'The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Though the saying did not quite apply in their situation since Roth's parents were not his enemies, Haley felt that in a way it really, really fit.
During the course of their argument, (which was all Roth's fault for hiding her hairdryer), certain things had been misplaced. Things like the colourful cushions that Haley had been throwing at Roth, who was ridiculously good at dodging.
Now she was the one responsible for collecting them all around the living room, and bringing them back to their rightful places. Seeing as she was the one who had thrown them, it was only right that she pick them up. She did not mind that. But she did mind that while she was busy, Roth was running around in the kitchen taking out plates.
"Roth stop messing around, your parents will be here any second,"
"I am not messing around, Slater. I want it to look like the two of us just had a lovely meal together. That's something that loving, happy couples do, isn't it?"
