Chapter 1 - The Lunar Shadows

Kenjis computer screen was flashing a nightmare of red warning panels.

In the right corner of his screen he could see the paladins life points depleting at a staggering rate.

"My health is at 15 percent, I can't hold on much longer"

"The minions are flanking from the right and I can't take them all"

"Klutz! What do we do?"

It was chaos! Nothing but pure chaos. Kenji or in the world of Aethelgard Online, TaticalKlutz, watched as the health bars of his fellow guildmates plummeted. They had finally made it to the boss of the 100th floor. Standing in their way was towering skeletal figure cloaked in black hooded robe known as Nekrosius the dread-lich and his mob of skeleton minions decked out in black and silver armor. They had gone into this fight full of vigor and determination but things were falling apart rather quickly.

Nekrosius was overpowering the guilds paladin, TheGrave, named by his wife because he takes everything gravely serious. On the right side was Nekrosius's minions, fast and seemingly endless, had broke through the frontlines and were harassing the back-line mage and healer. The Lunar Shadows, the number one guild in the game of Aethelgaed Online, was about to be wiped out for the first time. Online in AO Kenji and his guildmates were gods among the rest. They had made it to the 99th floor while no other guild had even made it past the 95th floor. They all credited it to Kenji and it out side of the box tactics. Though if you asked Kenji it was because they had a perfect balance of attack and defense.

"Everyone focus" Kenjis voice cut through the panic in the voice chat. Everyone took a deep breath and focused on his voice, calming but authoritative. He scanned the battlefield taking in all the information he could muster. His mind processing all the dozens and dozens of variables and scenarios all at once. For most one's brain with explode with how fast the gears were turning and the amount of information he took in. He was their strategist, their leader and they were relying on him. This is where is thrived, this is where he felt like he was actually living. He could feel his heart rate quicken and his adrenaline was racing. The sides of his mouth curved into a smile.

"Grave, use Martyrs call. Then when he's skills pops everyone focus on the boss. If we do enough damage we may walk out of here alive", Kenji called out.

"Klutz I don't have enough mana to go all out" the mage let him no she was running on fumes. Her name was Lavender but her gamer tag was FallingLotus99. He turned to look at her and his breath hitched. Every time he focused on her he could feel the butterflies in his stomach start to churn. If he had any weakness it was that he focused on to the beautiful mage to much. How could he not. She was stunning, from he blue wavy hair to her pointy ears that she tried to hide behind her hair. She was an half elf that specialized in healing magic and could use light attack magic. She was the perfect balance of elegant and powerful. It didn't hurt that her character had all the right curves in all the right places. The final dagger in his obsession was her demeanor towards him. He couldn't tell if she was teasing him or really wanted to be with him. No matter she was all he could ever think about.

"Ok, when they move towards Grave, Lotus will come to the back with me, take a mana potion and cast healing on Grave. The others will attack the main boss. When Grave is healed we all will attack," ordered Kenji through the mic.

All 5 replied, "Yes captain."

"Ok Grave pop your skill now!", yelled Kenji.

Right after Grave used his skill Martyrs call, and a bright red circle started to shine from out underneath him, as his body started to give out a crimson aura. The skill attracted all enemies to him like months to a light, including the boss and all at once they attacked the paladin. The skill only last for 3 minutes, so they had to make the most of this chance. Lavender made her way to Kenji as he passed her a potion and she took it. He watched as she then stretched out her hand and they started to grow a faint green light and she turned her gaze to the paladin and shouted "full heal". You couldn't really see that there was a green glow to Grave because of his Martyr skill but in the top right pane of Kenjis computer he could see the paladins health bar going up slowly. While she focused on Grave, Kenji cast rallying cry, which boosted everyone attack and agilities stat. The other party members which consisted of a rogue with the username iceprincess and the wife of Grave, who could use ice magic and shoots volleys if ice arrows, a elementalist who's username was GG_2EZ69, who could use lighting and fire magic and was completely full of himself to the point where he would even make Hugh Hefner cringe, and lastly Ragebait1234, a beserker that uses a massive war hammer and is the nicest and most polite person kenji has ever talked to but in battle it's like a demon takes over and all he can do is smash things. Kinda like the hulk but he doesn't turn green. All Kenji could see is a volley of different colors streak across his computer screen as everyone attacked the boss.

Kenji monitored the the changing landscape and kept a close eye on his allies health bars and a closer eye on the bosses. The attacks where taking effect and he watched as the red health bar of the boss slowly depleted. Everything seemed to be going to plan, there was still 35 seconds left on Graves martyr skill and kenji kept buffing his team mates while debuffing the boss and his minions. They looked like flies trying to get through a window as they kept attacking Grave but not having any luck. GG kept spamming his two most powerful attacks that shot lightning through out the boss chamber. Everytime a bolt of lightning would strike it would light up the chamber and kenji could get a better view of the boss chamber they were in. It was dark as night but the glow of the green and bluish bioluminescent plants that grew off of the stalactites gave a very faint source of light. The chamber itself wasn't to big. Maybe 30 by 45 feet but the jagged rocks that came out of the ground made it harder to maneuver with out running into each other. He could hear droplets of water fall into puddles around him and he believed if he could smell the surroundings around him they would most likely to smell moldy and stale.

Right as Lotus aka Lavender used he ultimate skill, lance of judgement, a huge glowing gold lance formed in front of her. She made it grow bigger and then added rotation to it to give it more speed and damage and then she shot it forward towards Nekrosius. It connected squarely to its head and sent the giant skeleton flying backwards as it connected with stalactite that was hanging just barley above the ground, sending pieces of rock and debris all through out the chamber. Adding to the darkness, dust and dirt filled the room making it even harder to see. Luckily and unfortunately Kenji could see that the boss still was not dead. After a minute it stood back up and let out a skull piercing cry and a dark black aura started to encircle it. It's health bar had reached ten percent and it entered the final stage of its transformation. Everyone could feel dread creep in as they watched it get stronger and look at them with killing intent. The pressure it was exuding was almost unbearable and made them feel like they were going to collapse at any moment. Then all the sudden Nekrosius ended up right in front of Grave. No one saw it move, it seemed like it has just teleported across the room and then pop up right in front of Grave. It reared its hand backwards and smacked the paladin so hard it sent him crashing into a wall. The wall gave no relief and Grave found him self about 5 ft into a stone wall and spitting blood from his mouth.
