Su Zhan wasn't surprised when Skye decided to help. For one, Skye was always kind-hearted, and it was hard for her to ignore something like this. For another, this was a good opportunity to get into S.H.I.E.L.D. To prove her worth was the only way she'd be able to get into the organization.
Skye started using the plane's equipment to investigate, and Su Zhan couldn't help but admit—her hacking skills were impressive. With this high-tech gear, she seemed almost unstoppable. As he watched her work diligently, Su Zhan felt a bit bored.
"If you're feeling bored, I can have someone give you a tour of the plane," Agent Phil Coulson said, standing beside Su Zhan. He spoke quietly. "Honestly, I don't understand any of this stuff either, but here I am, waiting for news." He tapped the communicator in his ear. "Jemma, can you come over for a minute?"
Moments later, Jemma Simmons, wearing a white lab coat, walked over.
"Jemma, show Su Zhan around," Coulson instructed.
"Sure!" Jemma nodded with a smile and gestured for Su Zhan to follow her.
"Thanks, Jemma," Su Zhan said with a smile. He was genuinely interested in the plane—it was pretty impressive, after all.
But honestly, the most impressive thing was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s flying fortress, and getting access to that wouldn't be easy. He'd figure out how to get something like that once the system upgraded, allowing him to pull items from the alternate dimension. He'd deal with that later.
Jemma had a certain eccentricity about her. She took Su Zhan on a full tour of the plane, but it wasn't so much a tour as it was a science lecture. Unfortunately, Su Zhan didn't understand a word of it. But watching her speak with such enthusiasm, Su Zhan found it rather amusing.
"You have a boyfriend?" Su Zhan suddenly asked.
Jemma blinked, surprised by the question, and shook her head. "No, I came straight from college to join the team. I didn't have the time or energy for a relationship. So... no boyfriend. What about you? Is Skye your girlfriend?"
"Yeah," Su Zhan nodded.
"Seems nice!" Jemma said with a hint of envy before quickly shifting topics, excitedly adding, "I've seen your file. You're very mysterious, and it seems you have some special abilities. You absorbed the Extremis virus without any ill effects. It's possible that your blood or genes can suppress the pacification virus. If we can figure it out, we might be able to save many lives!"
Jemma became more animated as she spoke, but when she noticed Su Zhan's indifferent expression, her excitement began to wane. She became more hesitant, her voice softening.
"I should have known… you probably don't want to hear this. Uh… let's just pretend I didn't say anything," Jemma apologized.
But Su Zhan surprised her by shaking his head. "If it's just drawing a little blood, it's fine. But... my blood isn't exactly easy to extract. So, if you want to do research, what's in it for me?"
"Really? You'd agree? That's great! What do you want?" Jemma asked, her excitement bubbling up again.
Su Zhan stared at her. "I want you…"
Jemma froze. "Me? What do you mean?"
Su Zhan smirked. "What? You're not willing? I thought you'd do anything for science, for innocent lives. Now it seems like you're not that dedicated after all!"
"If... if you really want my blood for research, I... I'll agree! But, you know, one exchange for one time!" Jemma hesitated, then said firmly.
Su Zhan had only been joking to tease her, but he didn't expect her to actually agree.
"Why? Just for my blood?" Su Zhan asked, curious.
"Well, partly. And also... there's another reason!" Jemma said, lowering her head.
"Another reason?"
"I don't know, I just think you're special. It's hard to explain, but I feel close to you. Even though the files say you might be dangerous, I believe you're not a bad person. That's why I agreed... I'm not the type of person who just gives away blood to anyone!" Jemma blushed as she spoke.
Su Zhan was taken aback by her answer. Could this be... love at first sight? Well, he did know he was quite charming. It seemed like Black Widow had some interest in him the first time they met, and Skye... they had become a couple shortly after. Now, Jemma was doing the same thing!
Could he have some hidden charm attribute?
Looking at Jemma, who was now slightly embarrassed, Su Zhan suddenly reached out and gently pinched her chin, causing her to instinctively lift her head. Then, seeing the nervous and shy look in her eyes, he bent down and kissed her.
Jemma instinctively closed her eyes, experiencing a sensation she had never felt before.
It felt like an eternity, yet it passed in an instant.
Su Zhan pulled away and smiled. "Actually, what I meant to say was, I wanted your... first kiss. But your offer was so tempting that I've changed my mind. Let's go with what you said. If you're ready, you can come find me. This will be our little secret!"
Jemma understood what he meant and nodded. "Don't worry, I won't tell Skye. I won't tell anyone. I... I don't know why I did something so bold and ridiculous, but I hope you don't misunderstand me!"
"Of course I won't!" Su Zhan assured her, knowing that Jemma was just a science fanatic with no experience in relationships.
"That's good… I'll be ready and find you when I am."
Jemma blushed and said softly.
"Good, I'll be waiting. Now, let's continue the tour!"
Jemma took Su Zhan on a further tour of the plane. Meanwhile, Skye had made some progress with her investigation.
She hadn't been able to uncover much about the mysterious organization—it was vast and difficult to break through. However, she had identified the first test subject.
Michael Collins.
His situation wasn't good. He had a son and had been modified with the Centipede virus. However, he had remained hidden for a long time, and only after appearing at an explosion site did his abilities get exposed when he tried to save someone.
"His condition seems stable. It might... be a success. We need to find him quickly and check his condition!"
Phil Coulson watched the virtual screen, his face serious.
The Centipede soldier's condition was unstable and could lead to self-detonation.
"If he self-destructs, the damage could be catastrophic," Coulson added.
"I've locked onto his location. But I need you to ensure nothing goes wrong," Skye said.
"I can only guarantee I'll do my best."
"Alright."
Skye provided the location, and the plane adjusted its course.
"Well done, dear."
Su Zhan leaned over and hugged Skye, but she shook her head. "It's nothing. I just wish I could help him. But it won't be easy. If... if things go wrong, you'll help, right?"
"Of course!" Su Zhan replied.
