Chapter 149: The Sea of Clouds
"Sky Island? What's that?"
"It is exactly as it sounds—an island in the sky. If nothing unexpected has happened, it should be right directly above us."
"An island... above the sky..."
Luffy was stunned.
He subconsciously tipped his head back, gazing up at the heavens.
He hadn't looked before, but now that he did, he realized the sky here was starkly different from elsewhere.
The cloud layer overhead was exceptionally thick. They weren't ordinary white clouds, but a dense, heavy, milky-white sea of clouds that seemed to possess physical substance.
This sea of clouds extended for miles in all directions, stretching beyond the visible horizon, embracing the entire sky in its arms.
Usually, at times like this, Luffy's brain worked the fastest.
Adventure!
His eyes began to shine. He pointed at the sky, his voice trembling with excitement.
"Is... Is it really up there?!!"
An island above the sky—it was practically the adventure of his dreams.
Seeing his predictably excited reaction, Ganyu and Robin smiled at each other.
The two exchanged a tacit look, the corners of their mouths simultaneously lifting into a subtle arc that carried a hint of mischief.
Their expressions made one thing clear—they had brought Luffy here on purpose.
Rewind time to one day ago.
Going Merry, Women's Quarters.
Late at night, Nami was fast asleep in her hammock on the other side of the room.
Ganyu and Robin were lying in the only large bed remaining in the room.
This was the second day since Robin had joined the Straw Hat Pirates, and the beginning of her and Ganyu sharing a bed.
The two maintained a proper distance, looking at each other, occasionally reaching out to touch the other's face. The atmosphere was thick with a sweet, citrusy intimacy.
"Your skin is wonderful."
"Yours as well. Though it is a little... darker..."
"I suppose I was in the desert for too long. Perhaps it will lighten up in the future?"
"Mhm, it definitely will."
After Nami had fallen asleep, Ganyu finally brought up the main topic.
"Robin, have you heard of the City of Gold?"
"The City of Gold? I seem to have heard of that island. I believe it is a phantom island filled with gold, fabricated in the legends of a liar known as the 'King of Liars'..."
Robin pondered while playfully pinching Ganyu's soft cheek with interest.
She teased, "What? Could it be that our cute and powerful Miss Ganyu is interested in gold?"
Ganyu shook her head. "No. I just happen to know the current location of that island. Furthermore, it is highly likely to be near our next destination."
"Wait. You mean the City of Gold actually exists?" Robin looked quite shocked.
In legends, the City of Gold was an island overflowing with gold. Gold symbolized wealth. One could imagine how explosive this news would be for pirates.
"Of course. However, due to certain reasons, this island is currently located above the clouds at an altitude of 10,000 meters. Ordinary people cannot reach it."
Ganyu smiled calmly. Taking advantage of the other's momentary distraction, she switched from defense to offense, pinching both of Robin's cheeks at the same time.
"Ah!"
The sudden assertiveness caught the black-haired beauty off guard, causing her to let out a charming cry that invited imagination.
But Robin was no ordinary person. She counterattacked almost instantly, pulling Ganyu into her embrace, attempting to force a surrender through suffocation.
