Chapter 18 - Thanos's Gift

In the year 2233 of the Cosmic Calendar, Beckett, the youngest adopted son of Thanos, the Dark Order Lord and the last survivor of the Titan race, officially took up residence on Chitauri Prime with Thanos's approval.

The current Chitauri King, The Other, cast aside his dignity as king and willingly prostrated himself before Beckett, pledging his allegiance and showering him with flattery. Under the tireless efforts of the Chitauri soldiers, a magnificent palace rose from the ground. In just three days, the supplies provided by Thanos moved the Chitauri, who had always been neglected by their parents, to tears.

They had never experienced such treatment before, receiving basic resources without having to fight for them.

"It's good to have a mountain to rely on for a good life," they finally understood the bittersweet truth of this saying. Why had the previous Chitauri King painstakingly sought development and progress? It was precisely because Chitauri Prime was poor, which indirectly prevented the Chitauri race from advancing by leaps and bounds.

The climate on Chitauri Prime was already harsh, and the poor geographical environment and scarce energy resources had always been a heavy burden on the previous Chitauri King's shoulders. Yes, they were indeed half-mechanical and half-biological beings, but this did not mean they could survive in the universe without resources. This was something even the eternal Titan race could not achieve, let alone the Chitauri, a species whose life form was relatively inferior to that of the Titans.

For survival, for development, for resources, the previous Chitauri King, after leading his people to eke out a living for a period, could no longer suppress his fervent desire for progress. He began to instigate wars everywhere to acquire vast resources for his people's evolution.

In theory, the previous Chitauri King's philosophy was not bad. Unfortunately, he was blind and kicked a steel plate in Thanos. In the end, not only did his corpse lie in the wilderness, but his entire race was also bundled up and handed over to Thanos by the traitor The Other.

"Your Highness Beckett, this batch of supplies is the last on the list." The overjoyed The Other was still directing the Chitauri soldiers to move the supplies from the transport ship into the resource storage bay. Upon seeing Beckett's figure appear at the entrance, he immediately put down his list and scurried over to Beckett.

Today, Beckett was not wearing his silver combat armor. A simple black training uniform concealed the chiseled muscles of his body. The beads of sweat dripping from his forehead clearly indicated to The Other that he had just emerged from the temporary training base.

Beckett remained noncommittal, his footsteps unwavering as he walked directly towards the resource transport ship.

"Your Highness Beckett—"

"Shut up." Beckett stopped, turned his head, and cast a cold glance at The Other, who was following closely behind him. The Other was startled and swallowed the words that were already on the tip of his tongue. The Other had no doubt that if he spoke another word, the steel-hard tail behind Beckett would mercilessly pierce his chest.

After the annoying fly fell silent, Beckett resumed his steps and boarded the main ship of the transport fleet. The Other, determined to cling to Beckett's coattails, followed him onto the main ship. As he boarded, he also instructed the Chitauri soldiers on board to quickly disappear, so as not to obstruct His Highness Beckett.

Beckett saw all of this, his stern face showing no emotional fluctuation. This was something he had learned from his adoptive father, Thanos. As a superior, showing no emotion was a basic skill. A qualified superior not only had to bestow favors upon his subordinates but also make them feel fear. Benevolence and might, wielded together, were the true way.

Thanos had not taught him how to strike a balance, only telling him to grasp it himself. In Thanos's view, this was also a form of cultivation, beneficial to Beckett.

The daughter of that Asgardian warmonger could independently lead an army to win wars. As Thanos's most satisfactory adopted son, Beckett naturally couldn't fall too far behind. Although they were usually in a state of not seeing each other due to their different scopes of work, out of paternal pride, Thanos did not believe that his Beckett would be any worse than Hela.

"Your Highness Beckett, what is this...?"

Following behind Beckett into the main cargo hold, The Other looked up at the behemoth that occupied his field of vision, unable to suppress his curiosity, and asked.

The Other was not someone who had never seen the world, but this thing that looked like a cannon, yet not quite, truly puzzled him. After all, he had never seen a cannon capable of firing an artificial small moon.

To be precise, the muzzle first fired rays composed of special substances, and then these rays intertwined in mid-air to form a full moon. The clear moonlight scattered through every corner of the transport ship. Then, The Other felt a palpably terrifying energy fluctuation suddenly emanate from Beckett's side. Turning his head, he saw that the heart-stopping energy fluctuation was indeed coming from Beckett!

Is it ultimately just artificial?

Feeling the surging energy within his body, Beckett opened his eyes. His gaze was fixed on the small moon in the sky, and he struggled to suppress the impact of his violent emotions. Two seconds later, with his body already undergoing changes, Beckett reached out and turned off the machine, and the artificial full moon disappeared.

Although the amplification was not as effective as a real full moon, it was still acceptable. At the very least, this meant that from now on, Beckett could transform whenever he wished, without any restrictions.

This was a gift from Thanos to Beckett, a gift to celebrate his official command of the army, and it was very practical.

"Just a power amplification item." Beckett, whose physique had returned to normal, glanced at The Other and replied. This brought unexpected joy to The Other, who thought he wouldn't receive a response from Beckett.

His Highness Beckett responded to me, which means I still hold some position in His Highness Beckett's heart; I'm not just invisible.

"Congratulations, Your Highness Beckett." Since he was too low in rank to get close to Thanos, The Other had completely decided to become Beckett's number one sycophant. He immediately bowed to Beckett, his joyful tone completely sincere. After all, the stronger Beckett became, the more benefits it brought him, with no downsides.

With his mouth as sweet as honey, The Other did not chatter incessantly this time. Having learned his lesson, after a brief congratulation, he said no more.

"Have someone move this machine to my warship. Woz, take him to my warship."

"Yes, Your Highness Beckett." The blue tanuki, dragging its round body, projected itself in front of The Other. Its honest and cute big face filled The Other with astonishment.

I can't tell that His Highness Beckett is so... childlike?

"Woz...?" After Beckett left, The Other looked down at the honest and cute blue tanuki robot, carefully choosing his words.

The idea that clinging to Beckett's thigh was indirectly clinging to Thanos's thick thigh had already taken root in The Other's mind. He clearly paid special attention to this robot cat that was obviously trusted by Beckett.

Who knows what this cat actually is.

"Your Excellency The Other, do you have any questions?"

You who say I spend public funds on prostitutes, come here and I'll give you a buff!

Slander!

As pure as I am, I've never even held a girl's hand since I grew up (◣д◢)
