coldly stated his name, hostility in his eyes.
"Ecclesiarch Bishop Cyrus Vane," the head of the Ecclesiarchy whispered, his fingers unconsciously caressing the Imperial Aquila on his chest, as if seeking protection.
The others also reported their identities one by one. Noah nodded with satisfaction after listening.
"Very good, at least you all still understand basic etiquette. Since that is the case, I believe we have a basis for conversation."
He smiled slightly, and with a gentle flick of his finger, the force field restraining them instantly dissipated.
The planetary governor shot up, but was immediately silently blocked by two Servo-Automatons. He gritted his teeth, ultimately not making any rash moves.
"What exactly do you want?" he demanded, staring at Noah.
"You ask me what I want to do? It's simple. I need your information. I need to know which star sector I am in now. I need to know my position in the universe."
Noah stated his demands bluntly, but as soon as he finished, the people opposite him were stunned.
The planetary governor spoke, utterly shocked: "You mean, to know where you are in the universe right now, you had us all tied up and brought before you to ask such a nonsensical question? What kind of joke is this?"
"Don't you have a star chart? Don't you rely on the Emperor's Astronomican when you travel through the Warp?!"
A barrage of questions poured out of the planetary governor's mouth, but then he seemed to realize something and quickly shut himself up again.
A fellow who doesn't know where he is, yet possesses such powerful psionics.
If they had met him in the wilderness, they would have certainly assumed he was some wild Psykers.
But this wild Psykers also possessed powerful scientific research capabilities, which they could see; the surrounding building was clearly high-tech.
So, the possibility of him being an aboriginal could be completely ruled out.
Moreover, such a neat and minimalist decor could not have been created by people within the Imperium.
After all, there wasn't even an imperial eagle banner (or aquila banner) here, let alone a holy icon of the Emperor.
The planetary governor thought to himself, then once again looked around. He saw a single-headed aquila emblem.
heretic! heretic! This must be a heretic!
A single-headed aquila, who exactly does he worship?
The planetary governor's face instantly turned pale. He trembled as he pointed at the single-headed aquila emblem on the wall: "You… you dare to desecrate the holy double-headed aquila! This is an act of betrayal against the Emperor!"
Noah followed his gaze and shook his head gently: "The emblem of the Terran Federation has been a single-headed eagle since the dawn of human civilization. This is not about faith; it is merely history."
Speaking of the imperial eagle banner, Noah became interested. He asked.
"Also, I am quite curious about this: you all seem to be worshipping a god? Is this god very great? And what about this double-headed imperial eagle banner? Does it have any unique meaning?"
To be honest, Noah had already discovered this issue the moment he came into contact with this civilization.
An interstellar civilization, unprecedentedly superstitious. They worshipped a god called the Emperor.
Such a situation was something Noah had never encountered before.
After all, there had never been anything like this in the Terran Federation; no god had ever received the worship of so many people.
It was precisely because so many fellow humans were worshipping the same god that Noah was now particularly interested in the Emperor.
"You dare to question the greatness of the Emperor?!" Ecclesiarch Bishop Cyrus Vane suddenly erupted in fury, the wrinkles on his face twisting with emotion. "That is the Lord of Humanity! The Eternal Guardian of Holy Terra! It is—"
"Enough, Bishop," planetary governor Grover raised a hand to stop him, then turned his scrutinizing gaze towards Noah. "Your Excellency… truly does not know the Emperor?"
Noah spread his hands: "This is the god of your civilization, so naturally, I am not clear. Although you and I are both human, you need to know that the human genes in your body are too few, even less than a banana."
"If I couldn't confirm that your soul is a human soul, then you would already be dead by my gun. If you were not human, you would have no right to converse with me here."
Noah spoke these words very calmly, but the people opposite him felt an unprecedented killing intent, and besides the killing intent, there was also an extremely high level of arrogance.
That was the arrogance of the human race, looking down on everything.
Planetary governor Grover's face instantly turned ashen. He subconsciously touched his face, as if to confirm that he was still human.
Justice Department Executive Officer Marcus, on the other hand, exploded in rage: "Presumptuous! You dare to question the purity of the God-Emperor's subjects!"
Noah laughed, as if he had heard an incredibly funny joke; people really can be driven to laugh when they are speechless.
However, since the other party was a fellow human, to verify his authenticity, Noah raised his hand and brought up a set of holographic data.
"Look closely, your gene sequence is mixed with at least 947 types of alien markers." In the projection, distorted DNA sequences formed a stark contrast with pure human genes.
"To be honest, I haven't not seen such a mixed gene sequence as yours, but it is still a very rare situation. And for such a messy gene sequence as yours to still maintain a humanoid form, I can only say it's truly not easy."
"If possible, after we finish our conversation, would you allow me to collect some of your genes for research?
I am indeed very interested in your genes. How did you manage to be so messed up and still be called human?"
Noah had no ill intentions; he genuinely wanted to study what was going on with this gene sequence.
After all, he used to study genetics, so seeing such an odd phenomenon naturally made him interested in researching it thoroughly.
However, Noah did not expect that his words would undoubtedly cause immense psychological damage to the people opposite him, or rather, deal them a heavy psychological blow.
The Ecclesiarch Bishop suddenly knelt to the ground, trembling as he performed the aquila salute: "This… this must be the seduction of Chaos…"
Not only him, but all the other high-ranking officials of the Imperium of Man, including the planetary governor, also knelt down, began performing the aquila salute, and shouted loudly.
"God-Emperor above, God-Emperor protect us."
Noah's words truly struck a chord with them.
And Noah had directly presented the facts before them; the impact of this matter on them was undeniably significant.
However, unlike their fervent prayers, Noah looked at these fellows with a bewildered expression.
Absurd. Didn't he just talk about the diversity of their genes? Was it necessary to immediately fall to their knees and pray to their god now?
If genes were messed up, one could just use gene-adjusting equipment to treat it and reset them. What was the big deal?
And their genes were indeed very valuable for research!
Anyway, Noah had never seen a situation where the gene sequence and humans had diverged so much, with so many alien genes mixed in, yet these fellows could still maintain a human form.
In Noah's eyes, these people were all excellent research materials.
Oh, no, that's not the right way to describe fellow humans. They should be called excellent volunteers.
The situation became awkward. Noah was on one hand thinking about how he should obtain their genes for research, and on the other hand, waiting for them to finish their prayers.
After all, they were fellow humans, so a certain amount of respect was due. Noah respected their customs.
