"The main point of this technique lies in the way the chakra erupts," Tsunade explained. "Once you master the method, you can unleash that same devastating power from any part of your body, not just your fists. However, it demands extremely high precision in chakra control, which is a major drawback. It also isn't easy to apply it to your entire body freely; that takes prolonged practice. Even I can only use it skillfully with my fists and feet. Additionally, it's not ideal for high-speed combat because it requires a brief charging process. While you can shorten that time with practice, you can never eliminate it completely."
Tsunade thoroughly introduced the technique to Kyuushin, detailing its incredible power as well as its significant shortcomings.
"So, do you still want to learn it?"
"Of course, but isn't my chakra control not good enough yet?" Kyuushin asked.
"That's fine. I don't expect you to learn it immediately. In fact, practicing this ninjutsu is an excellent way to train your chakra control." As she spoke, she produced a scroll from within her robes.
"Now, I'll teach you the specific chakra circulation method. Pay close attention; I don't have the patience to teach it a second time."
"Alright." Kyuushin rubbed his nose, wisely choosing not to question where she had been storing the scroll.
Although Tsunade's teaching ability was far inferior to Mito's, she used this ninjutsu constantly. While difficult to apply, the underlying theory was not complicated. After about half an hour, Kyuushin finally understood the specific operational method of the technique. It seemed simple, but the chakra circulation was extremely complex, almost like trying to carve a design onto the shell of a raw egg. Even the slightest mistake would cause the entire circulation to fail.
He recalled that even Sakura Haruno, praised by Kakashi Hatake for her exceptional talent in chakra control, had taken three years to master this technique. Kyuushin wondered how long it would take him. If he had to dedicate three years to this one ninjutsu, it might not be worth it.
"Alright, I've taught you the principles. You can practice on your own for now; I'm going to take a nap," Tsunade said with a yawn.
A private smirk touched her lips as she watched Kyuushin's furrowed brow. This was perfect. It was best to give him something to focus on. Once a person got busy, they wouldn't have time to dwell on painful memories. Seeing that his attention was now fully consumed by the challenge of this ninjutsu, she nodded with relief, then turned and went to find a spot to sleep.
Kyuushin, of course, was oblivious to Tsunade's little scheme. He was indeed fully immersed in the technique. Tsunade relied on only two main combat methods: the Monstrous Strength Fist for offense and Creation Rebirth for healing. If he could learn a signature skill that she used throughout her entire life, he would have a reliable way to defeat enemies in close combat.
Practice makes perfect. Now that he understood the principles, the next step was to try it himself.
He cautiously channeled chakra through his meridians to his right fist, then began to circulate it in the specific, complex manner. This was where he began to struggle. The chakra, which was usually quite obedient, now felt like a wild beast, refusing to obey his control. He had to be extremely careful, circulating the chakra at a glacial pace. It took him nearly five minutes, drenched in sweat, just to complete this first step.
Next came the true core of the technique: compressing the gathered chakra as much as possible. With each compression, more chakra could be packed into the same space, and the corresponding power would increase exponentially. However, the very second he attempted it, he failed. The chakra directly dispersed into nothing.
Kyuushin slapped his own face, trying to clear his head. Then he began his second attempt, followed by the third, the fourth... In the end, he lost count of how many times he had failed. He had to stop, panting heavily. Although his body wasn't tired, the mental exhaustion was immense.
"It seems that in my normal state, I'm just not ready to learn this," he mused. Although Tsunade had warned him, he only truly felt the difficulty after trying it himself. It was even harder than he had imagined. If he were to train in his normal state, it would indeed take years. Other than tree climbing and water walking, there were no shortcuts for training chakra control.
Thinking of this, Kyuushin made up his mind. After resting for a while, feeling his mind had mostly recovered, he unhesitatingly activated his Gene Lock again. In the first stage, besides the improvement in combat instinct, the most significant change was the enhancement of his chakra control.
Indeed, in this state, controlling his chakra was smooth and effortless. The circulation that was previously so difficult was now performed without any hindrance. While the chakra compression was still somewhat challenging, it no longer stumped him.
The charge was complete.
Kyuushin raised his fist and slammed it hard onto the ground.
"Boom!"
With one punch, the ground erupted in a spiderweb of cracks, startling even himself. Although the power was still not comparable to Tsunade's previous display, it was an undeniable success.
Joy surfaced in Kyuushin's heart, but he didn't stop there. He charged and punched again and again. He didn't know how long he could maintain the Gene Lock state, so repeating the process multiple times to build muscle memory was essential.
At that moment, Tsunade was still sleeping in a pavilion not far away. The booming sound woke her with a start, her instincts screaming that it was an enemy attack. But then she quickly realized—this was Konoha. Where would an enemy come from? Those booming sounds... could it be? She thought it was impossible.
A single leap brought her to the edge of the training ground. The sight that greeted her was shocking. The ground was crisscrossed with deep cracks, as if there had been an earthquake. And that red-haired brat was punching the ground repeatedly. Each punch produced another loud boom and added more cracks to the shattered earth.
She instinctively rubbed her eyes and pinched herself. After confirming she wasn't dreaming, she leaped and appeared directly in front of Kyuushin.
He was still concentrating, experiencing the sensation of the technique. Tsunade's sudden appearance startled him, and he instinctively threw the punch he had just charged. She was still reeling from the shock of what she was seeing. When the fist came at her, she didn't even think to dodge. She raised her arms and took the punch directly, her body sliding back four or five steps from the impact.
Feeling the familiar, explosive power from his fist, Tsunade finally snapped out of her stupor.
"Stop!"
