Chapter 55 - Chapter 55 – Seeing a Person’s True Face

Inside the CEO's office of Licheng Group, the beautiful president, Chu Ruoxue, was still simmering with anger.

Although she was the CEO of Licheng Group and the chairman's favorite, having grown up with a silver spoon in her mouth, even for her, 50 million yuan was no small sum. It had taken her many years to save that money—and in just a few minutes, it was all gone.

What made it even worse was that she hadn't spent the money herself.

Someone else had lost it.

Right in front of her eyes.

Swipe after swipe—gone in minutes.

Just thinking about it made her feel suffocated.

"Damn Ethan Ye!"

"He's useless at everything except failing!"

"He clearly has no real ability, yet he still dares to put on airs and act like some big shot! If it weren't for the information he brought me, I would've kicked him out long ago!"

"Don't ever let me see him again!"

After venting her anger, Chu Ruoxue gradually calmed down and began to think things through.

The situation was already very clear.

Ethan Ye had no real investment ability at all.

He was just recklessly gambling.

Even worse than an outsider like her.

However, the strange thing was that his reputation had been exaggerated to an astonishing degree—and Lin Investment Company had indeed multiplied its funds in less than half a month.

That meant there had to be someone truly capable behind him.

And that person could only be—

Alex Lin.

There were many rumors inside Lin Investment Company claiming that Alex Lin was an investment genius, second only to Ethan Ye. Almost every stock he touched rose sharply.

Moreover, even when Ethan Ye took leave, Lin Investment Company still grew rapidly, accumulating hundreds of millions within just a few days.

The mastermind behind this was undoubtedly Alex Lin.

Alex Lin had also treated Ethan Ye extremely well—better than a real brother. It was entirely possible that he had personally guided Ethan Ye and let him take the credit.

But this Ethan Ye—

Not only was he ungrateful, he even dragged away her private savings!

"He's absolute scum!!!"

Chu Ruoxue quickly pieced everything together.

She especially despised people who behaved like this.

She couldn't understand how someone like him had the nerve to come to her, act polite, betray his benefactor, and shamelessly take credit for another person's achievements.

Such behavior had crossed every moral line.

"It's better to keep as little contact with him as possible in the future."

"It seems I'll have to continue cooperating with Alex Lin. He's the real financial expert. With him around, funding won't be a problem."

"However… the price of this land needs to be renegotiated."

With that thought, Chu Ruoxue picked up her phone and dialed Alex Lin's number.

As soon as the call connected, she heard Alex Lin's cheerful voice.

"Miss Chu, why are you calling at this hour? Planning to invite me out to dinner?"

"You really kept this from me," Chu Ruoxue said with a playful smile. "It took quite some effort to find out."

"The government is planning to establish an economic development zone in the southern district. That land is about to skyrocket in value—so you wanted to buy it from me at a low price, didn't you?"

There was obvious surprise on the other end of the line.

"How did you know? Who told you?"

Chu Ruoxue felt even more pleased. After so many calls where she was always on the passive side, she had finally taken the initiative.

"I have my own information channels," she replied calmly.

She didn't mention Ethan Ye.

After all, he had leaked the information to her and brought her a significant advantage. Exposing him outright would feel somewhat unethical.

She wasn't as shameless as Ethan Ye—she still had her own principles.

A long, heavy sigh came from the phone.

"Did Ethan Ye tell you?"

Chu Ruoxue froze.

She hadn't said anything, yet Alex Lin had guessed it immediately.

She didn't fully admit it.

"Why him? Couldn't it have been Dragon Fang Capital?"

"Dragon Fang Capital wanted to cooperate with you before, but they never explained the reason," Alex Lin replied. "After the cooperation failed, it became even less likely."

"So this information could only have come from my side."

"And the only person I told was Ethan Ye."

Another painful sigh followed.

Chu Ruoxue didn't know what to say.

She could imagine how heartbroken the person on the other end of the call must be.

Being betrayed by the person you trust the most—no one could easily accept that.

If she put herself in his shoes, being betrayed by a brother would hurt deeply as well.

"Don't think about it too much," Chu Ruoxue said gently. "Look at it another way—at least you've seen his true face now. That alone will help you avoid even greater losses in the future."

"I know," Alex Lin replied helplessly. "But I still can't get past it."

"I treated him so well. I regarded him as a real brother, gave him everything he needed… Why would he do this to me?"

His voice was filled with confusion and sorrow.

"Some people are easy to know but impossible to understand," Chu Ruoxue said coldly. "They're rotten by nature."

"It's like the farmer and the snake, or Dongguo and the wolf. No matter how well you treat them, they'll never be grateful. Given the chance, they'll bite you back."

"Don't waste your emotions on someone like that. They're not worth it."
