Chapter 2 - My Father's Name Is Thanos

Somewhere in the universe, Thanos's base.

Today was a special day for the people within this base.

Thanos, the last hope of the Eternal Titan race, had brought back an infant from his homeworld, Titan – a genuine baby.

His name was Beckett, a baby boy with a red tail growing from his backside.

In front of the four generals of the Black Order, Thanos formally announced that Beckett was to become his adopted son. This was despite Ebony Maw's detection confirming that the infant did not belong to the Titan race.

Not a life form of the Titan race, yet he appeared on the ravaged planet Titan. As the strategist of Thanos's army, Ebony Maw instinctively sensed something was amiss. However, upon seeing the meaningful gaze of his master, Thanos, he swallowed the question that was already on his lips.

Thanos was his boss, the sole god in this dark territory. If he said it was, then it was. Disagree? The white bones buried beneath the floating throne served as the best example.

Ebony Maw didn't think he was tired of living yet, so he began chanting praises for Thanos to celebrate his master gaining another adopted son.

With his small arms and legs unable to resist Thanos's mighty strength, the infant Beckett could only lie quietly in Thanos's embrace, coldly observing the various demons and monsters beneath the throne, all singing praises for Thanos in their own ways.

To little Beckett, these people looked no different from the monsters in his mother's bedtime stories. Each one was bizarrely shaped.

Especially the quartet standing beneath the throne.

One was emaciated, looking like he'd blow over in the wind.

Another held a long blade, his face ferocious, draped in a tattered cape.

One carried a giant battle axe, appearing like a brutish oaf. Finally, there was a woman who seemed the most normal compared to the other three.

Little Beckett really wanted to know what they were babbling about, but unfortunately, he truly couldn't understand a word. He didn't know where he was, what these people were saying, or what the man who carried him back from the ruins intended to do to him. His little brain couldn't process any more than this.

An infant's cognitive abilities were ultimately limited. Beckett, who had traveled through time and space by chance, eventually fell into a deep sleep, consumed by longing for his mother.

Thanos, seated on his throne, cast his gaze upon the sleeping Beckett, a smile forming on his lips. He didn't know where this child came from, but he knew that this child had, in a sense, personally witnessed the destruction of Titan. In this catastrophe that engulfed the entire planet Titan, countless powerful Titans had been reduced to cosmic dust, yet only this infant, not of the Titan race, had narrowly escaped.

Wasn't this the will of heaven?

Especially after Thanos sensed the immense potential contained within this young body, his conviction that he was destined for greatness grew even stronger.

This was fate's choice, the will of the great universe bringing them together in the unseen. The moment his lifelong ambition became even more resolute, destiny sent a child with the talent of a formidable warrior to his side.

Thanos believed this was the universe's acknowledgment and encouragement.

The path ahead was not easy, but Thanos was still willing to forge ahead, no matter the heavy price he had to pay. The road was winding, but the future was bright.

...

Three years later, Sanctuary, Thanos's domain.

Beckett, now three years old, wearing a custom-made combat suit by Thanos, stumbled to his feet amidst a pile of rubble. Blood still seeped from his lips, and his small body was hit again.

A punch imbued with immense force sent the newly risen Beckett crashing back into the rubble behind him. His red tail drooped, no longer showing the liveliness it had when they first began their spar.

"Get up, Beckett."

Thanos, his hands behind his back, gazed at the devastated ruins. Scattered stones completely buried Beckett's small body, leaving only a small section of his red tail exposed within Thanos's sight.

"Rustle... rustle..."

A few pebbles fell from above along with Thanos's words. After a few seconds of silence, the small body buried by the rubble began to grit his teeth and force himself up.

The rubble could bury his body, but it couldn't bury the burning fighting spirit in his heart.

His face, etched with determination, was still childish, but the unyielding light in his eyes had never faded. No matter how many times Thanos had beaten him over the past year, this remained constant.

He, Beckett, the last hope of the Saiyan race, absolutely could not fall here.

He had witnessed Thanos's power firsthand over these three years. Leading his four generals, they had fought countless battles without a single defeat. Therefore, he wanted to learn to fight from his adoptive father, Thanos, and then go kill Frieza, who had hidden himself away somewhere.

"Very good, Beckett. You have passed this assessment."

Thanos, standing with his hands behind his back, was satisfied with Beckett's performance.

He truly was a combat genius sent by destiny. He had begun special training at the age of two, and now, a year later, three-year-old Beckett's progress was astonishingly rapid.

Especially since Beckett's combat ability improved significantly after each severe injury and recovery. He didn't know what Beckett's race was, but in his eyes, this race was simply born for battle.

Born to fight, growing stronger with every fight.

Even Thanos himself couldn't estimate Beckett's future potential.

However...

Thanos glanced at the tail swaying behind Beckett. This tail seemed to be the weakness of this race.

But this was no problem for Thanos, who hailed from Titan. From the day Beckett was adopted, his adoptive father, sensing the weakness in Beckett's physique, had used his knowledge-cursed mind to concoct a special nutrient fluid for Beckett.

It was specifically designed to treat the problem of a weak and limp tail.

By now, Beckett's tail was no longer his weakness. Instead, it had become one of his surprising attack methods.

"Let's go, it's time for your treatment." At this moment, Thanos's cold demeanor from the assessment was gone, replaced by a kind smile that made him seem like a different person.

The treatment Thanos mentioned was also a program he had tailor-made for Beckett. Ever since he discovered that Beckett's strength increased significantly every time he returned from the brink of death, Thanos had designed an extreme healing method around this characteristic.

"Yes, Father." A bright smile appeared on Beckett's childish face. He had once again passed his adoptive father Thanos's assessment.

Returning to the base, after shedding his tattered combat suit, the naked Beckett put on a specially made respirator and leaped into the green liquid that Thanos had named the [Fountain of Life].

Green was the color of natural life.

This had already become Beckett's daily routine for the past year. Regardless of whether he had fought Thanos or not, after every training session, he had to soak in this Fountain of Life to heal his injuries. According to Thanos, the Fountain of Life not only healed him completely but also effectively extended his lifespan.

In other words, every time Beckett soaked in the Fountain of Life, his lifespan was being extended. Thanos had developed this specifically for him after reviewing Beckett's estimated life force report. It was more effective than the methods occasionally used by Ebony Maw and the others.

Passed the review, a bit fast~
