Chapter 1 - When Life Ends the Clock Begins

My eyes snapped open, and thousands of thoughts clouded my head, but the main one was, where am I? I squinted my eyes and faintly saw the glitter of the moon in a mirror near the corner of the room.

I threw my legs out from under the covers, and my legs looked longer. I raised my hand up to my face, and they were longer, but I was so much thinner. Had I reincarnated into an already alive body?

When had I died? How had I died?

It didn't matter anymore; how and why did my spell fail?

There were so many failsafes to guarantee it should have worked...

I shook my head. I needed to focus. This is still a great opportunity for me.

The bed creaked under me as I pushed off of it.

Thud.

My legs gave out, and I hit the ground.

I heard the cracking of a lamp somewhere nearby, then light poured in from the door.

"Hisshi! You... you're awake," the person's voice cracked with emotion.

"Who are you? Who am I?" Unfortunately, I didn't inherit this brat's memories, but I didn't inherit the language.

The person rushed over and lifted me up. I could see she didn't wear the greatest of clothes.

This family was likely poor.

"Thank the gods," warm drops began hitting my face.

I stayed quiet; I needed to know more before I spoke.

She eventually stopped crying and helped me onto the bed.

"How do you feel, Hisshi?" she was still sniveling.

"Who's Hisshi?" The easiest way to get information was to act like I didn't remember anything.

The woman stood up. "That's you. I'll explain anything you want tomorrow."my tactic was to act like i dont remember anything.
