This isn't going to be like any other story where it starts with "once upon a time" or something, some would say it's sad while some would call it a love story but I guess it's all one big adventure filled with ups and
downs and it all starts with one night, one boy and one part-time job.
It was on a windy
night and it looked like it was about to start raining, meanwhile it remained
an hour for Tatsumi to clock his 4pm to 9pm part-time job at a convenience
store named 'Dice'. "Thank you and come again" Tatsumi says to the last customer
before she leaves.
Under the cloudy
sky, the store was radiating light from it, showing that they were still open
with the big sign board that illuminated the name of the store with yellow
outline which sparked occasionally indicating that the store has been around
for a while.
"Haaa" he lets
out a long breath sitting on the chair behind the counter and looks out the
window seeing how the night sky was rid of stars and covered with dark stormy
clouds, he could see the trees outside being blown by the wind.
Tatsumi was tired
and silent not showing any expression on his face because the only reason he
was working was to save up money for his father's treatment because his family was facing a financial
crisis due to the father falling ill and the only way to bring them back up was
for him to get a job.
He wouldn't have
to be working a part time job but he decided to on his own because his mom had
to shoulder all the weight of paying for the treatment of her husband whilst paying
for house bills and tuition fees along with the extra fees that come with the
extra curricular activities that her kids are involved in.
"With the way things
are looking why don't you call it a day and head home?" Tatsumi looks up to see
his boss resting on the counter staring down at him. "but..." Tatsumi had an
indecisive look on his face after
hearing the words from his boss " Don't worry, just because you don't finish
the time limit doesn't mean your pay will be cut, ok?" the boss told him with a
warm smile on his 50 year old face.
" Yeah I guess"
Tatsumi said looking somehow surprised and somehow uninterested, " good so go
change and head home, I'll close up the store and make sure the rain doesn't
catch up with you". Tatsumi stands up and heads to the changing room to change
from the blue uniform with cap that he was wearing.
After 2-3 minutes he came out with his white
round neck, black jacket , black jeans and white sneakers. Tatsumi Arata who is
average height with black spikey hair, ocean blue eyes and a pretty good
looking face walked out of the store with his phone in his right hand. He looks
up, the wind blowing his hair and his unzipped jacket backwards, the streets
were empty and silent showing that everyone had gone home in shelter from the
incoming storm.
As he strolls down the deserted street he
was deep in thought on how he was going to keep living like this because he had
no time to hang out with his friends, if he even had one and no time to live
life like a normal 17 year old is meant to. Being distracted by all his
thoughts he didn't notice the one other rather strange person on the same
deserted street that he was, until they both walked past each other.
Tatsumi was drawn out from his sea of
thought as the strange person passed him by with a very eerie aura that gave
Tatsumi goose bumps, " What the?, I could have sworn I saw a guy wearing
sunglasses in the night" Tatsumi says as he looks back to see nobody behind
him. " Maybe I really am going insane from all the work" He says as he
continues his walk home
Even after ten minutes of walking he was
still a bit far from home but not too far, then suddenly his phone starts
ringing but as he lifts his hand to check who was calling him, a sudden
blinding light from the lightning that just struck didn't allow him to see his
screen and after a second he could see again. Tatsumi realized that it was his
elder sister calling him and although her name is ' Hina Arata' he saved her
contact as 'Sis'.
" Why is she calling me all of a sudden?
I'm already on my way" he picks the call and put the phone in his ear. " Hello
I'm on my way home so stop worrying!" "...." he hears nothing on the other
side. " Hello is this supposed to be a prank?" he rolled his eyes but suddenly
"Aaaaa!!!" a loud scream pierces his ear badly,
He puts the phone away from his ear in
reaction to the loud scream but then he quickly realises that the voice he
heard was his sister's voice. " Hina!, Hina! , Hina!!" Tatsumi starts yelling
at his phone expecting his sister to reply him but nothing, from utter shock he
drops his phone and starts running with full speed.
The moment his phone hits the ground the
rain starts pouring heavily, for ten minutes Tatsumi had been running under the
cold rain that felt like stones as the drops landed on his face and finally he
could see his house from afar. Reaching the front door he tried opening it but
it was locked and without a second thought he started body bashing the door but
it didn't even budge because there is only so much a 17 year old boy could do.
He looked back and searched the yard with
his eye for what he could use and he saw the metal bat he used to play catch
with his dad as a kid. He quickly ran to pick it up and used it to break the
handle then as he entered, he was welcomed by a horrifying scene.
